Once again thinking about the impact Carlos had on Marcus and how without that relationship, Marcus would have spent his life alone and without a real family. Thinking about how Carlos gave Marcus a family and home and a reason to live and fight. Finally gave him everything he needed and a place to discover who he was outside of familial expectations.

Thinking about how his death destroyed Marcus and how he haunted the narrative until the bitter end because everything was tied back to Carlos whether Marcus realised that or not. His relationship with Adam, with Dom, with the military. Everything was about Carlos

Gotta say I’m so so excited for GoW E-day to release and to play it, but also I’m definitely not excited for the media illiterate troglodytes who are not going to be able to wrap their minds around the fact that Marcus Fenix hasn’t become Marcus Fenix yet because of how story and character development work. He isn’t going to have 14ish years of combat experience, he hasn’t gone to prison yet. It’s so evident in his character model, he looks much younger, and he’s missing his iconic facial scar, because he hasn’t grown into what he is quite yet and I’m very excited to play through that development. Not excited for the brain dead takes that are around the corner.

I need to know what Marcus and Anya's wedding looked like.

Was it semi-formal or straight-up dress blues formal? Probably took place at the estate -- it used to be a vineyard, tons of beautiful sites to have a ceremony and reception.

Was it incredibly tiny and intimate, or were they pressured to go All Out on account of their relative celebrity?

Were Bernie and Sam bridesmaids, or did they just not bother with all that?

Did Baird catch the garter? Or better yet, the bouquet? Sam laughing her ass off.

Did they set honorary places for Dom and Carlos? Their parents?

Or could neither of them abide the entire overblown affair, and just handled it courthouse style, once and for all?

I keep thinking about this post.

It’s different. Marcus thinks. Not bad different, but different.

A lifetime ago, he was in these same dress blues for Dom and Maria‘s wedding.

Now Dom‘s wedding was big, maybe not as big as a wedding for himself probably would’ve been back then, but the Santiago‘s were an actual family with lots of friends. His own marriage would’ve been an annoying political event.

It was a big deal for the Santiago family when the two small sixteen year olds got married. Marcus glances at himself in the mirror and then turns to watch Doms father, Eduardo, help his son fasten his bow tie, they both looked a little pale.

Their father—no, shit, Mister Santiago, put a reassuring hand on Doms shoulder.

“It’s going to be okay, son.”

“I know, dad.”

He blinks and it’s gone, he’s back here alone staring into the mirror and realizes he looks so different from the man that first put on the dress blues for that wedding.
