Makeup for Magick/Ritual p2: Ostara - The Spring Equinox (Pt 1 of 2)
Well, better late than never, right? Right! Spring is here, the Sun finally showed up, and allergies are coming in hot! Yay... Time to talk about eyeshadow (from my personal collection) that can be used to celebrate the sabbat. Ya know, next year. *coughcough*

Again, my camera is my hot water trash iPhone 3S, and it's literally falling apart, so apologies for the potato pics. These pictures just don't do the shades justice. Definitely look up better pictures of them.
Pastels, pinks, purples, floral tones, neutral to warm nudes, all the pale to bright greens and all the pale to bright yellows... Basically, anything you'd see on easter cards/decorations/etc for those more familiar with that.
Okay, lets get my one shots out of the way first, shall we?
PUR Visionary Palette: Definitely more rich than what you see in the picture. It's more dreamy floral, but if you want to look like a "flower fairy" this is your girl. The shades can be a teeny bit tricky to use, but it's pretty. It'll probably pop up in my Beltane post as well.
Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette: More of a companion palette, really. There's only one matte shade in this palette, and it's a light pinky-nude shade. For the most part, the shimmer are all good shades for the season.
Violet Voss Flamingo Palette: Technically this is a summer palette, but the a good number of the shades nail it for Ostara. Is it my favorite formula? Nu... But it's decent.
Wet n Wild Petal Pusher Palette: This is a recently opened backup, just so we're clear XD! If you still have this in your collection, and it's not expired, maybe it's time to pull it out. All the shades except the right bottom two are nice for a spring purple look.
Makeup Revolution The Emily Edit: The Wants Palette: The colors in this palette are veeeery Spring garden-esque. The shades were intentionally created to be buildable, as that's Emily Noel's style. If you're new to color, this may be good for you.
Life's a Festival Palette: People gave this palette crap because the packaging was squishy and "childish", but the shadows are actually unique for a mainstream brand! Half of the shadows in the palette are beautiful duochromes (Euphoric, Fun in the Sun, Beamin', Fireflies, Mystic Rain, Artist Rain, Unicorn Tears), all of which are Ostara colors.
Clover Palette: This palette has Ostara "moments". The first row and the top two shades on the second row are basically colorful Ostara shades for people who are scared of color. Not bold, but a pretty muted flower look. The pink in the fourth row could be added too. That yellow, however, has silver glitter chunks in it and it can burn.
Lets dive into Miss Anastasia Beverly Hills and Norvina.
Modern Renaissance Palette: You got your reddish-pinks, light pinks and lavenders, and Red Ochre reminds me of the new buds on the trees.
Norvina Palette: Do I wish it had a deeper matte purple? Yis. But the shimmers are very springy and you could do a pretty neutral with a pink or purple pop if you don't want to go full color.
Soft Glam Palette: Warm toned neutrals! I'd say the whole palette but Noir is fair game.
Pro Pigment Palette Vol. I: The pinks and purples on the top two rows are beautiful for Ostara, and so are the first two in each of the lower rows. The shades are a lot brighter than they appear, and C2 and D1 are great.
Mini Pro Pigment Palette Vol. I: All the shades are nice for Ostara. There are only two shimmer shades, but the middle one has a pink shift that's really pretty.
Mini Pro Pigment Palette Vol. II: The pale yellow and greens in this palette are perfect Ostara shades. They'd pair well with one of the other Norvina palettes on the list.
My Little Pony Palette: Ignoring the two dark shades, this has some nice pastel shades for the Spring Equinox.
Yes, Please! Palette: Literally here for the two yellows. And that's about it.
Left to Right, Top to Bottom: It's My Pleasure Palette, Oh La La Palette, Just My Luck Palette, Blue Moon Palette, Uh-Huh Honey Palette, Strawberry Shake Palette, Going Coconuts Palette, Mint to Be Palette, Lilac You A Lot Palette
Getting the nude out of the way, Going Coconuts is a good neutral nude to break out, maybe do a color where the inner color highlight might be.
If you want to bring in the Solar energy now that the days are growing longer than the nights, break out Uh-Huh Honey and dip into the brighter yellows. Also, screw that pressed glitter.
In Mint to Be, now the time to dip into the brighter "Spring" mint shades. So the entire left column, the top two in the middle column, and that top, kinda topper shade, in the right column. This paired with the Just My Luck greens (except the olive green and brown shades in the last column) makes a great spring green "new growth" look.
The flowery pinks and peaches in Strawberry Milkshake and light purples in Lilac You A Lot are beautiful "spring garden" shades. Oh La La can give you those deeper, brighter pinks if you want to deepen up your pink look, while It's My Pleasure brings the deeper purples. Blue Moon's here solely for the lighter shades Lumi, Moonlite, and Starry Eyed, not gonna lie.
Top: Mimosa Palette, Avocado Toast Palette; Bottom: Hangin' in Hawaii Palette, Trendy in Tokyo Palette, Lost in Los Angeles Palette
Hangin' in Hawaii is a good Spring/Summer nude palette with a pop of pink. It's more of a "light and airy" warm-toned palette than, say, ABH Soft Glam. The shades are pigmented, but they aren't super rich and deep. If I *had* to do a nude look for Ostara, I'd sooner choose this palette over ABH purely for that reason.
Trendy in Tokyo and Lost in Los Angeles are definitely a "should be used together" situation. Lost in LA's shadows are pigmented as hell, but there really isn't much in the way of depth. Alternatively, in the Tokyo palette, everything is pretty much mid-tone. There's not much for contrast. These two complement each other perfectly for a colorful equinox look.
If bright pinks with a pop of yellow is what you're looking for to celebrate Ostara, this is your girl. Avocado Toast exists on this list purely for the pops. Guac, Ripe, and Avo Toast for matte greens, Over easy for a pop of yellow, Pink Salt for a pop of pink, and the three lighter metallics in the first column are all good pale green/yellow/pink shades for the equinox.

Top: The Warrior III Palette, The Zulu Palette; Bottom: The Tribe Palette, The Douce Palette
The Tribe Palette is here just for those two greens at the top of the palette, and the hidden duochrome shade Koro (a spring green shift).
The Douce Palette has some beautiful pastels, and that white shade at the top has a beautiful bright pink shift. Dunno why they discontinued is, because it's really cute.
The Warrior III and The Zulu are both beautiful colorful palettes for spring, and the pinky shades could make great blushes for Ostara too.
