hello. i am a registered nurse in my twenties.

i have a lot of thoughts and feelings about what i do, but my first therapy appointment isn't until december.

i've always wanted to make a zine series, though, so until then, this will do. i anticipate my publishing schedule to be erratic, but i’m shooting for weekly issues.

i keep seeing deodorant ads marketed to nurses where one is like “stress-sweated through my third set of scrubs again; totally not a sign of emotional unraveling.”

why do you think we are emotionally unraveling? it doesn’t matter because it’s better for you to make money off our burnout and pain anyway. i hate you.

a few years ago, a pet youtuber i like collaborated with celsius. he said, “we’re going to give some celsius to the people who love it more than anyone i know— nurses!”

why do you think we need to drink this psuedo-healthy gasoline every day? do you even care? or would you rather just keep selling it to us? i hate you.

our stress and suffering isn’t worth fixing- it’s just a part of the job, isn’t it? we’re always suffering, so why should anything change? after all, so much money would be lost if you lowered patient ratios (i hate you) or returned to 8-hour shifts (i hate you) or actually enforced breaks (i hate you) or let us unionize (i hate you) or gave us the time and resources we need to address moral distress as it happens in the workplace (i hate you)

we know you don’t give a shit about us and never will. i hate you. covid taught us that if you weren’t gonna care about us then, you never will, and you’ve kept us under the pandemic’s horrendous working conditions— even though they were also horrendous before that too. i hate you. everyone knows that you don’t care about patients but you don’t even care about the ones taking care of them. i hate you. the nurses, cnas, providers, respiratory therapists, pt, ot, pharmacy, lab. we hate you.
