Update #2: Hamilton/What Shall We Do Now?

AUGH! I don't know what to do for my next drawing...

I recently finished Hamilton. It was really good! The lyrics were very clever and the songs hit so much. The acting was incredibly moving. I really liked Aaron Burr's character development, and exploring and unveiling the mind of Alexander was such a treat! My one thing is that some of the characters' arcs were a bit rushed or incomplete. I didn't feel sad for Hamilton when Phillip died because the play didn't really dedicate that much time to Phillip died. Also Eliza forgave Hamilton way too quickly imo...

But anyways, I like Hamilton. I like Black Souls. I want to draw a crossover fanart...but there's also other ideas that beg even harder to be drawn at times. Oh, what to do...

My current idea is dressing up Mabel like Thomas Jefferson. I love TJ's character and I love Daveed Diggs for his stellar, funny, and charming performance. I think Mabel singing "What'd I Miss would kinda match that aura. I don't know why, it just does for me.

I also wanna draw Grimm interacting with Nicole and Jecka from Class of 09, but that might be later...

I should do some more LonaRPG art too...

Rance 01: My Honest Thoughts

Before I continue, I would like to preface that this is my first direct experience with the rance series. I am aware this adaptation cuts a lot of content out from the story to fit the runtime and probably not always true of how the game portrays the events of The Quest For Hikari.

To keep things brief, this was alright. it was entertaining for the shlock factor, but was not an actually compelling story. a lot of the characters were not very developed (which, again, might not have been an issue in the game due to the longer runtime). I liked Menad because of her personality Yulang because she was awesome. Hikari herself was barely a character (she didn't even have any lines!). Sill needs hugs and kisses and was very entertaining to watch. Everyone else was merely a mix of meh for me, and even the ones I did speak positively of still weren't very compelling.

The sex scenes did nothing for me; I don't think they ever really advanced the plot in any meaningful way to justify how long all of them were. I genuinely skipped the latter two scenes with sill because they were such pace-breakers.

Rance himself was a mixed bag for me. Sometimes he was funny, and I enjoyed how irreverent he could be. I found how he constantly pushed the hapless sill around to be really endearing, akin to a disney villain abusing their henchmen. At the same time, I couldn't help but get annoyed at his hypocisy: how he could rape girls and then call lia a monster when she and her cronies did the same. I spent the entire scene with him and lavender shaking my my head; I know maybe the torture Lia and Maris inflicted on these people was too much even for him - which could explain his disdain - but it was still offputting. Also how the fuck did Pulptenks mistake Rance for the bandit leader? Their voices are so different.

The pacing of the show was also iffy at times. Some of the events (such as the entire thing with the Coliseum) felt rushed.

I probably have more thoughts, but if they come to me, I'll leave them in the comments.

6/10. I should probably play the games.

Update #3: New (Tip) Media!

HIHI~!

I'm overjoyed to say that my media intake has sparked, and I have recently gotten access to things that have been on my radar for awhile now!

I'm caught up with The Amazing Digital Circus. It has quickly become one of my favorite shows ever; it has moved me much more intensely than any other work I have experienced recently. Episodes 3 and 6 are my favorites so far! 9/10.

I have begun watching Kill la Kill too! The animation is really stylish, and the characters are really interesting to me. This one in particular has been a long time coming, and though I've spoiled myself on what happens in the plot, I'm nonetheless still really enjoying it!

And finally, I have truly becgun my Touhou journey! I downloaded Mountain of Faith today. It's been kicking my ass, but I've been steadily learning the controls. I've gotten to Stage 3 as of writing. I wanted to play the games to learn more about the characters, but alas, the version I downloaded was untranslated. Oh well...

But anyways, the gameplay is fun and I'm really hoping I don't wear down the keys from how much the game forces me to hold some of them down...

On the art side of things, I've ultimately decided that I will now no longer commit to using either JSPaint or traditional drawings; I will use them both interchangeably for future pieces. I ultimately made this decision because JSpaint really slows my clunky tablet, and I don't want to stare at a screen as much during the day.

Anyways, expect to see art from series I described above in the near future!
