INTRO POST

Hello! Kit here. This is a page solely dedicated to gathering anything and everything Ludwig von Koopa related. My plan is to make this sideblog a resource that's open for anyone interested.

Rules for submissions/requests:

this page is intended to gather official/licensed content only. For headcanons and fan things I'd appreciate if you can reach me on my main blog @von-koopas-muse

I'm only fluent in Polish and English, so I may reject submissions that I can't fact check. I'm firmly against using AI for translations, so if I can't find a friend who can confirm it for me or the submission doesn't look obvious enough it could happen.

Retcons, beta designs, etc. are included! I think they're a big part of the super mario history, so to me they're important in shaping up the whole context.

I think I really should get myself together and put up an MK Tour entry as it's going to close down soon. I completely missed the Dr Mario game so I don't want to skip another title.

Favorite part: voice clips for sure! Also it gave Ludwig's model more polish and I can appreciate that. He dabs, people!

Hello! It's my first post here that isn't an old reblog, because I admit I got spooked. I'm still getting used to sharing my finds online so it may take a while before I'm fully active. Thank you for your patience!

Let's start with the most noticeable thing about the karting games. And it's his voice!

Here's the voice clip. See anything interesting? Yep! This Ludwig is voiced by Goldfaarb, and has this lively, almost cheerful quality to his voice. Especially compared to NSMB Wii, and frankly it makes him look almost goofy which I don't mind. Very fitting for a light karting game!

Also I cannot say this enough, check the manuals! there's always something interesting with them!

Another composing pun! One of many! From what I've heard the music puns are not nearly as present in Japanese, however the localizers are taking the opportunity and running with it. Love that for them.

And I think this entry is also one of first to mention his role as an anti-hero, which I find as a key to his character. He walks to the beat of his own drum, often to the detriment of other koopalings.. And that's what makes him so intriguing! You never quite know what's going on in his head.

Overall, although I don't think this is a super important entry, it's still really special to me. Both because it's his debut to Mario Kart, debut to Goldfaarb as his main VA, and gives a bigger glimpse to his current personality before the RPG series were even around.

Also, also, I know of the Ludwig painting emblems. I want to keep something to blab about when I'll get to Tour because they have sticker versions of them, lol

Koopaling Trivia: Super Mario World: Mario to Yoshi no Bōken Land

original name: マリオとヨッシーの冒険ランド

year: 1991

This is one of those fun, early 90s interactive cartoons, something of a crossroad in between a video game and a cartoon.

How it worked is that you had a toy called Terebbiko, a toy phone with four buttons, and the characters would "call" you and ask to help using the buttons.

Unfortunately, as it is with most early stuff i can find, they do not have much of a personality beyond being Bowser's minions. But! One surprising thing is that Wendy is able to duplicate herself, into four too!

I know it is a reference to her SMW appearance, however to me these have always been dolls, and the anime counterpart is much more accurate, with three copies instead of two. Imagine if she had this ability instead of Ludwig later on..

but, similar to Amada series, the main appeal for me is in their early looks.

It feels less doll-like, and I really like it! They've captured their villainy much better than the first 'anime' i could find with them. Also, listen to Roy's voice, it's hilarious.

Wendy duplicating herself is an abillity she still has, Ludwig is just the one to do it in mainline.

In the original they were goombas in disguise (think fake Bowser in SMB) but the remake made them clones. Wendy also has that ability in Bowser Jr's journey

In Paper Mario: Color Splash, Ludwig has an unused attack in his files called the “Ludwig Bullet Kill Attack” internally, which would have instantly killed Mario. Ludwig is remarkable for being the only enemy in the game to use the word “kill” for an attack description.

I just got some new volumes of Super Mario-Kun.. Ludwig’s so goofy in this, I love him :] (I took a buncha pictures from the manga, enjoy!!!) I’ll probably post other pictures of the Koopalings from the manga soon too!! So, stay tuned!!

In Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition, every character has either one or two types, which consists of Wood, Fire, Water, Light and Dark. Out of these, "Dark" is the designated evil type, with characters like Bowser being Dark, and Dark skills having names like "Curse", "Grudge" etc.

Curiously, Lemmy is the only one of the Koopalings who is Dark-type, with the rest represented by other types. In addition, while the other Koopaling skills are named after elemental attacks ("Morton's Flame", "Wendy's Splash" etc.), Lemmy's skill is alarmingly named "Lemmy's Nightmare".

This may suggest that Lemmy somehow is more evil, or has the darkest personality of all the Koopalings.
