hello, i’m back! i’ve missed all of you. if you’d like to know about my hiatus ( ? ) , read more under the cut.

as some of you know, i was away due to a case of the flu. it wasn’t that bad in the beginning ( all things considered ) then i got hit with a bad wave of the worst symptoms imaginable. it lasted for about 2 1/2 weeks but then i learned i had a few complications with my heart. i’m fine, though. i have an appointment with a cardiologist tomorrow but that’s why i was away much longer than expected. thank you to those who have been patient.

“ what do you think? ” yaz said when he noticed someone beside him. he had his hands clasped behind his back and a thoughtful look on his face as he mulled over one of the paintings he had on display. he didn’t do this often — have nights where people came to critique and possibly buy his art— so he didn’t know the proper etiquette and waiting backstage was getting boring (it’s not like he had a speech to give or something, well he didn’t think he needed to give one. he wasn’t that pretentious ) so yazid decided to have a little wander. “ sometimes i think it’s a bit … i don’t know hard to connect to, i feel. ” he stated. this always happened, he was very critical of his own work and how the blues swirled against the gray background or the mistake he tried to cover up all those nights ago when he was sleep deprived and a little hazy that he could see blatantly taunting him.

the brunette stands idle in front of a painting, chestnut irises scanning the piece of work before her. it if weren’t for her mother, nyala wouldn’t bother attending this event. it wasn’t very appealing. several creations were difficult to connect with — especially this one in particular. with impenetrable eyes, she simply scrutinizes while searching for an underlying concept or message ; a male’s voice interrupts her train of thought. she bestows a quick glance before clearing her throat. ❝ i am really not much of an art hoe but — ❞ a pause to simply inhale and exhale ;  she begins to twiddle the rings on her fingers.  ❝ the brushstrokes seem lazy and jaded, as if drawn by a child. YIKES! the color scheme is alright in my book. though, i think the blue could be less saturated. the color is so bright, almost blinding. kinda tacky. tackier than that woman’s knockoff jimmy choo pumps. i dunno what this painting makes me FEEL, or what it’s supposed to make me feel. i don’t feel joyous or depressed or anything. i guess i’d like to have more details on what the hell is going on ‘cause i’m fucking confused. ❞ perhaps that was a much more elaborate response than intended. nonetheless, nyala gives only an honest answer.

        “ i don’t even like guys that much. ” she whined–and that was a lie because she’d spent a night with one some days ago but nyala probably didn’t remember that. yulia didn’t ever acknowledge her mom’s wealth but she respected nyala’s job and wanted to be there for her best friend. . “ fine but i’m so HOLDING you to that promise. ” yulia mumbled to her friend as she  took the dress from her friend. albeit hesitating as she looked over the tight dress her friend offered her. the two had very different styles. yulia would prefer to stick to her dark makeup, over-sized sweater and thigh highs ( the ones that made her mom do double takes ) for events like these. “ what do you think? ” she mumbled, adjusting the straps on her shoulder and looking at her friend, unsure about the dress.

           nyala planned to ignore that comment. yet, she couldn’t halt a breathy laugh. with a small shake of her head, she speaks.  ❝  mmmkay, now that’s a damn lie and you know it — ❞  if it weren’t obvious, the girl is beyond THRILLED that her best friend is attending ( as if she really had much of a choice ). a ridiculously huge smile is etched upon her features. ❝ and you know i keep my promises. tomorrow, it’ll be just you and i — featuring two large, buttery buckets of popcorn. ❞ the girl waits on the edge of her bed, barely able to contain her excitement. moments pass and the dress is slipped on. within seconds, nyala offers several nods of approval  before squealing with DELIGHT.  ❝  — i think... i deserve a fucking award for picking such a gorgeous dress. it’s sexy but simple. love it! now, give me a runway walk or something!  ❞
