      Ah, yes, introductions. The only one thing Miyuki hated about when meeting someone, because then she would be forced to say her first lie to a person whom she just met, telling them a name different, a different life than the truth. “Yasui.” Putting on the smile she has been practicing in front of the mirror, Miyuki took the man’s hand, giving it a quick shake as she smiled all the more, teeth and all. “My name is Yasui Miyuki! A pleasure it is to meet you and as it obvious? That I simply needed a personal chauffeur in case I drink too much?” 

         Head turning to the said stand as he pointed to its direction, Miyuki nodded her head, a few steps towards it already enough for the wonderful scent of grilled meat. Perhaps she really should let loose of herself just for today. She had just finished moving into a new apartment and arranging the little things she had brought along and her body was tired–dead tired from running and worrying in an endless loop. In fact, Miyuki needed this  break, this excuse so desparately that one could almost say that the man was Godsent. Taking her seat by the stand, she playfully gave the table a few rhythmic tap. “Master! Two beers, please. And a yakitori to pair with should be nice but mm, what would you like to get, Jiho-kun?” She winked with a chuckle to follow. “Where are you from? Jiho sounds foreign–Korean, maybe?”

      "You're buying for me, right?" He slipped his hands into his jacket pocket as he watched the girl, taking notice that she was some sort of regular at this rather hole in the wall place. "Uh--yeah, yeah! I'm actually just here on vacation. Sort of," he laughed a pathetic laugh, head dropping as they walked off to the side, waiting for their order, “at least I wish it was that.” It was sad, really, seeing that he’s never had anything that was vacation-esque through the duration of even having this job. It was work. Work. Work. Monday through Sunday. And it’s not like many people even read the paper to begin with, so why did he stick with it? Just to be treated as some beat up slave. It was ridiculous. “And you? Are you from around here? Your name..it sounds Japanese,” a joke, “are you Japanese?”

         He slumped against the side of the stand, sigh radiating through the inside of his mouth after what felt like a good laugh. His stomach surely thought it was. When the order was said and done, he reached out for their food and beverages, handing one after one to Miyuki, nodding off to a nearby bench where they could simply dig in. There was nothing to be embarrassed about at that point, right? He’s done worse, it seemed. “So what’s your story, miss?” Said with a mouth full of yakitori, cheeks as round as could be. Xero would always ask that. What’s your story, your background, your aspirations in life. Anything influential to get through another day of dumb story writing of current events. “You’re a real pretty girl. Surely there has to be a lot.”

[150404] Xero during ‘keep smiling’ performance

      The very moment the man began scolding her, Miyuki’s lips arched into an exaggerated frown, only making her already childish features look all the more childlike as her head dropped down and her eyes closed. And if only she could, then perhaps Miyuki would have topped it off with a dog’s whine. “I’m very sorry…” She mumbled, lower lip puckered out. 

      A thud, however, had her turning her head up once more, eyes round and eyed as she looked up–down at the man on the ground and quickly, Miyuki jogged over to his side while forcing herself not to laugh. 

      How adorable of the stranger to be so clumsy, really, a tiny chuckle escaping from her lips as her fingers carefully wrapped around his arm to pull him up. “Are you alright?” Her head tilted to the side, unable to wipe away the look of pain on her face as she mirrors the expression on the kind man’s face, hands quick to help him dust away the dirt that clung onto the fabric of his clothes, though the other still tightly held onto the bills she had pulled out earlier. “Perhaps this is fate’s way of telling us that you should take the money, hm?” A toothy smile, her eyes curling into tiny crescents. “Or if you’d like, how about a trip to a barbecue stand? Food and beer? I’ve been needing for a mental break, and well, it’s boring drinking alone.” And who knows, perhaps she would end up drinking too much and sleeping on the sidewalk again should she drink all by herself.

      Oh, was his life over then. Even more so when the girl had remained in her place. It would’ve been better for everyone if she would’ve just..walked away. If he hadn’t fallen on his ass in the first place, in front of many, thousands if there was a news crew around -- which didn’t seem all that impossible at this point. It was the script of a romcom, after all. “N-No. No! That’s not it at all.” He struggled picking himself up, patting at the woman’s shoulders as his own way of telling her no, he had this. Palms patting down the mess that was now his jacket, Xero gave his head a little nod, an almost embarrassed one, before holding his hand out. “Not before you introduce yourself first, miss.” And then a bow, actions all quick to somehow gear the woman’s thoughts away from earlier’s accident. “Xe--Ah. Jiho, my name’s Jiho!” 

      A kid at this point, suddenly grateful that the girl hadn’t left him after all. A beer was exactly what he needed now, especially after a week of constant work and humiliation. “Are you sure? Or do you just want someone to carry you home if you get a little too tipsy?” He held his index finger and thumb out about a centimeter far from each other, a small laugh leaving his mouth before bowing once more, though not due to the fact that they just met each other, but merely out of gratitude. Truly, he was grateful for this girl. Spending anymore money and he wouldn’t have enough to blow the day after. He pointed behind the girl, free hand patting atop her clothed shoulder. “That one. That one over there?”

      Two and a half months. Two and a half months ever since Miyuki left her hometown, ever since she was forced to abandon the life she used to have just to keep herself from the dangers of death and if only she didn’t have the need to look over her shoulders every after a second, then maybe she would have found her trip enjoyable rather than tiring, noticed the wonderful morning and night view that is always presented before her in every city that she wounded up in. Harajuku was wonderful; the people that walked around its streets odd with their choice of fashion, the sidewalks filled with stores and restaurants of many kinds, yet rather than taking it all in with a grin on her face, Miyuki is left to worry instead, her footsteps quick, her head turned down to hide away from anyone. 

      The anxiety that left her heart beating frantically only upped as a hand placed over her shoulder, the brunette’s eyes wide as she looked up at the man, then at the familiar, red wallet that was presented before her – or rather, shoved before her face and quickly, Miyuki grabbed it with a thank you, her face almost as red as the tiny purse as she hid it behind her and bowed her head down. 

         Wonderful. Just as when she thought that she couldn’t get any more troublesome, she had bothered a stranger by dropping her wallet. 

      “I… I’m very sorry…” Was the first thing that escaped her lips once she had finally straightened her back, left hand moving up to tuck away the strands of her hair behind her right ear, eyes still downcast and lips still pursed into a frown. “And thank you very much. I, it would have been hell for me if I had truly lost this.” Waving the wallet in her other hand, Miyuki chuckled, forcing herself to smile to keep the man from worrying, if he even was. “Ah! Here,” Quickly, she unzipped her wallet’s zipper and fished out a few bills, holding it out to the male as a sort of reward for him. “A token of my gratitude… I hope it isn’t too small.”

     “Oh--” Though it’s not to say the offer exactly shocked him, it did, but..there was no way he could take it. Putting his hands out before him, Xero pushed the girl’s hands down in hopes of avoiding a verbal approach. “Thanks but no thanks, miss.” Then a bow, his hair falling before his face before he had to push it back up. “You just need to be more careful!” Xero held out his finger, practically scolding the girl at this point as if he were some sort of mother. 

       Well: he kind of looked the part, anyway.

       Remain calm and collected, he told himself. Standing up straight, hands at his sides, forcing himself not to yell at any bystanders that happened to shove him to the side. Chin up. No staring. The girl was just too cute to act a fool in front of. “How could you have forgotten something as big as that? It’s nearly the size of my head..” And for a split second, it’s as if the silence given between them was the deal breaker, the awkwardness that had arose around him enough to scare the girl away. Which he had hoped wouldn’t happen. At least not anytime soon. “T-Then..see you.” A single wave at his hand and he quickly spun on the heel of his boot, the toe of it getting caught up in the unleveled patterning in the sidewalk below causing not only an embarrassing scene -- and maybe a reputation ruining one, if he had it to begin with -- but a rather painful one. Cheek smashed into the pavement, palms flat out against the same surface. Maybe he could use those few extra dollars, just to drink away the pain.

it’s only been a day and i already feel..uncomfortable. like i’m not supposed to be here even after so long

     There were simply two good things about his weekly newspaper job: the pay (well, sort of) and the traveling. The traveling was what lured him in the first place. Europe, the Americas, and the one he’d never grow tired of: the land of the rising sun. Gourmet food at the end of every corner, bright lights to make it seem as if night never took to the skies. It was a city of adventure. Nighttime -- 8PM to be exact -- when he walked the crowded streets of Harajuku all by his lonesome, finding some time to kill from his busy job with a little shopping. Of course, with the little money he had. Which wasn’t much. The array of bright colors, the surplus of people, the smell of fried, sweet foods originating from nearby cafes. He could get lost in there all night and still wouldn’t find a reason to complain. 

      How foolish to be so optimistic for once. 

      A bright red wallet crossed his path, through the crowds, against the cold hard floor in the middle of the square. A loud “ugh” leaving his stuffed with food mouth before bending down to take into his own possession. Though luckily he’s seen the owner as it happened, merely seconds before he knew some deviant would try and take it before him. “Miss!” He yelled out, hand waving in the air with the occupied hand around his mouth, “Miss..wait!” Xero pushed and shoved, and he was pushed and shoved back, fell to the ground a couple of times, got yelled out. All for this stupid act of kindness. “You dropped this!” He called out again and again. Was the girl hard of hearing? How annoying, he thought. Finally through what seemed like running through an obstacle course of people, he grabbed the girl’s left shoulder before turning her around, walled held before her face as he was too out of breath for words.

Yes. { ` Miyuki answered monotonously in defeat, eyes rolling as she sighed and crossed her arms together after taking a step back. } Yes, you’re very handsome I could almost drop my pants down right here and take you. Happy?

W--(/ he drops his pose, back immediately straightening out before stuffing his hands into his jacket pockets, looking around as if anybody heard that.) I don’t believe I know you, miss. Bye.

Shut–shut it! { ` Quickly placing her hand over the man’s mouth, Miyuki hisses, holding her finger up to her lips. } Shh. We don’t talk about the Toe. Shut up.

 Then admit it! (/he stomped his foot onto the ground, much like a child, hands at his hips before swatting her hand away.) Admit that I’m better looking! M-Maybe not as rich, but..that doesn’t matter. You’d still love me, rich or poor.

Most probably an ex, if any. { ` Lifting a brow up, Miyuki crosses her arms by her torso, as though loosely hugging herself. } You’re too ugly, and seemingly poor to be my boyfriend.

{ ` Miyuki jumped, head quickly turning to see who it was before making a full turn to see the man before her. } Thou art who.

      "This is impossible!" Xero yelled loud enough to disrupt the entire cafe, banged his fists hard enough against the surface of the single-personed table for his cup of coffee to spill over onto his jeans. Just how badly could this day ruin him? First being unable to complete the story on time, then this? Train of thought nearly engulfed with rage, he threw his hood over his head, mumbling to himself whilst the nearest waiter brought him a rag, insisting they’d clean up his mess. How nice of them, but he had to refuse. Mumbling a undecipherable “thank you”, he had the mess cleaned up within seconds, despite the large stain left on his pants. Back to work. “I’ll never get this article finished..” But why did that even matter? It was just an article. He wanted bigger, better things. A book or two, even a series! No one had the time and place for that, though. “Secretary suspected of blah, blah, blah.” Emphasis on the last blah as he violently pressed down on the enter key. Next sentence. One second passed..then another..and Xero couldn’t help but feel as if someone were watching him. Someone..cute. He fidgeted around some before looking over his shoulder, eyes immediately looking at not the girl, but what she had before her. Then the cute girl. “Ah..” He wanted to speak out, wanted to ask what she was working on, then that would mean having to explain what he was working on. Embarrassing, really, and in no way did it count as an acceptable first impression. “H-Hello.”
