PLACEBO

NAME: UTP AGE: 24+ MUTATION: placebo can create vivid hallucinations, primarily the visual type. so his ability to induce sensory hallucinations still falls short in comparison. he is also able to solidify his hallucinations, though these are more by chance than anything given his lack of proper control. all this can usually be done through eye contact or skin to skin contact. with the combination of both making it more effective. MUTATION ATTRIBUTES: there are no distinct physical attributes. FACTION: citizen. FACECLAIM SUGGESTIONS: jung jaewon (one), nam taehyun, park seonghwa

BACKSTORY….

unapproachable. bitter. nihilistic. losing out on his only chance to attend his dream university (and subsequently, his dream life) has left placebo angry at the world. he currently deals the mutant drug, kick, under opium, and is addicted to the substance itself as it makes his hallucinations all the more lucid.

placebo still can’t figure out what he did to deserve this. since young, he’s been the golden boy. #1 in academics and popularity, he’s always been well-loved and never abused or used his power to cheat in life. and yet, he was flat out rejected by his dream school. it was only months later that he found out that the reason behind it had been because of him being a mutant. the first ever real “failure” in his life thus led to a total personality change, as placebo feels cheated and ultimately hateful towards a society that is designed to set mutants like him up to fail. 

RELATIONS…

OPIUM — opium spends 75% of his time making sure placebo does as he’s told and doesn’t act out; warning the younger over and over again about the risks of drawing attention to them and their organization. placebo, for the most part, disregards his partner’s scoldings.

MORPH — they met at a house party and while morph had initially turned down the offer of taking kick, he still has placebo’s number in his phone and the ‘free sample’ stuffed somewhere in one of his sneakers.

HUNTER — after bumping into each other in a pro-mutant rally (which he was forced to go to), hunter had offered placebo a spot in the underground under the condition that he cleans up his act. placebo, on the other hand, could care less about the underground and their soft approach in this ‘war’.

BLINK

NAME: UTP AGE: 26+ MUTATION: blink is able to teleport through portals she creates, alone or with other people. MUTATION ATTRIBUTES: her portals give out a bright blue, pink, and purple glow, while her hair has magenta highlights. her ears are also pointed, and her eyes green, with a purple mark on the right side of her face. FACTION: mutant underground FACECLAIM SUGGESTIONS: kang seulgi, han saebyeol, kim bora (sua)

BACKSTORY….

headstrong. opinionated. witty. blink joined the underground late (in comparison to others) and yet she’s very quickly worked her way up into the role of cell leader; given the usefulness of her powers. not much is known about her background (as she makes a habit out of telling a different lie every time she’s asked) but it is obvious that she, hunter, and dreamer are involved in some kind of love triangle.

tossed aside by her birth parents, blink herself isnt aware of the long history of her family’s line; nor the fact that they’re affiliated with the brotherhood. majority of her youth is spent in a foster home for unwanted mutants with equally unsightly attributes. and she, like her ‘siblings’ spend most of their years hidden away. after a rough run-in with purists, blink opted to escape the tiny town she grew up in and bounded for seoul. there, she made a living doing odd jobs for a mutant gang, their involvement with the brotherhood unknown to her. after departing from the gang, she was caught by sentinel services, though eventually escaping with the help of the underground; one of the few mutant fugitives who have ever done so.

RELATIONS…

HUNTER — things between her and hunter has been awkward since incident with dreamer. blink avoids him still, especially with the planted memory of them together still vivid in her mind.

DREAMER — though still frosty with dreamer, blink’s long forgiven her for the misdemeanor. still, she can’t help the innate paranoia that surfaces whenever dreamer’s around, somewhat afraid of what she can do with her memories. 

STEPFORD CUCKOOS — they know something very important about her and blink doesn’t like it at all.

DEAD GIRL

NAME: UTP AGE: 26+ MUTATION: dead girl’s mutation allows her to fully utilize her undead body, she is able to retrieve severed limbs and rebuild her battered body if damaged. and can also leave her body in the form of a ghost. above average strength and dexterity are also a factor. though undead, she is still able to feel (heat, pain, etc) though all of it is severely dulled down—like through thick dual paned glass. MUTATION ATTRIBUTES: she is physically deceased, possessing no heartbeat whatsoever, the only thing keeping her body from rot and retaining ‘normal’ function is her mutation. FACTION: citizen FACECLAIM SUGGESTIONS: han sohee, kwon nara, kim yerim (lim kim)

BACKSTORY….

guarded. vengeful. mischievous. dead girl was an aspiring actress before her then boyfriend murdered and dumped her in a shallow grave, thus triggering her mutation. upon revival, the first thing she could do was extract revenge. after that? not so much. especially with the fact that everything prior to the moment of her death are forgotten memories for her. originally from seoul, she moved shortly after the fall of the seoul cell, having kept tabs on the underground there (split between joining or otherwise, but thankfully didn’t).

in terms of the day to day, dead girl lives a new life with a new identity, switching from job to job whenever anyone seems to have recognized her while trying to keep her own mutation under wraps.

RELATIONS…

LEECH — she doesn’t know much of leech. just the fact that whenever she steps into his vicinity she subsequently dies and wakes up in a morgue. which makes this awkward for them as neighbors—and far harder for her to avoid him.

KINESIS — kinesis and her are next door neighbors, though they don’t talk much. they always seem to run into each other at the worst time possible.

SIREN — by some freak accident, siren took off her arm. not that it particularly hurt. but it was an uncomfortable situation all and all when the girl started crying and apologizing profusely for it.

OPIUM

NAME: UTP AGE: 28+ MUTATION: opium has an infectious touch which causes the person who he’s in contact with to feel euphoric, almost as if they are under the influence of drugs. MUTATION ATTRIBUTES: there are no distinct physical attributes. FACTION: citizen FACECLAIM SUGGESTIONS: im jaebeom, kang younghyun (young.k), kim hanbin (b.i)

BACKSTORY….

hedonistic. immoral. dynamic. being filthy rich doesn’t stop opium from dealing the extremely addictive and lethal mutant drug, kick. much to nobody’s surprise, he’s addicted to the drug and is rather notorious for dealing it to users of all ages; excluding sentinel services, of course. though he himself doesn’t partake in mutant equality rallies or anything of the sort, he harbors strong disdain for humans.

opium was once affiliated with the same gang as eclipse, before his need for independence led to his departure. eventually, he started his own drug ring based out of busan, nurturing it into one of south korea’s leading mutant drug rings. connections with the corrupt law enforcement through his father allows him to work the way he wants to. and despite his laidback demeanor, he’s rather strict over those that work under him, making sure no unnecessary attention or trouble (such as the sentinel services) is drawn to them.

RELATIONS…

PLACEBO — one of his partners in the drug dealing ring. opium struggles to make sure placebo stays in place and doesn’t do anything brash to draw attention to them; knowing how impulsive the other can be.

ECLIPSE — a familiar face he loves to taunt and tease.

DEAD GIRL — opium and dead girl have a deal. borrowed muscle for five minutes of his time (touch) per transaction. it’s no big deal to him; neither he or placebo are offensive types and when the dead comes to collect, no one’s going to say no.

ORPHAN

NAME: UTP AGE: 25+ MUTATION: orphan’s mutation allows him to make dupes of himself and all items of his person through kinetic energy upon impact (can be done through a hit or snapping his fingers etc). he also is able to control dupes (i.e. a “hive mind”) and have them do his bidding. MUTATION ATTRIBUTES: there are no distinctive physical attributes, only a slight blur when he duplicates. FACTION: mutant underground FACECLAIM SUGGESTIONS: song kang, nam yoonsu, jang kiyong

BACKSTORY….

greedy. selfish. guarded. orphan spent a lifetime on the streets perfecting his craft and his mutation. utilizing both his looks and boyish demeanor to win over the heart of unsuspecting passerbys and their unreasonably fat wallets. take care to know, however, he’s no robin hood. and had it not been for the fact that an unfortunate run-in with a sentinels service agent (literally, two of him running into the same guy) ended his career.

currently, he is situated within the mutant underground, otherwise squatting and biding his time for his arrest warrant to blow over. make no mistake though, he is here for him and himself only.

RELATIONS…

PLACEBO — orphan owes placebo money, simple as that. so it’s likely to say he’s unlikely to show up around placebo’s go-tos anytime soon. plus, his hallucinations always trip him out. scary dude.

SCALD — much like quicksilver, orphan finds amusement in teasing scald. even provoking her once into burning a dupe of himself to give her a scare about it.

QUICKSILVER — quicksilver and orphan became fast friends in the underground. given the fact that they both hummed at the same chaotic frequency. however, despite how close they may seem to the eyes of others, their friendship is still pretty surface level. basically, the kind of friend you’d rob a mini mart with, but not the kind of friend to have a heart to heart with.

THE X-MEN ARE GONE. the brotherhood eradicated. the age of heroes ended in 1993, leaving in its wake debris and broken citizens. from its ashes, the government has rebuilt itself. welcomed mutants into their midst, passed new laws to ease them into society, dedicated hospitals and the works situated to their needs.
