Semester just started for me, so my hands are pretty much tied until December. Dunno when I’ll be able to post, but if you for sure want to keep up with my other stuff follow my art blog @crankycorvid ! Kinda wanna go into some stuff, cuz it’s 3am and i’m wondering how in the heck I managed to have this wonderful hot mess of a blog alongside stories where I spend months sculpting characters and plot.

tdlr, let out your inner child™, draw all the rainbow and demon/angel ocs you want, have fun dammit
I started out drawin’ like your average middle/highschool artist. No edgy-wolf phase, nah, more like edgy dragon phase. You know how it goes. Self-inserts, tragic backstories, everyone gets a love interest, that kind of thing.
I eventually grew out of that and came to expand what my characters could be, but back then I was just a highschool sophomore rping with my friends on google docs. The characters were cringy as hell but it’s still my fondest memory of high school.
Cut to now. Senior in college, probably won’t be long till I find myself flung into the industry designing characters and writing scripts and who knows what. Obviously in this span of time I’ve come to improve my characters and still having a good time.
But you know what? I realized something. I just wanted to do somethin’ unorthodox. Not everything I drew had to be super developed and super thought out. What if I just, threw paint at a canvas and let loose? Let go of all heed and just, go nuts? That’s kinda what this blog is. Is a grovyle with a gun accidentally taking out the dialga from the pmd time/darkness plot, usurping his throne, and raising the next incarnation to “make up for it” a legit and interesting thing? Not exactly. It’s overpowered as all hell and it just sorta happened. But it’s fun! Let. LET ME UNLEASH THE MOST INSANE CHARACTER AND LET THEM WREAK HAVOK. Why? Because. Its fun. Case closed.
Cuz ya know what? Sometimes? We just gotta let out our inner child.
I mean, there’s a reason why they say kids are more creative than adults. There isn’t all of that experience that tells ya “this isn’t well received and this usually makes a character less interesting”. It’s just pure unbridled “HEY LOOK AT MY DRAGON WITH 50 EYES THAT SHOOTS LAZERS!” like
dude I know monster artists that revel in that sort of thing like i love that give it to me. give. they’re mine now they’re my children we’re not arguing over this they’re mine and i love them and i’m happy you have this character you love so deeply.
I know some of you are like me where you’re in your 20-30s getting into professional stuff and some of you are younger artists just starting out.
Take it from me:
Draw your rainbow cats. Draw your self-inserts. Draw your demon wolves. Go play, have fun. You’ll learn more about design and story and mature as artists, but for now, just, enjoy yourselves. Don’t try to grow up so fast and enjoy unbridled childhood. But also when you’re older don’t forget to let yourself be a child again every once in a while.
I’m not saying not to be critical. Believe me, I can and will be highly critical of my and other people’s work. But you gotta let yourself go every once in a while yea?
Now if you excuse me I’m gonna go draw a dragon with 50 eyes that shoots lazers
A quiet meditative being with a mysterious childhood. His mother was... questionable. While she could be considered villainous due to her chaotic nature, she certainly cared for her son deeply.
This conflicted past reflects in his nature. He is more of an observer, and does not like to meddle with or pick a side when it comes to the affairs of mortals. But perhaps he will be less likely to go primal like his previous incarnation.
I have absolutely no idea why my mother has 120 eggs in her fridge or why anyone would need so many but it's so absurdly funny Can I have a grovyle being swamped by eggs
its okay my mom just bought roughly 80 eggs yesterday cuz they were on sale and now we’re drowning in quiche
Typically a true neutral, keeping to themselves and observing the world around them. To incurr their wrath is a feat of it’s own, as they’d much rather watch nature unfold passively. To them, seeking knowledge and understanding of the universe is the greatest use of one’s time.
