how do you create clipping masks? it's a science i can never figure out. like i want to create something using clipping masks but don't want to independent on other peoples clipping masks templates.

it’s fairly easy, anon !

so say you want to clipping mask a photo onto a particular thing; let’s say you want it on a rectangle / square. go to the shape tool that may be, as default, as a rectangle tool. if not, hold onto it and it should give you options to change to ellipses, rounded rectangles, etc.

make your shape by dragging on the canvas. or you can click once on the canvas and a dialogue box pops up for you to decide the height & width of the shape. feel free to move this shape around wherever you want it to go.now you should have something like this.

copy and paste your image onto this canvas, resize it as necessary, but make sure it’s large enough that it can cover whatever shape you’ve made. you can also do whatever image sharpening / editing required.

so right now? it just covers the entire thing. now you can use the clipping mask technique that i just taught in the last ask.

but oh look, it’s not really positioned well, is it? you can adjust that! just move your image around until it fits the shape you’ve made properly.

now if you repeat the same steps as earlier, you can do this multiple times. 

applies for different shapes ofc.

I'm new to photoshop so how do I customize the images on the templates? Whenever I try to add my image it either overlaps everything or it doesn't show ://

oh jeez, I’M SO SORRY for the late reply. i intended to get to this sooner, but i’ve just been preoccupied with work & my own rp. but basically you need to use a CLIPPING MASK !! 

basically right now, it would look something like this to you without the use of a clipping mask 

with your layers window open, click the image that’s supposed to go onto a certain spot ( like the rectangle / circle shapes i usually have as bases ) and ensure that your stock image or whatever it is is ABOVE the square / rectangle / circle etc.

now, if you use windows, you can hit alt between the layer and that source layer and the cursor should change into an arrow pointing down with a square next to it. if not that, you can right click the image you want to mask onto the spot and hit ‘create clipping mask’

now the layers should look like this … ( it’s indented in with an arrow pointing down to the source image you want to mask onto )

and it should no longer cover the entire thing !

feel free to ask again if you’re still confused, but hopefully this helps !

Hey, I'm making a promo with one of your templates, and I wanted to a) say thank you for the stuff you provide to the rpc, and b) ask if it's okay to use other blogs colouring PSDs with your templates (I wanted to ask and make sure before I post anything)

first off, you’re very welcome. second, you can absolutely use other colouring psds on the template. you can do pretty much anything with the templates except call them your own and redistribute for profit, assuming the same would apply for other blog’s colouring psds.
