It’s been a little bit since I’ve given a proper update on my Baldur’s Gate 3 Curse of Strahd mod, so… I come with updates!

Dinner With Strahd: A Curse of Strahd Story Mod for BG3 - Updates!

I've been trying to stick as close to the 5e module as I can in regards to rooms and events, even the stupid events like the flying mannequin 🙃 Almost all of the canonical NPCs and about 90% of Castle Ravenloft will be present when it’s done. My game plan is to break the mod down into three big updates:

Update 1: Published! The ground floor of Ravenloft and 90% of the story.

Update 2: This will be the upper floors of Ravenloft. Three new mini quests, 6 fully voiced NPCs (along with oodles of animals you can talk to), and the most new rooms of the updates. I'm about 75% done with this one and am hoping to publish it early July. The 5e layout of Castle Ravenloft is STUPID and I HATE IT but I MADE IT WORK.

Update 3: The lower floors of Ravenloft, 4 NPCs, and a second, harder boss battle that I'm pretty jazzed about. This one hopefully shouldn't take me as long because there's fewer characters I need to animate.

In other exciting news, I’ve gotten the custom head model for Strahd that the very talented @wrenanigans made imported, and that’ll be incorporated in update 2!

silly modding story time:

So I’m working on my Curse of Strahd BG3 mod. For some reason, I can’t get cinematics to work in the toolkit when they involve only inanimate objects. The workaround I found is to create a tiny, invulnerable, invisible goblin that’s scripted to run up and talk to you when you click on the object to initiate the dialogue

This is a project that I’ve been working on for a year now, with more updates to come. It's a mini-campaign and heavily story-based add-on for BG3 based on the Curse of Strahd 5e Dungeons & Dragons module.

Hi, I just found out about your CoS mod for BG3! I'm not a good gamer and have barely made it out of the tiefling quest... My question is: Can I play your mod even if I haven't reached act 3 yet? Or must I make it to act 3 to play it? I've never played any mods so I'm a complete noob, sorry if the question is dumb!

Hi there! Good question! :D

I'd originally thought about including a teleportation ring that you can access from the very beginning, but I think for parties to stand a fighting chance with the last boss fight, they should be at least level 8.

So I had a few other ideas to tackle it instead! The first one was that, as an optional file, I was going to include one of my personal Act 3 saves that opens up right where the quest begins. That way, you can re-customize my character, just play as my lad, or play as a companion. The other idea is I know that there are a few mods in the in-game mod manager that unlock all of the teleport points. The mod starts right at the first teleport point in Act 3. So if you downloaded that mod, made a backup save, and then warped to THAT point, you would be able to play it with your current character! (And I'll include info on that stuff in the description when I publish it!)

Since January, I've been working on a Curse of Strahd mod for Baldur's Gate 3. I know some folks here had been interested in its progress after my voice actor recruitment post, so I figured I'd make a thread to post updates and snippets of my works in progress! and motivate myself! *+*+*+*

What is it? This is a Curse of Strahd mod for Baldur's Gate 3. It's a one-woman project, and I've been working on this bad boy for like 8 months now. It will consist of 4 parts, and is separate from Project Strahd that other folks have been hard at work on.

What is it about? The mod will take place at the beginning of Act 3. Players will receive a dinner invitation from Count Strahd von Zarovich and travel to Barovia. Rumors of their unique mindflayer tadpoles have reached his domain, and he's eager to learn more…

What will it include?

Over 400 fully voiced and animated lines of dialogue

A unique Castle Ravenloft map

Custom music (The music is done, I just need the software to cooperate with me…)

Custom combats and stat blocks

Loot!
