Giles was not naturally soft, but he could be kind, especially with those who had done nothing, had offered no threat or committed no true crime that he knew of. His gaze, usually afire, gentled, his tone quiet. “Usually those things are mutually exclusive. Myself, I spent so much of my early life being proper, and it brought me nothing. I find being myself easier.”

“Usually, yes. But they don’t have to be. Not if you’re careful. You can speak your mind and still speak properly.” She ran a hand through her hair, letting her curls tumble down her back while she watched the water. “I’m happy that you’ve learned to be yourself. It’s a good thing to learn.”

“Thanks!” Marie grinned, “Um, did I catch your name? I’m Marie.”

Moana could see she had other questions but he was glad she stopped asking. He wasn’t one to handle questions he did not know the definite answer too. He stayed quiet until they arrived at Lady’s and Jorgen’s combined camps. “You should head to Lady’s treehouse. She will have what you need to help with your sunburn.”

Odette nodded while standing on her tip toes to place on a kiss on his cheek. “Thanks. For walking with me, but more for not lying to me. I can handle a lot more than people seem to think that I can. So, thanks.”

Stolen Passage // *Flashback 8 years* // Jorgen and Odette

Odette Maricopa had always imagined that she knew herself. However as she stared back at her reflection in the mirror in front of her, she felt as though she were meeting a stranger. Her long black curls were hidden beneath a pirate’s hat. Her usual elegant dresses were exchanged for a pair of pants and the most unflattering shirt she’s ever worn in her life. Looking herself over she couldn’t help but be slightly proud of the way that she looked. She wouldn’t guess that she was a female, she looked like a boy, a feminine boy, but a boy non the less. Sucking in a deep breath, she hurried from her house, not wanting to say anymore goodbyes. She’d done enough of that, now it was time to join a ship. 

She she approached the docks she slowed her steps, silently walking across the wooden planks and towards the ships. Her eyes watched, carefully looking for signs of movement, when she saw none she carefully climbed onto the nearest ship. A small laugh left her mouth as she started to look around, she hadn’t expected it to be so easy. She could hide for a day and then by the time they were out at sea they’d have no choice but to keep her.

"My pleasure." Daphne reached into her satchel and pulled out the small box of salve. "Would you like me to put it on you?"

"If it's not too much trouble." Odette turned around so that her back was facing the girl, carefully she pulled up the back of her shirt, allowing the girl easy access to her sunburn.

"They are quite beautiful, though, the way they’re made."

"I agree, there's something almost magically about them."

Giles chuckled softly, and shook his head. He reached out, placing his hand on her shoulder, surprisingly gentle. “You’re blushing,” he said, amused. “Darling, no, I want you to feel free to speak your mind. Always, always, speak your mind, so long as it does not hurt others without reason. It’s your right, and you should never sacrifice that for propriety.”

When he commented on her blushing it only made her blush more, keeping her eyes on the sand. "I usually do speak my mind.Intentionally or otherwise." The woman twisted the ends of her hair with her fingers, "bring proper is important t me."

Giles smiled slightly, a subtle expression. “I don’t believe in judgement without data, darling. Whether for good or for ill. What I know is you must be of a certain character, or Jorgen would have never have chosen you. Anything further, I’m afraid I don’t know, save that you do seem fond of questions.”

Odette blushed slightly when he said that she was fond of questions. Instantly she looked down and tucked her hair behind her ear, thankful for the darkness. "Right, I'm sorry about that. My mouth seems to move faster than my brain."

"She freaked me out. And then I harmed her. I’ll be lucky if I don’t cross paths with her again. But if I do… it should probably be after she’s had time to calm down." Ana-Mar felt the familiar flutter of fear in her stomach she got whenever she was faced with the forest. "Yes. But I need to conquer my fears. Want to help me out?"

"That seems rather straightforward and simple." She made a face while shrugging, then giving the girl a small smile. "Alright, I don't mind the forest so much... So let's get going. We can just wander around in the first couple feet of trees."

Bennet paused for a moment, slightly thrown off. They begin speaking slowly, “…my name is Bennet. What’s yours?”

"Oh!" Odette blushed slightly while she smiled at them, "Odette. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Did you burn yourself?" Daphne asked concerned. "I have some salve if you would like it."

"Yeah." She smiled while giving a small shrug, "That'd be really nice of you, thanks."

Shrugging, Marie took the knife, surprised at it’s weight and sticking it in the belt the hung round her his. “Thank you very much. I hope to put it to good use.”

"I hope so too, it's a good knife." Odette watched the girl while she looked around, "Listen, I'm generally around the beach area if you need anything. Just let me know, I'll do my best to help you out."

Don’t worry about it. It took me about two months as a… what’s the English word? Puta, ah. Whore. To learn to be comfortable with nakedness from all kinds of people. Now I just take it for granted that everyone sees it as normal.

So another of Jorgen’s. He is very blessed to have so many of his crew safe and sound.

Oh. *Odette smiled at him, despite the fact that she didn't like the idea of sex without being married, she respected that people needed to do what they needed to do to survive.* Jorgen is a good man, he deserves to have some good things happen to him every once in a while.

"Swords are very dangerous."

"I apologise, I was just admiring your skills with a blade."

"Oh, well thank you. I spent a lot of time working with a sword."

Penelope stepped back, surprised by her words. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to intrude.” In truth she had been passing by and had become transfixed by the woman’s movements. She hadn’t meant to step out into the clearing but she’d been felt drawn to her, and to the weapon. Perhaps it was how the weapon was catching the light or how swiftly it moved.  ”How did you learn to fight like that?” She asked, momentarily forgetting about herself and what she was as opposed to this girl.

Odette looked over at the girl, pausing in her moments. "It comes with being a pirate, I suppose. I learned while spending time on sea." She ran a hand through her hand while the other held her sword by her side. "Do you work for the navy?"

Oh so very sorry I was just overcome by the desire to see a woman handle a blade with far more delicacy that brutish men.
