Product Design Tasks for today

Todays task (mon 23rd Feb) – Product Design

(1) 1 x A3 mood board on products based on FORM only – by midday

(2) 1 x A3 mood board on products based on FUNCTION only – by midday

(3) Print off, write your name and stick around studio with blu tack provided – by midday

(4) Find a product related exhibition in London – Lunchtime

(5)Research the history of the debate of FORM VS FUNCTION in product design – by 2pm

(6) Team task with Selina – (2-3pm)

(7) Research the history of one product.  – (3.30pm – 5pm)

(8) Mind map for products in the home & definition.  – (3.30pm – 5pm)

(9) Small biography of Donald Norman – author of ‘the design of everyday things’ .  – (3.30pm – 5pm)

The above needs to be completed by Tues  24th Feb!

Student Survey now live -please complete ASAP

Rendering (part 2) tomorrow - 1-3pm

I want to experiment with a few ideas tomorrow to keep you guys busy! so could you kindly all come in on time with your kit (render pens, ruler, pencils, rubber, white pencil even!) & sketchbooks! If you dont have render pens yet dont panic and I will share mine out again. But just to warn you i intend to do render exercises most weeks now! Thank you, Selina :-)

How to obtain site plans for your building - RSA

  go to: www.dartford.gov.uk - this is for Dartford Borough Council

Click on ‘services’ (in the green tab)

Click on ‘planning services’ then ‘planning applications’ (on left hand side)

View existing planning applications, then click on the BIG ’ public access’

then should say ’ planning simple search’ page

in the search window at the bottom enter postcode & press search

Then all the titles listed, should relate to your building. click on one then go the bottom of that page (planning application summary) then look at the  documents available.

Hope you all had a lovely new year?! Just to remind you all that full attendance is required by YEAR ONE on mon 5th Jan, where your new RSA projects will be issued by me. Also I will be requiring all sketchbooks in for marking from the last project on the same day. Non attendance/submission will result in a discipline form being issued......not a great start for the new year?! So dont let me down guys and see you all on Monday!

Orthographic projection - Mon 13th

Over the weekend please refer to the orthographic projection worksheet (attached). As I will be going through this on Monday 13th oct at 1pm. For your soda boat project I will expect to see your final design in orthographic projection and in 1 & 2 point perspective!

GCSE Maths sessions - 3D yr 1

For all 1st year 3D students needing to retake GCSE Maths (3 students in 3D) please attend BOTH sessions: (B slot) - mon 11-12.30 in room DB102 (A slot) - tues 3.30-5pm in room DB102 Attendance is absolutely neccessary!
