@vintrove @vinsketchbook Extremely talented. Some next level stuff. Commissioned them twice and both times they blew me away with the end product.

Not Here?
Don’t be sad! Many reasons could be the cause. Maybe we’ve just not interacted enough. Or maybe I’ve not seen many of your posts. Maybe I overlooked you because I’m silly. Any of these could be a reason. If you don’t see yourself here, it does not mean I don’t appreciate you. I do. You’re a part of what makes this community great and I have all the respect for you.
Here’s to the Oathsworn Vanguard’s 7th anniversary!
OOC: Updates, News, and Plans
So first and foremost, I’m still alive, rumors of my “death”, etc etc. In short I’ve been working two jobs and going to school to get a secondary degree.
Second finally done with those two classes so huzzah that, just leaves one last class to complete over the summer.
Third I’ve about a million and one ideas running through my head for about 18 different characters whom I need to write and have also started the Project XIV story, which I doubt is any good but will be released when I feel I’ve a solid handle on it.
With the status updates finished we move onto news.
1. I’ve recently been messing about with the FFXIV community and such and learned that for the most part they are an amazing bunch of creative people.
2. That being said, it does not mean I intend to leave WoW, I’ve still a great deal to do with the @oathswornvanguard and there are many stories to finish and tell.
3. In regards to all the new followers, let me first thank each of you as I’ve no feckin clue why you’re doing so given I don’t put out much in the means of content. That being said I appreciate it all the more.
4. Last bit for news. As stated before I’m rather new to the FFXIV community as a whole, as such I apologize for any toes I’ve stepped on. Still trying to navigate the waters and such, make folks day a bit happier, and stay the hell out of politics of any kind within it. Apologies to anyone I’ve might have irked in the process, I swear it’s been unintentional and if you’d like to talk to me about it, my IMs are always open. (Granted I’ve no idea if I’ve irked anyone I’m kinda a dork and a half and always nervous about interacting with people because I’m worried I’ll somehow feck up or do something stupid without meaning to).
Right now that I’ve that massive load of dear god why, that’s been gnawing at my psyche, because I am an anxiety prone lad who’s trying to work past my antisocial tendencies it’s time to discuss plans!
1. Simple terms I think I’ll be able to push forwards at least one of two new stories in the next week or so, so please keep your eyes out.
2. @integrabrenagh apologies I know I’ve three asks from you, they’re in the works and one won’t be on the Ith profile, but directly on the @captainbrenagh profile which I’ll be using for Jim’s stories.
3. As stated beforehand Project XIV is in the works and I’m currently just checking to make sure that everything is lore friendly (I’ve no idea what I’m doing please don’t murder me). Big thanks to @renataturner the lore book its been a massive help.
4. Finally, to all my brother’s and sisters with the Oathsworn Vanguard, I want to apologise for my absence or lack of activity, the last five months have been kicking my arse and made me a bit distant and um…well not the easiest officer to approach I get that. Promise that I’ve something awesome in the works, just need to finish writing it out and maybe get @theodorebennas help with the new Dicemaster features.
In closing, hoping you’re all doing awesome, that life hasn’t got you down and that you enjoy your three day weekend.
Thank you all and try to have an awesome day!
Reblog if you have an amazing RP partner.
[ @karidakdellanir Very obviously the very best. No one could ever convince me otherwise ]
@integrabrenagh here's looking at you kid <3
OOC: Shanghaied Updates Abound
So brief story, bout a week or so ago a buddy of mine @gereionkingston got me the starter set for FFXIV. Won’t lie I’m right properly in love with the game, which us delaying actual WoW content for me blog. Won’t lie this place is beyond magical and it has multi-classing, player housing, mass customization, an amazing story, and the people I’ve met so far on my adventures are so nice and supportive! Playing out of Mateus and working on my lad’s story and such, more to follow. We’ll refer to it as Project XIV, and given I’ve spent way too much time reading the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, I’ll be trying first person story telling for the first time. Stay tuned for that.
In other news I’ve an alt blog @captainbrenagh dealing with the youngest of the Brenagh brothers, expect stories from there soon.
Finally in regards to being Shanghaied, me old man has me working working on three brews here for me wee sisters engagement parties, an amber ale, an Irish Stout, and something I refer to as a Belgian Triple (9% by vol). Laughing and drinking with me fellow cohorts as we work on this. I’ll have a follow up as we get shite working and such and names for each.
May you all have a blessed Sunday.
What are Ithaeriel's current goals? How close is he to achieving them?
The big lad tilted his head as if pondering the question himself before scratching at his chin.
“In truth, I’ve very few goals”, he used his fingers to air-quote the word for emphasis, “I suppose we’ll keep it short sweet and to the point then aye? First, to live through this feckin war. Been fightin’ for a long as I can remember, orc, scourge, demons, the like…gets a wee bit feckin nerve wracking when ye think of how many time ye ought ta have died but didnae. There but for the grace o’ the Allfather go I iff’n ye get me. Second, ta feckin finally plan out me wedding and such ta me lovely kaldorei lass, been keep this waiting long enough, suppose the two o’ us ought ta finally settle down inta the buisness o’ plannin it out. Lass be a wee bit baby crazy ‘ere since me brother and his lass, the boss as it were, had their first wee one. Figure this way we can be all official and such and none o’ the kids end up as bastards. Third…and this is long term mind ya…reclaim Gilnaes and the Elvin territories…we didnae start this, but by thunder, we’ll sure as hell finish it.”
He pauses a moment not really sure how to continue, “Truth be I donnae really set goals…if ye nae have ‘em ye nae have ta worry about achieving them…honestly I’d like to think I’m doing fairly well on the first, maybe closer ta the second…but the third…I’ve nae feckin’ clue.”
He shakes his head going very quiet, very still, his eyes seem to cloud as if miles away and in another time…
“I…I think, I’d be liking ta be alone now…got a deal ta stew over iff’n ye donnae mind Miss.”

Through the Eyes of Marshal Bennas
The Marshal’s gold and azure boots bit into the nigh waterlogged soil of the Drowned Lands of Stormsong with each step. His eyes darted to Marshal Kingston’s position and his own captives before his gaze refocused on the bound Horde soldiers before him.
It had been a long skirmish that turned into a battle. The Marshal mused to himself as he reflected on the day. His mind drifted to the Vanguard’s entrance upon the killing field outside the little town of Deadwash. He recalled how they, himself, Marshal Kingston, Lieutenant Myferae, and the Sergeant Major Aegis, charged into battle like angels resplendent against the skirmishing Horde.
A grim smile crossed his features as he recalled the first hero of the Horde they faced: an orcish warrior that taunted Marshal Kingston with a single yawn. Then how Gereion yawned in return as the Marshal took the orc’s head in a blow. The Master of Summerfast reflected on the Zandalari warrior, adorned in the pomp and majesty of Pandaren armor. The irony of the Zandalari adorned in the armor of a people his ancestors and perhaps his comrades sought to oppress did not escape Theodore.
He thought of the two Zandalari, a druid and a shaman, who thought him alone as they rushed to meet him headlong only to realize too late their error as the jaws of Integra’s mighty sons and daughters snapped shut.
He pondered the bloody toll the Vanguard had reaped on the Horde on this day, the orc’s hand which Theodore severed with a cut following an oblique step to the right before thrusting Libertas’ tip into his throat, and finally the cowering deserters before him. Men and women that fled, leaving their fellows to the 7th Legion and the Vanguard beside them.
“I have heard it said that the Horde is a family.” Theodore Bennas began as he rested his hand on the hilt of the runeblade, “But on this day, you turned your back on your family. You had sought the preservation of your own lives before that of your comrades. Such behavior is beyond cowardly. It is desertion and the only remedy for such a crime is death. In these moments, you are not Horde. You are men and women without honor and banners.”
Libertas flew from its scabbard as the Marshal drew the runeblade in a single cut upwards. The elven longsword sang as it tore through the air and cut down the first prisoner, a Zandalari troll. The second in the line was a sin’dorei woman, gold of hair and an expression of defiance that began to change. But she would not show the same fear that had caused her to abandoned her fellows. Theodore would not permit it as his hands and sword descended from the high guard on his right side in a downward, diagonal cut. Libertas cut true and cleanly.
At long last there was one more, a Forsaken that cursed and fought against his bindings, “Relish your victory will you can, human. Your sick crusader ilk will be blighted from this world like the filth you are.”
Theodore allowed him to speak. That grim smile shifted into only the smallest of frowns. His expression was not anger or disdain but weariness, “Your fate was sealed when you stepped foot on Kul Tiran soil. I relish nothing about this. Not this war, not this battle, and not your death.” Theodore grabbed the longsword by the strong of the blade close to its base and turned the elven blade upside down and swung the crossguard down at the Forsaken’s head.
It was quiet as the final deserter fell. But only for a moment as the thundering sound of the Horde reinforcements came from across the Drowned Lands. The Marshal turned his attention to his fellow Marshal then the Lieutenant and then the Sergeant Major. Their decision was unspoken and unanimous. “Our work here is done. Nicely done, Vanguard.” Theodore spoke over the Communicator as he turned and departed the field of battle with his comrades at his side.
(This is a write up of IC world PvP that @gereionkingston @denizen-myf and Aegis, who doesn’t have a tumblr did. During our PvP antics, even while we were outnumbered, some Horde players would leave their fellow combatants behind and try to escape. Gereion also wrote a write up about this event and you can check it out here.)
Through the Eyes of Marshal Kingston
Gereion hefted his axe over his shoulder, the battle over for the moment and with it came the murmur of captured and wounded soldiers.
His eyes followed the neat line of captured Horde before looking around and taking note of Bennas’ location.
“Desertion is the most heinous crime one can commit to his own people.” Gereion’s voice was raised, talking to the line of captives regardless of if they could understand him at all. “And the punishment for this crime, is death.”
In a fluid motion the axe left the Marshal’s shoulder, slicing through the nearby troll’s neck. “Y’all came onto Alliance Soil.” His voice carried over the now silent field as a Nightborne was now executed
“You abandoned your comrades!” This turn was an orc in elegant robes. “And y’all had the audacity to flee without the chemicals being released.”
The last in his line was a Tauren who stared at him with begging eyes. Gereion’s hand moved to gently pat her on the head for a moment before he put the axe through her neck
With the last of his captives properly put down he scanned the horizon. A large Horde force had gathered nearby and was quickly making their way over. He made one last note on what Bennas was doing before putting the axe back over his shoulder and walking away from the front “I’ve overstayed my welcome.”
(( This is a write up of some IC world PvP that @theodorebennas @denizen-myf and another guildie not on tumblr (Aegis) did in Stormsong where we continued to notice that even in 4v4 - 4v5 fights, Horde players would abandon their groups to save themselves.))
Noblegarden’s On Its Way
A quiet hush settle the air over Fort Integra, it is three hours before dawn, large figures can be seen gathering in the courtyard with baskets of what appears to be assorted toys, candies, and goods of all sorts stuffed into wee colorful plastic eggs. The group quiets down as their leader, a worgen of gargantuan proportions takes the stage.
“My glorious brothers and sisters of the 10th Company, as per tradition, it is our favorite time of year!”
“Brewfest?!?”
“No, our other favorite time of the year.”
“Hollowsend?”
“No our other other favorite time of the year.”
“Wintersveil?”
“No what, feck it, it’s Noblegarden time!”
A chorus of “Ohs” rise up from the gathering.
“As you know I’ve divided you into four regions, your mission, to hide eggs filled with treats and rewards for all the good lads and lasses of the Alliance. Our counterparts amongst the Horde have confirmed that they have their cities covered this year, to prevent any…unpleasantness.”
A mummer of agreement rises from the gathering.
“Ladies, gentlemen, you may now affix your bunny ears! Prepare your baskets! And as your march let forth our glorious war song!”
As one, the men and women of the 10th affix their bunny ears, pick up their baskets and begin chanting,
“Here comes Worgen Missintail
Lopin’ down the Garden trail
Laughingly lopin’, Noblegarden starts today!
Bringin’ every lass and lad
Loads of candies to be had
Things to make Noblegarden full of yay!
He’s got jelly babies for Tommy
Colored eggs for sister Sue
There’s an orchid for your mommy
And a Noblegraden bonnet too
Oh! Here comes Worgen Missintail
Lopin’ down the Garden trail
Laughingly lopin’, Noblegarden starts today!
Here comes Worgen Missintail
Lopin’ down the Garden trail
Laughingly lopin’, Noblegarden starts today!
Try to do the things you should
Maybe if you’re extra good
He’ll roll lots of Garden eggs your way
You’ll wake on Noblegarden mornin’
And you’ll know that he was there
When you find those chocolate worgen
That he’s hiding everywhere
Here comes Worgen Missintail
Lopin’ down the Garden trail
Laughingly lopin’, Noblegarden starts today!
Laughingly lopin’, Noblegarden starts today!”
Ithaeriel Brenagh, Marshal of the Oathsworn Vanguard’s 10th Company smiles to himself before motioning his siblings over as the troops pour out, on their mission to spread joy to all the good lads and lasses of the Alliance.
“We have a special mission, Operation Best First Noblegarden Ever! We shall hide the eggs about the Fort and Tavern, we shall make the tracks of the flower in the shape of the prints of the Bunny, and we shall bring joy to Little Lori and the rest of the Vanguard children!”
With that, they set about their duty, the sun still hidden, the moons still high and laughter filling the air.
Happy Easter and Noblegarden to you all!
Stormsong Investigation, a story
(Office of the 9th Oathsworn Vanguard, Boralus)
“Tidesages are inexplicably disappearing and merchants are no-longer traveling to or from Stormsong. The Vanguard has been called in to investigate. We also know that Horde are in the area so let’s remain vigilant. Steel yourselves and meet me at the location marked on this map before the crack of dawn.”
(Tidecross, Stormsong Valley)
Once gathered at the location, the Vanguard embark on the path up the hill. Upon observation rounding the corner, a squad of Horde patrollers are spotted. The Vanguard takes notice that the troll of the squad is healing, and swiftly dispatches him. Shortly after the rest of the patrol squad fall beneath the blade.
Day break, the sun peeks over the horizon. Something peculiar is found on the path. A decaying merchant lay decrepitly on the ground, beside him is a satchel, and clean dagger. The satchel contained 2 jugs of mead marked with “The Shark, M.R.” and several silver coins etched with a kraken on them. A certain Kul Tiran Vanguardian is particularly happy about the mead. The party continues up hill to a small camp.
In the tent is a broken of Forsaken Jaw, and large boot prints are spotted heading across an adjacent bridge. At which point, the party is ambushed by 4 Forsaken footmen. They are eliminated with ease, and no injuries were reported. A puddle was spotted and the Vanguard did their due diligence in posting slip hazard signs in accordance with OSHA guidelines. They continue across the bridge following.
The bridge was rickety but all crossed successfully, and continued along a cliffside. A groggy looking Tidesage, later learned to be Brother Stewart, passes the party and looks like he just woke up, he gives the party a stink eye. Following Brother Stewart was Sister Lelani, who also eyes us as she passes, and seems on the alert. Finally, a burly type sage, Brother Thurgood confronts us on the path. “Where you lot headin’?” A Vanguardian Paladin attempts to actually gain useful information and directions when, behind them, Brother Stewart and Sister Lelani ambush them. This fight caught them by surprise, a Demon Hunter was briefly taken out of combat and slowly drowned in a magic water globule, but heroically, the spell was broken and the DH made it out alright.
After the Brothers were taken care of, a Hunter froze Sister Lelani with an ice trap, incapacitating her from the neck down. An interrogation followed, and tidbits of information were revealed, but not a whole picture, she then conjured water in her lungs and took her secrets to the grave.
Following the encounter chanting can be heard from what sounds like the top of the cliff. The party investigates, and when they reach the top of the cliff, they spot a sage in the distance, pointing and yelling, before he breaks into a full winded sprint to a camp. The Vanguard persue, and come upon the one who gave signal, and the one performing a ritual. They were hastily picking up after themselves but the party arrived just in time. They were weak, and fell quickly to the onslaught of the 9th Oathsworn Vanguard. After pilfering through the camp to find any useful information, they discover a kraken idol, and some literature. It seems to be a list of things needed for a ritual. “Wake of the waterfall, crest of the creek, flow of the fathoms, tentacle idol, and a sacrifice"
The Vanguard has a fluttering moment to think things over before a Tauren Hunter is spotted behind them, who had watched the whole thing. The Tauren knew some common and was able to inform that the sages were at a tidepost across a creek, and they were doing something or another. The party proceeds and investigates to find the post is augmented with a statue of what looks to be a large tentacle. It is also neatly bound together with thick rope from a ship’s mooring lines, and robust steelwork. Hung by the post is a pot of everburning coals, as if an effigy had been set ablaze and has reduced to cinders. At the base is a text written in an ancient language. ”The depths whisper to the devoted, the sacrifice empowers the sage. Burn the idol at the horseshoe and converge where three become one.” They notice the creek they are at makes a horseshoe.
Continuing on with a riddle to solve, the Vanguard spots another Horde patrol squad and is successfully able to evade them. Below the hill where the tidepost was, flows a waterfall and run of extremely fast rushing water to get to the next fall. Elder Giovanni is a sage of the cult they are discovering. The party finds him here channeling and morphing a huge ball of deep blue water with hints of purple coursing within. He sends an apprentice on gryphon back off with a full pale heading north. On sight the Elder attacks the Vanguard, and while they were successful, unfortunately they did sustain some serious damage here and there.
They then searched the Elder, as you do, and find a letter, likely from the gryphon back courier. “The Chancellor began the ceremony already and urges haste, Hugrarin and Helfaron were successful in delivering the crest of the creek, though they were murdered by some meddling mainlanders and a Drust. Be wise and wary.” The medics tended to the injured, and together the party pressed on with the new clue.
On the path, the party comes across 2 burly sages harassing a younger lad. When they spot us, the younger one immediately puts his hands up and requests aid. The Vanguard remains wary as they assist the guy. One burly sage gets beat up and runs off, and the other haphazardly falls backward off a cliff. The young lad turns out to be Brother Winston, and he is eternally grateful. Brother Winston, though of modest skill will do what he believes is right, and not stoop to the madness of the secret Tidesage cult. Winston tells the party that the cult actually calls themselves the Krakens counsel, in an effort to not sound so culty. He reveals that the leader goes by the title “Chancellor” and he has three Elders that serve as his generals. Brother Winston also knows where “three become one” and leads the Vanguard on horseback to the site.
The Vanguard arrives at a site that would inspire awe. Tucked away in the hills was an almost perfect crescent shaped cliff face, glistening with every flash of lightning in the background. Etched away into the cliff face by natural wear, was three bold streams of water, falling majestically down to a tier above the water, before converging into one wide and flat fall to the bottom. Elder Tidesage Goodwin is at the three falls is doing a ritual alike the previous Elder discovered. Once found out, Elder Goodwin calls Brother Winston a weakling and a traitor, and blasts him off the cliff to fall to his death below. In the fight he conjured up wake aberrations that berated the party like waves and a Dwarf lost his sanity. Once again the Vanguard prevailed and did away with the second Elder of the Krakens counsel.
When the clamour of battle subsided, they heard comotion down below in the town of Sagehold. The party ventured to the cliff edge in time to spot a gathering of 5 tidesages bearing the green and blue colors of Stormsong, and other, nefarious intentioned sages wearing purple robes, who were surrounding the innocents. Then emerged an armor clad man, though no clear shot at the front of him was made visible. He raised his right hand dismissively, and the purple robed sages in one fell swoop, executed the tidesages. Murdered them, in cold blood. The armored man must have been the Chancellor. The decision was made by the Vanguard, to call in reinforcements. It was no longer an investigation.

Ith looks at the flyer finally getting a better understanding for what this high actually is.
“Ah…so it’s a festival of sorts combine with competitions of skill…”
He scratches at his beard, his rust-red hair worn loose and begins to look over the list of remaining games with some interest as he gets dressed.
“Hmmmm, this Tow the Line one looks a might interesting…right so…we drag anchors…hmmmm…up hill…first person wins…”
He tilts his head and looks at the registration from he recalls being left on his desk last night by Marshal Bennas and the prompting to get his head outta his arse and experience life by Marshal Kingston.
“I mean…it could nae hurt ta take part in it aye? T'would be right fun…chance ta experience things from ma’s side ‘o the family…”
He shakes his head and makes point to leave the heavy 7th Legion Plate on its stand next to the massive Claymore.
“Doubt I’ll be needing those tanight, mean if push come ta shove could always shift and rip a man a new one.”
He stares at his hands, a soft smile slowly spreading from the knowledge that he really never needed weapons to get the job done….aside from that, this was the main trade port of Kul Tiras, and despite having been recalled from the front, he’d never made a point of actually exploring the city.
“Feck it…could use a wee bit 'o rest and relaxation. Also been a long while since I got ta enjoy things. I mean, nae a feckin thing ta do taday…”
He smiles and begins filling out the form. Honestly, the big man doubted he’d really win anything, being not overly familiar with the games of his Mother’s people…but still…
He shook his head smiling to himself as he grabbed a loose fitting shirt bearing the markings of the Oathsworn and a tabard, wondering if there was still time to get this in before the festivities started. Regardless, if he was allowed to compete he’d at least make the best showing he could, for the honor of the Oathsworn Vanguard!

75% of writing is convincing yourself that your story is worth it
It is. In case you were wondering. Your story is worth the effort you are putting into it. It’s an amazing thing because you are writing it.
My brain: New story idea!! Must write now!
Me: okay… what’s the plot..?
My brain: Hmm, plot? No, no, no, none of that here, my good friend, my good sir, my good ma’am, but may I offer you an overall general Vibe, an aesthetic if you will, a vague feeling to convey, a-

Night quickly swept over the expanse of Stormwind City, causing shadows to grow in the alleys and streets. Even though the City Guard was out and monitoring the place, it felt strangely peaceful. Perhaps it was the false sense of security most occupants felt due to the many veterans living in the city. Beyond the Dwarven District’s stone wall was a stretch of greenery that had recently been used for King Anduin’s contingency point. You could see water pooling into a small lake at the base of one of the buildings. Kneeling by these waters was a druid covered in ceremonial leathers with green iridescent crests that complemented the Mother Moon. While she was a Kaldorei, she appeared much smaller than ordinary female elves; though her meek smaller form compensated for something else. A grace that was generally gifted to disguised dragons cultivated her features and expression. A gentle breeze swept by her as she raised her cowl to hide her features. Her moonlit eyes searched for the approaching visitor who was surely coming to see her.
The visitor, a little gnome who was unaware she was expected, had been on her nightly walk. Wearing a hooded dark cloak, she walked quickly despite her exhaustion from a mixture of insomnia and PTSD. The park was one of her favorite places to walk when she felt this way. It was nicely lit, and she didn’t have to worry as much about who else was in the area because she knew some of the guards. However, tonight was different because she had a purpose for the walk. She was looking for someone.
