The break had been a strange one. Just before returning to visit her family in Attilan, she— Evan took a deep breath. Even the thought about it made her feel flushed and her heart race. It was JUST a dream but… so vivid. Sometimes, she swore she still felt those lingering touches, on her arm, tickling her spine, trailing down her waist.
Returning to Aeterno didn’t help. The opposite, in fact. She felt jittery, like she drank more than her fair share of coffee. Except it was spiked. With lust. No, not that. Now she was just being silly. They were back in classes, and so she had to prioritize that. She could save the embarrassing flashbacks and daydreams of a dark haired dame for later. Now, she just needed to focus on the words in her textbook. What class was this even for…?
The knocks on her door caused her to JUMP. Quite humiliating, too. It was like she heard a gunshot. Whipping around in her seat to stare at her door, she heard that voice. That same voice. Still sultry, yet… strained. There was no way… she couldn’t have had the same… she was a magician… Oh, Gods.
Standing, Evan felt like a little love-sick school girl. Knees shaking, her breath caught in her throat, heart beating in her chest again. Smoothening her pleated skirt, she approached the door, steeling herself. She could handle this. Just act like nothing was the matter. That fleeting plan failed the moment she revealed the woman, who looked… nervous? But beautiful. So beautiful it sent a flutter of butterflies alight in the princess’s stomach.
“Professor,” Evan mumbled in greeting. The word didn’t sound any more formal than her actual name, but the thought of saying it, after the way she had moa— “Would you like to come in?” Why did she say that? Did she mean that? Yes
There was a brief moment between Zatanna’s knocking and Evangelina’s responding that she’d considered fleeing, teleporting away, act like all this had NEVER happened. The prospect appealed to her, she wasn’t even sure she was READY to see Evan, after all. So all she had to do was take a step, brace herself to run, she was GOING to leave, but suddenly ------
❛ Evangelina ------ ❜ She breathed out;; Busted. But then again, was she really ? This was her student, the same one she had come here to see, and ----- Oh, so beautiful. The Magician had to stop short, lest the air trapped in the caverns of her lungs seep out in longing moans, gaze fixed on those emerald eyes that reminded her of jade stones or perhaps of calm meadows on a lazy, summer day.
❛ I ----- ❜ I probably shouldn’t. It’s better this way, for both of us. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I’m your teacher, and yet, here I am, slowly falling for you, more and more. All because of a meaningless, redundant dream. But was it REALLY ?
❛ I suppose I could spare a few moments. ❜ Had she really said that ? WHY did she say that ? She would only cause trouble for them both, only make this much harder on herself. She hadn’t felt this way since Dinah, and even then ----- This was DIFFERENT, more taboo, and yet ---- She couldn’t resist stepping through the threshold and into the Boltagon’s dormitory, despite the tightness of her chest and the aching of her heart, the only thing Zatanna wanted more than being away from Evan, was to be WITH her.
❛ How are you doing ? ❜ What she really meant was;; did you MISS me ? But that would be inappropriate. So instead she shut the door and lingered reluctantly by the doorway, gazing flitting around and falling upon everything except Evangelina, herself. ❛ It’s been a while since we’ve last spoken. ❜
