Decorating the Hideout//open
Balancing the bags of groceries in one arm, Kido fiddled through her pockets for her keys with little success. She had been out shopping for about two hours now, and the amount of food she had procured proved it. Honestly if it wasn Patience thinning and annoyance growing, she finally sighed and set down the bags and began digging through them as well.
And that's when she heard the crash.
Panic suddenly flooded her mind. She wasn't sure about Kano or Seto, but she knew Mary was definitely inside. Eyes glowing red, Kido leapt to her feet and slammed her shoulder into the door, forcing it open as she knocked one of the bags over in the hall outside.
"MAR-"
She stopped mid-shout, stunned into silence. Garland was strewn all over the floor, boxes were piled up on the table, and a large tree, much bigger than their apartment could possibly fit, was lying on it's side next to a freshly broken lamp.
Someone was certainly going to die, but it wasn't going to be any burglars.

Warm Sun//Open
Kido shielded her eyes as she squinted up into the sky. The sun beat down harshly onto her face and she adjusted her hood to block out the blinding rays before focusing back to the path before her and continuing with her walk.
As sweat started to bead on her forehead, she realized that she'd probably feel better if she took her hoodie off. Instead, the thought only made her clench on to it tighter. For some reason, the idea of removing the article of clothing felt wrong.
The weather had been the same for the past couple days and she hated it. Too hot for this time of year. Then again, what time of year even was it? After pondering this for awhile she quickly dismissed it away as her being too tired to remember and turned her attention instead to the music playing in her ear, focusing instead on the rhythm and lyrics as she let it fill her mind. Letting herself become lost, she closed her eyes and continued walking.

❝ — He was finally doing it. He was… outside.
And it was absolutely dreadful.
Shintaro felt as if he was literally going to melt. Either that, or his blood was going to evaporate inside of his body. Both physically impossible, but felt probable in the presence in this torturous heat. A stray bead of sweat ran down the hikikomori’s forehead, confirming that his inner thermometer agreed with his sentiments.
He slumped down the sidewalk of one of the more modern areas of Hajima, lined with shops and attractive window displays that the recluse seemed to take no interest in. His physical health had declined dramatically from extended periods of time shut in his room, being already out of breath from about ten minutes of walking and sweating heavily, used to the air-conditioned atmosphere of his dorm.
The boy tried to focus on the vague artist playing in his earbuds, glancing down at the screen of his outdated phone to see the song’s title. It was unreadable due to the glare of the sun. He sighed, but didn’t put the phone in the pocket of his jacket like the average teenager would - he had an odd habit of always keeping it out, almost as if expecting something or someone to show up on the screen. That was absurd, of course.
Perhaps it had something to do with his large lack of memories. A twitch of annoyance crossed his otherwise melancholy face at the thought of it. His amnesia wasn’t diagnosed by any sort of doctor or psychologist, but he knew more than enough to know something was wrong with his brain. Who else remembered nothing but three things of their entire past? And vaguely, at that.
His thoughts were suddenly interrupted, however, when he collided with another person. Stumbling backward a bit, almost losing his balance, he let out a small noise of surprise and dropped his phone.
「"Eh…! Ah, are you okay? Please be okay…" Strangely, he wasn’t referring to the other person with the inquiry, but his phone. When the screen flickered to life, he gave a sigh of relief, then glanced to the other person. “Oh… Uh, sorry…” he said, trying to give his best form of apology. Which wasn’t much, to be honest.」
Kido's eyebrows furrowed as she stood in front of the shop window. The sign posted was advertising a sale, all produce would be half off. Today only. She really didn't need any at the moment, but sales like this only came every so often....
After fiddling with the ipod in the pockets of her hoodie for what must have been at least five minutes, she came to the conclusion that it wouldn't hurt to at least look around.
Pulling her hands free of her pocket, she reached for the door handle when suddenly she felt a force against her side. Startled, she let out a low grunt and stumbled a bit before regaining her footing. After the realizition hit that someone had bumped into her, she turned and looked for the culprit, her trademark annoyed glare in place.
A boy, about her age or so, and he was panicking over his phone. Once he calmed down, he gave her the most awkward apology she had ever heard.
"Don't worry about it, It's fine..."
She found herself feeling a twinge of pity for the kid.
(tomorrow I will use this blog, I'm gonna do it I'm gonna rp if someone has to drag me to this blog. If I don't do anything to get involved with other stupid teenage gang leaders I will be very disappointed in myself)

Seto immediately perked up, his grin returning to full force. ”Ah, really??” he asked, going immediately to the fridge. A quick look inside confirmed what she’d said, and he took what looked like a roll from last night, shutting the fridge again.
"Ahh, you’re the best," he commented happily, returning to his corner to munch on the food. Even though there was no way for it to help so quickly, he already felt better as he ate. He wasn’t at all bothered by Kido being harsh to him earlier; it was business as usual, and it was essentially impossible for him to hold a grudge anyway.
Seeing him happily snack away at the roll, Kido smirked, pleased with herself. She disregarded the fact that Kano had claimed dibs on the roll last night, and whatever Seto didn't know wouldn't hurt him. There was a part of her that doubted Kano would even be home soon enough to even notice, but she quickly shook the thought from her head.
With Seto dealt with she could finally return to cooking in peace-
"Ah!" She let out a small yelp at the sight in front of her. The pot was bubbling violently and the contents sploshing out the sides. She was shocked she didn't smell the burning food earlier, and she rushed to turn down the burner before it began smoking any more than it already was.

Seto didn’t even realize the fridge was an option. From the second he walked into the base he’d been able to smell her amazing cooking, and his brain entirely revolved around it by this point.
But at her words he felt bad for annoying her, and immediately ducked his head a little, which looked ridiculous for someone of his height but was a habit he’d picked up when he was smaller than people and could hide under the edge of his hood. ”Ahah, sorry,” he said with a laugh, rubbing the back of his neck.
She let out a long sigh, her earlier annoyance having dissipated by this point. Looking at him again it was obvious he had had a rough day, and she began to feel a twinge of guilt. Seto wasn't Kano, and as much as she'd hate to admit it, it was pretty hard to stay mad at him, especially when he ducked his head like that.
"Look, if you really want something to eat I think there's some of last night's dinner still left in the fridge" She said, hoping he would leave it at that. She was getting far too distracted from her cooking.
mama danchou // nurturingeyes
Seto was about to start telling her some sob story about how hard he’d worked that day, but then he was entirely distracted from his story by her actions.
"Hey, wait! You got to taste it," he said, looking stricken, "How come I can’t?" Did she think he wouldn’t give accurate feedback? He only wanted to help. It wasn’t fair.
He knew she wouldn’t give in anyway, but still he sulked by the counter of the kitchen, wishing their dear danchou was a little more lenient.
After pulling some spice out of the cabinet she shut it with a little more force than necessary, rattling the other miscellaneous jars inside. "What's with you today?" Honestly, he was starting to border on Kano level of annoying.
He was probably hungry, that much she understood, but if he was really that hungry she didn't get why he just didn't pick something out of the fridge.
mama danchou // nurturingeyes
He could just feel how annoyed she was, like a palpable tension in the air, and regretfully he lifted his chin off her shoulder and backed off, he wasn’t going to get her to give in that way. All that was going to do was get him hit or shooed away.
"I guess so," he said sadly, leaning against the counter. He felt as though he might die if he didn’t eat soon, but obviously she felt a little less strongly about the subject.
"Today was reaaaally difficult," he told her. Maybe if he got enough sympathy she’d give him food. It was worth a shot.
She almost felt bad as he sulked away from her like a kicked puppy, but he knew better than to bother her while she was in the kitchen.
She stepped back for a minute to analyze her work, and after a few moments, gave a slight nod then picked up a spoon and took a little taste. ...Not quite there.
"Mmmhm, that so?" She responded, half paying attention to him as she began rummaging through one of the cupboards.

Seto drooped a little, putting the fork back inside the drawer and shutting it again. He wasn’t about to fight her after she said no. She could kick his butt, and also she had a spatula. He was nowhere near prepared to face such impressive force.
"Pleaaaase," he whined, resorting to a level usually only Kano fell to. He rested his chin on her shoulder, his eyes on the food.
He was really, really hungry.
Kido rolled her eyes and continued to ignore him. Which he was making increasingly harder to do. Her level of annoyance was beginning to rise and she began prodding at the food with more aggressiveness than before, not really taking into account how it would affect the food.
When his head found a spot on her shoulder she was almost tempted to smack him with her utensil, harder this time.
"It'll be ready in a little bit, can't you just wait?" She said with a frustrated groan.
mama danchou // nurturingeyes
Seto would feel bad for disturbing her, except for her was very hungry so he totally didn’t. He reached around her to the drawer and rummaged for a fork.
"It smells good, but I think we should do a taste test too, don’t you?" He asked, fully expecting her to boot him out for even suggesting it. He knew Kido hated it when they tried to eat food before it was done, but he was hungry, and it was worth a shot. Maybe she’d take mercy on him today.
His hand finally found a fork in the jumble of silverware and hairpins and ballpoint pens, and he pulled it out, rubbing the tines on the edge of his sleeve, which could not possibly be any cleaner than the drawer was.
Kido peeked her brow and looked up at Seto from her dish. It wasn't a bad idea... but her pride ended up getting the better of her. She straightened her posture and hardened her glare, focusing more on the dish than Seto as she reached for the salt. "You know the rules," she affirmed.
She wished he would just go away. Go hang out with Mary or something. If there was anytime she hated being bothered more than any it was while she was cooking. She rummaged through her pocket and pulled one of the earbuds back up and into her ear, hoping he would take the hint.
mama danchou // nurturingeyes
Seto’s day could be called stressful, but there was still a smile on his face as he let himself into the base. The smell of cooking food only made him smile wider.
"I’m home!" he called, making a beeline for the kitchen. If Kido wasn’t there, maybe he could steal some of the cooking food. If she was, maybe he could wheedle some from her before it was ready. He didn’t want to wait.
When he entered however, Kido was clearly visible in the kitchen and his shoulders sagged. Still, he made his way over to peer over her shoulder. ”That smells really good!” he told her.
Kido gave the dish a slight stir as she bobbed her head up and down with the beat of her music. Overall the day had been relatively peaceful, Kano having left sometime late last night, Mary immersing herself in her flowers, and Seto being gone at work. She was grateful for these rare moments of quiet in the base. It gave her time to experiment with her cooking without countless interruptions.
When she heard the door open and shut, Seto most likely coming home from work, she plucked out her buds and waited for confirmation. After hearing the cheerful greeting and loud heavy footsteps scamper into the kitchen, she gave her spatula a slight wave without taking her eyes off the dish. "Welcome back," Yup, definitely Seto.
She was sloshing the food around experimently when she felt him hovering over her shoulder. "Yup," she said before poking him in the nose with the back end of the spatula. It wasn't obvious, but she did let out a small sigh of relief. If it smelled good to someone else then at least she was on the right path with this new recipe.
