both trans men and trans women are punished for our proximity to both feminity and masculinity. people decide when we are men or women based on what is the WORST option at the moment. we both get treated like women only when someone needs to infantalize us or call us bossy, bitchy, stupid, vapid. we both get treated like men when someone wants to demonize and paint us as violent, predatory, abusive, perverted. NONE of us are benefiting from any gendered privilege, because we are always treated like the worst of either gender depending on the scenario. this is something all trans people experience, regardless of agab, both trans men and trans women. so why do we assume that the other side has the opposite experience as us?? why do you think that because your life as a trans man or a trans woman is painful, that a trans person of a different gender must have the opposite experience?? like i just dont get the preschool level understanding of gender like "well boys and girls are opposites so of course our experiences are opposites too" we are living the same transphobia and if you cant see it you need to listen to other people more
Can you say something about fat people that doesn’t involve the phrase “tummy squish” or any variants thereof. Quickly
I know a couple fat guys and they're good electricians
its 2026 i cannot handle any more fucking "author A obviously ripped off author B" discourse by people Who Have Only Seen the work of author B and admit themselves that they have no further knowledge of the literary landscape they are moving in. like.
I am greatly entertained by the President Pro Tempore of Virginia’s state Senate, an elderly woman who constantly talks about her goal of countering GOP gerrymandering by rigging Virginia’s districts 10-1 in favor of the Democratic Party. She’s a rare breed for Democrats: completely ruthless, totally apathetic to criticism, only here to win. Here she is calling Sen. Tim Kaine a cuck for disagreeing
ms. lucas i'm sorry i assumed that "calling sen. tim kaine a cuck" was hyperbole i wasn't familiar with your game
I just got. The single funniest dm I've ever received in my entire life
Characters in media fighting back against the mind control:
You are not a People Pleaser your lack of boundaries are not a virtue and one day you are going to boil over and lash out at your loved ones who had no idea they were hurting you because you never told them
Your lack of boundaries are not a virtue 🗣🗣🗣
The person in my notes telling me to "have compassion for traumatized people" is exhibiting the exact behavior I'm talking about re: (not) taking responsibility for your own communication so I think this type of person Does need to hear Hard Truths, actually. Something being a trauma response doesn't exempt it from harming your relationships & the people in them. Enabling it won't help anything cause ultimately you still have to do the work on yourself and use your fucking words
Ok? Ok. Now everyone else in my notes saying some variation on "yeah this is me I'm working on it" I'm giving you a sticker
Hawaiʻi is currently in the midst of a natural disaster if you didnt know
Apparently there isn’t much news coverage of this outside of the islands
Towns are flooded, homes destroyed and collapsed, roads collapsed, lives at risk, gas leaks from the flood damage
Haleiwa and Waialua are currently evacuated because the 120 year old dam is at risk of bursting
Mind you that damn is owned by Dole. Theyve known about it needing to be fixed for years and years and years. Despite having more than enough money they refuse
The state has been trying to buy it out from them for years so they can fix it, but the sale hasn’t gone through
Keep in mind that the Dole family were the ones who illegally imprisoned Queen Liliuʻokalani and illegally overthrew the monarchy.
If I see another goddamn person say how sad this is for the tourists whose “trips were ruined” and compare a messed up vacation to people losing their homes, belongings, and livelihoods, I’m going to lose my mind
I am so lucky that my family or friend’s are safe and the few whose houses flooded didnt have it too bad, but so so so many were not as fortunate
If you haven’t heard anything about this until now, I suggest looking into it
The sirens didn’t go off until the flood had been going on for hours. Our state government is spending so much money on a fucking monorail we don’t need rather than fixing the infrastructure.
It’s been the locals and Kanaka doing the most to help get people to safety from the start
I don’t really know how to end this
I just need to know people are aware
I need to know people are seeing whats happening
"Don't take this storm lightly," Hawaii Governor Josh Green warned on Saturday, as more rain is expected on Oahu and Maui.
People arrested while protesting ICE say federal agents took samples of their DNA. It's legal, but experts say the practice raises questions
NPR found five other people in Illinois, Oregon and Minnesota who described similar occurrences in recent months. In statements made under oath as part of lawsuits against the Trump administration's handling of immigration enforcement, they said they were arrested, seemingly without provocation, while protesting ICE and then had officers take or try to take what appeared to be a sample of their DNA. "Are six cases enough to be concerned as a pattern? I think yes, because history tells us that what law enforcement is permitted to do, they tend to do more of," says Erin Murphy, a law professor at New York University.
The weird intersection between fatphobia, sexual puritanism and fake progressiveness that breeds the idea that a skinny person attracted to fat people is a "chubby chaser" or a "fat fetishist" and not just like. Someone who has the hots for fat people. The idea that only another fat person could be attracted to fat people, otherwise it's sinister. Secretly you think any skinny person who'd want to fuck a fat person is debasing and devaluing ourselves, but you've pivoted into pretending you worry about a fat person's dignity.
That's not to say there aren't people who jerk off to their own warped stereotypes about fat people in a disgustingly dehumanising way but if you truly think someone getting a boner over a big belly or a double chin is taking away a fat person's humanity you're actually the one with a warped idea about fat people and about sex in general. There's nothing wrong with a person's fatness being sexually desirable to people.
So many people hold the attitude that it's okay to be attracted to fat people but only incidentally, as soon as your attracted to someone because they're fat you're a Big Evil Fetishist. The same people calling themselves perverts and freaks on this website can't handle the idea that fat people might be hot because they are fat and there's nothing inherently dehumanising about wanting to fuck a fat person.
Thank you for this, not derailing at all it's very important!!!!
im like a year late but finally watched it saw the TV glow
✨ Black Creators Who Changed Genre Storytelling ✨
Shoutout to @blackgirlnerds for this powerful spotlight on the Black visionaries who transformed sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and speculative fiction.
When we talk about architects of the genre, two names stand tall: Octavia E. Butler and N.K. Jemisin.
🖤 Octavia E. Butler didn’t just participate in science fiction; she expanded its moral and political imagination. Kindred forced time travel to confront slavery directly. The Parable novels tackled power, faith, and survival in ways that still feel prophetic. She proved speculative fiction can interrogate the present just as fiercely as it imagines the future.
🌍 N.K. Jemisin rebuilt epic fantasy on her own terms. With the Hugo Award–winning Broken Earth trilogy, she fused sweeping world-building with environmental collapse, systemic injustice, and inherited trauma. She disrupted the Eurocentric defaults of high fantasy and made it clear: Black imagination belongs at the center of the epic.
These aren’t just great writers. They’re blueprint-makers.
Start (or revisit) here: 📖 Kindred — Octavia E. Butler 📖 Parable of the Sower — Octavia E. Butler 📖 The Fifth Season — N.K. Jemisin
Honor the legacy. Support Black genre media like Black Girl Nerds. Keep building futures that center us.
if a black woman did the same thing sabrina carpenter does she would not get a fraction of fame or be actively bashed as a nastttty slut for doing it and i know this is true bc whenver we talk about white pop girls vs black pop girls the black ones r always talked about as more vulgar and perverse meanwhile their peers like ariana grande r making songs about getting fucked so hard she can’t walk but bc shes white she still gets to be called dainty and delicate and a uwu soft girlie
YUP
the point of this post is that only one of these women is punished for the same behavior specifically due to race, only one group of women is seen as overtly sexual and deviant despite doing the exact same pop culture music that the white girls are doing, idk how ur missing the point here its very very on the nose
one of the most important tweets ever twote
Sesame Street posting techniques for comforting children during traumatic world events feels so fucking dystopian but here are the slides they posted just in case you or a loved one has any little critters at home right now
No one is doing well right now, but being a little critter right now has got to be terrifying. This is such a crushing series of images, especially considering PBS’s funding got slashed. While I’m happy Sesame Street continues to keep the wellbeing and education of children as a major priority, there’s a certain amount of innocence that Sesame Street represents and this is giving me such a visceral feeling rn
sesame street has been meeting kids where they were at since the 70s, and in the 70s, POC kids were in some pretty scary places. what contemporary white parents might perceive as a sudden dystopian horror is, sadly, the level of trauma, violence, insecurity, and fear that a lot of non-white families have had to navigate for generations. it has always been hard and heartbreaking for some families to try to protect their kids from knowing how dangerous the world is and how much some parts of it want them dead. now it's white parents time to join in that important work. i don't meant to scold, but i want to remind: generations of kids have taken much-needed messages of comfort and solace from sesame street, and the people there have always known, since the start, how much we need bravery and compassion. it's not about innocence and it's not about ignorance: it's about love. this is their entire mission, and they're staying strong. we can too.
just truly bonkers how much i love lying down……….like being horizontal? unparalleled
Hate it when TikTok farm cosplayers and cottagecore types say stuff like "I'm not going to use modern equipment because my grandmothers could make do without it." Ma'am, your great grandma had eleven children. She would have killed for a slow cooker and a stick blender.
I’ve noticed a sort of implicit belief that people used to do things the hard way in the past because they were tougher or something. In reality, labor-saving devices have historically been adopted by the populace as soon as they were economically feasible. No one stood in front of a smoky fire or a boiling pot of lye soap for hours because they were virtuous, they did it because it was the only way to survive.
