when i was a kid, in about 2014, my good friend and I wanted to make an RPG together. to test our dialogue system, he wrote a conversation about one of the characters filling a lawnmower with salsa and being unable to turn it off

in 2019, Toby Fox posted early dev documents of Deltarune, which had dialogue of Lancer filling a lawnmower with salsa and being unable to turn it off. these documents were dated. 2012

i need you to understand.

this has haunted me for years. is this a reference. or parallel thought. or something. how did two people who had never heard of each other happen to write the same weirdly specific joke about a side party member filling a lawnmower with salsa

Last month I caught Covid, and right at the start of my symptoms I saw this post. For the next 8ish days, I was HAUNTED by this song. It played on a loop in my head for hours. I would wake up in the middle of the night covered in sweat singing “…mixed with Zach Galifianakis” as it bounced around in my virus-addled brain. It was literally inescapable.

Anyway as soon as that ended, the Morbin Time memes started so you can imagine how that went for me, who would be deliriously sick for another 5 days.

really everyone you love has something miserably wrong with them or an obvious flaw that won't ever be fixed but like it's up to you what kind of person you can and cannot deal with. someone in my family has anger issues which I can handle and diffuse with no problem, but a person who can't tolerate yelling could not be close to him. another person I know is very anxious & needs constant reassurance and she gets along famously with gentler and more straightforward people than myself, but I can't handle being second guessed all the time. someone who is loosey goosey with their morals wouldn't bother me, but a person with a profound sense of justice makes me feel afraid of getting on their bad side. none of these traits actually make someone a bad person & just because there are personalities I can't handle doesnt mean I'M a bad person either. litany against callout posts for stupid shit and simple incompatibilities we all have to live on this earth together & need to learn how to deal with each other
