#390.5 - Full of vigor and always in high spirits, Chimchar live together in communities along the rocky ledges of tall mountains. They are very agile Pokemon and are able to scale the sheer cliffs with ease. Their fiery “tail” is fueled by gas made in their belly. Even rain can’t extinguish the fire, though they consciously extinguish the flame before falling asleep to prevent forest fires. As Chimchar age into Scorchimp and later Monferno, they learn to manipulate the flame on their tail to make themselves appear larger and more threatening. As their blue facial marking begins to grow in, Scorchimp will compete with others of a similar age, jockeying to lead the others. It is said that those with the brightest marking will become the strongest of their troop.

#391.5 - Monferno are skilled fighters, utilizing both their flaming tails as well as fiery kicks and punches. Their unrivaled speed and agility lends itself to a unique martial arts that involves all of its limbs; the movement is comparable to dancing. As Monferno mature into Primaze, the fire on their tail will naturally dwindle, while a crown of fire will alight on their heads; once that fire has sparked, it will never go out. When they are full-grown Infernape, these nimble Pokémon will have the power and stamina to take on any opponent. More experienced Infernape will take on apprentices to teach their unique form of fiery martial arts.
