Hi! Figured I might as well introduce the blog, I'm Thing, the creature hosting this blog, and I like any nonhuman or neutral pronouns like they/them, it/its, that/that's, and thing/things (plus any I missed).
The point of this blog:
Write x reader original fiction for objectum folk
Have fun!
Always stay disability friendly in ways including but not limited to: having minimal to no eyestrain images, no flashing or gif graphics, always having image descriptions, never using colored or non default fonts (and including plain text if I ever do)
Always stay inclusive in ways including but not limited to: writing relationships of all kinds like queerplatonic, gay, lesbian, polyamorous, etc. And writing for all kinds of readers like gender neutral, masculine, feminine, etc.
And obviously be a safe and fun place for objectum folks!
DNI: radqueers, queerphobes of any kind, lgbtq exclusionists (anti xenogenders, anti contradictory labels, etc) plurality exclusionists (saying any kind of good faith plurality is "wrong" or "fake"), anti nonhuman or furry, racists, sexists, pedos, zoos, and supporters.
Things to note: my energy and motivation fluctuate, there is no schedule for new posts, and this blog is prone to random bursts of activity and inactivity
Interaction etiquette: Be mindful of ratings, if something says 16+ and you're under 16, don't interact, etc. Do not sexualize my characters or make suggestive comments unless the story itself is suggestive, in which case you are free to. Never sexualize me or make suggestive comments toward me. Breaking any of these rules will result in an instant block, and in the case of unwanted suggestive comments be reported for harassment as well.
I may add a list of my characters later, but that's all for now! I hope you enjoy my blog, thanks for the visit! :D
Genuinely don't know if I'll abandon this blog entirely because of all the shit happening recently on Tumblr, I don't feel safe here what with staff banning trans people left and right, getting harassed recently. And irl things continually keep me from writing what I want to
Not sure if I'm leaving, but in the very least my story is delayed significantly for irl reasons. Thanks for your patience and understanding while I work this out
So I have possibly the most cursed premise for an objectum story OR one that's actaully really good?? Idk
Picture this. You and your objectum love. Livin' life. One day the local witch/wizard/magical meddler (or maybe a family member who obtained a mysterious scroll, idk) decides "Hey. You'd be happier if the love of your life were human like you." So bing bang boom, abra-ka-human.
But hey, turns out, you and your partner KNEW WHAT THE FUCK YOU WERE DOING AND DIDN'T NEED TO BE MEDDLED WITH. You're uncomfortable around this new human presence in your house, and they're uncomfortable with...well, basically all aspects of existing other than being in your presence.
But things are definitely awkward between you two. All your ways of showing affection to each other are out the window, so of course you set about trying to undo this curse.
During this time, your partner gets increasingly frustrated at all the ways they can no longer help you. If they were a computer they have to watch you use ANOTHER computer to research how to undo this, if they were a vehicle they have to watch you go around in ANOTHER vehicle to research/gather supplies/whatever. If they were a chair or plushie or something their way of comforting you after a hard day of work is no longer viable. (I say this not to torture them for the hell of it, but to drive home the point of YOU WERE FINE BEFORE, you didn't need the stupid human curse!!)
And uh...eventually you get it sorted and life goes back to normal with newfound appreciation for your differences, yada yada. Maybe whoever did this to you realizes they're also objectum or they just fall off a cliff depending on how vindictive you feel about them lmao.
humanoid robot x human reader || for objectum readers
Description: sfw, science fiction, fluff, gender neutral reader, hurt/comfort, queerplatonic. Content warning for alcohol and descriptions of being drunk
Word count: 1,292
You stumble through neon lit streets, bright and vibrant flashing signage making your head and eyes hurt. It's dark, already past midnight, pitch black and damp. The acrid smell of wet pavement and vehicle fumes fill your nostrils, only serving to piss you off and overwhelm you further. Every hovercar that passes by makes you want to tear the engine out for being too damn loud.
"Love? What are you doing out here?" A familiar robotic, caring voice cuts through every overstimulating noise, like something soft to soothe your ears after all the sharp, amplified noise. You look up to see your partner Liam outside of their workplace, a small but popular restaurant among the locals that often has long shifts. You knew they'd be getting home around now, but you'd intended for them to never see you like this, to get home and sober up before they got back. Time slips by you easily in a bar...
"Just..." The single word is slurred, and you struggle to think up an excuse through the fog of drunkenness. The sentence is left unfinished instead.
Before you even know it, they're at your side, an arm carefully wrapped around your waist as they support your weight. You lean against them, reluctantly letting them walk you home.
"Don't worry about it. We'll talk after we're both settled." Liam says instead when they notice your struggle. You feel both embarrassed and relieved that they don't make you talk or ask questions.
The two of you walk home in silence, Liam occasionally mumbling things like 'you comfortable?' 'Need a break?' and adjusting your walking pace or position against them accordingly. Despite the fact their body is metal that's hard and cold as ice, their presence and touch are reassuring.
Once you both make it home, they guide you to the living room couch, and your exhausted body practically collapses into the cushions. Liam checks your temperature and pulse, before retrieving a cold damp washcloth and gently washing your face with it. You wince at the sudden cold contact at first, but soon it starts to soothe you and make your thoughts a little clearer, if only slightly.
"How are you feeling? Want some water?" Liam asks, the pixelated eyes on their tv esque screen face focused intently on you.
"I'm alright." You murmur, though it's a lie. You don't want Liam to worry any more than they already do. Every day they fuss over you like this while you just make a mess of everything, and you don't want to burden them with your problems on top of it. "Water would be nice." You reluctantly add.
They brush your messy bangs out of your face, before getting a glass of water for you. Liam sits back down beside you, handing you the cup and rubbing your back.
"Do you need to talk?" They ask, the question genuine and open, free of judgement. You know Liam will listen to anything you say, but it's easier to just ignore your problems.
"No." You mumble, sipping at the water. Your mind is still very foggy, and you're not sure what you'd say anyway.
"Do you wanna watch more of that show?" They suggest, a hand tenderly running through your hair. You don't have to ask to know which one Liam is talking about. The show you obsessed over, the one you'd even been watching this morning. Of course they'd be trying to comfort you with it right now.
"Sure." You agree, watching as the tv flickers on.
For the next twenty minutes or so, the two of you sit in comfortable silence, the show more background noise than something to focus on. You try to, but your thoughts keep going back to what you're hiding. You speak up at last, having an easier time getting words out after walking off the alcohol earlier and drinking some water.
"Liam?"
"Yes dear?"
It takes you a minute to gather both your courage and your scattered thoughts, but you carry on. "One of my friends is moving far away.....just found out...I don't know if I'll get to see her anymore..." You finally tell them sadly.
It's clear they try to hide it, but a look of realization crosses Liam's face. They know you're not one to get recklessly drunk for no reason.
"Is that why you went to the bar?" Liam asks, expression still gentle as skeletal silver fingers brush through your hair and caress your face.
"Yeah." You admit reluctantly, eyes flickering up to the tv you stopped paying attention to long ago, just so you wouldn't have to meet their eyes.
"You don't have to drink your problems away, you can tell me about anything." They assure you, cold fingers gently tilting your chin so you look up at them. "I'd rather you do that."
You sigh, feeling embarrassed, but agree. "Alright, I'll try."
"We'll figure out some ways you can keep in touch with her tomorrow with fresh eyes. Does that sound okay?"
You give a soft nod, but regret it when you feel slightly dizzy from the action.
"Do you think you can you lay down? We should get some sleep." Their hand moves to squeeze your shoulder in a comforting way, their expression compassionate and concerned.
"Yeah."
Not long later, you and Liam are cuddling together in bed, their power bank plugged into the wall, a chord connecting their back to the outlet, and their body carefully curled up around yours. The faint whir of their systems is a soothing backdrop to the sounds of the evening city outside. Just like usual, they wrapped you up in the blankets like a burrito to keep you warm and separate their plating from your skin so it doesn't make you cold. Liam has their arms around your waist from behind, and their hands gently rub your stomach.
For a while, the two of you do nothing, just laying there and simply enjoying eachother's company. Despite the haze of a hangover still clouding your mind, taking a shower earlier and attentive care from your partner had made it just a bit better.
"Sorry I didn't tell you." You say at last, your voice small and guilty. The slow movements of their hands stop.
"You don't need to apologize for that. I just want you to take care of yourself, that's all." Their own voice is quieter than usual, glitching slightly from tiredness, like how a human voice might get raspy from sleep.
"I just feel bad. You take care of me all the time, and then I go dump all my feelings on you too. Don't you get tired or irritated or bored?"
"What?" Liam asks, shifting their grip to pull you closer against them. "Of course not. I like taking care of you, it's how I show I care. There's no uneven load, you do the same too. You brought me my backup battery the other day at work when I forgot to recharge the night before, even though you'd get in trouble for leaving during your shift. When I cried over that silly movie you comforted me. You help me out too."
"And I would never, ever think you're a burden, okay? When I said I like taking care of you, I meant it." They pressed their screen to your temple softly in a kiss.
"I love you." You mumble affectionately, your heart full and a smile on your face, along with a slight blush.
"I love you too, sweetheart."
