BASIC INFO:
Name: Lian “Shoes” Harper
Age: 24
Occupation: Vigilante, Thief
Alias: Shoes; Cheshire Cat
Powers and Abilities: Acrobatics, Hand-To-Hand Combat, Batons Proficiency
Canon: Comics
BACKGROUND:
As a child, Lian was apparently killed by The Electrocutioner. Her father and the world at large believed she was dead.
In reality Lian had somehow survived, but had lost her memory. She would have recurring dreams of being rescued from a band of ninjas by a masked woman and abandoned on the steps of a church. It took most of her life to slowly piece together who her father and mother were given how much she’d lost while dead for a bit of time.
Years later, now known as "Shoes", she joined the Alleytown Strays, a group of street kids in Gotham's Alleytown area. They survived as thieves and muggers living in "The Nest", a building which had once been the headquarters of Mama Fortuna. One day she and her friends attempted to rob a wealthy woman who wandered into Alleytown. Shoes stole the woman's watch only to find that it was fake and in the process the woman had pick pocketed her Gamekid. Later that day back at The Nest, Catwoman arrived and announced that she had bought The Nest and intended to turn the Strays into a gang of thieves under her leadership. The Strays helped Catwoman to bring down the organized crime groups operating in Alleytown and become the "Queen" of Alleytown.
Shoes later became an amateur vigilante in Alleytown as Cheshire Cat wearing a homemade mask based on the one from her dream. Her first attempt at heroics went poorly as she was outnumbered and overpowered by her larger opponents. Catwoman arrived to save her and accepted her as a protégé.
Future Status:
Lian had no idea why she allowed Mar’i and the gang to talk her into returning to the past maybe it was some part of her that longed to change the outcome of her death and how she struggled without a family for so long but she agreed and ended up here in a very crazy past. She blames her friends completely for this but it does give her a chance to see her parents in a way she’d never had the chance to before.
Roy tried to hold the shock of hearing Kori would have a daughter in the future. And even more so that she was here. But that was a conversation for another time. Lian tensed as he moved closer, and he stopped. She sounded like she was about to cry. He knew the look on her face all too well. The look of someone who unfairly shouldered burdens far beyond her years. He saw the look in his friends. In himself. “What ever happened, we’ll deal with it. Together.“ he assured her. He held his hand out, hoping she’d take it. “You’re not alone Kitten.”
.
Lian knew it was pretty a shock of finding out just about her being the future not to mention that there were other kids lurking around their timeline just like her. But if anyone understood her pain it was Mar’i and Jake while it wasn’t completely the same they both had a hole in their hearts to due circumstances they couldn’t control. “Even if my being here causes a complete temporal break?” She let out a chuckle to battle away from the tears, she wished she’d had a chance to be with her father longer but the world wasn’t fair. “I’ve been alone for so long I’m not sure I know what it’s like to have someone near” She whispered looking at his hand with a sudden longing hesitating as she reached out her hand.
Peter chuckled a little. “I think I was the lucky one, that kid was trying to steal my lunch money,” he said. “Although honestly, it was better for him that you found us first. My mom would not have thought twice about fighting a kid.” He chuckled softly as she spoke and shrugged his shoulders. “I always knew my mom could get me whatever I wanted, but it was me asking, you know? I got whatever I wanted for my birthday and for Christmas. She didn’t just shower me with stuff.” He laughed a little. “I think she wanted to, but she grew up like that. She knew just because you had money didn’t mean your childhood was a happy one.” He snorted. “My dad is a detective, you know, it’s kind of his job to figure stuff out.”
.
Lian chuckled looking at the other “You were my friend and while I picked on you that didn’t even give anyone else a free pass to try. This is why we got along so well you know? I loved all our little pay dates, especially when I found out about the juice factory” She teased him before nodding her head, turning away “You had everything I always wanted, money would’ve been great but memories you can’t put a price on those.” She mused honestly before the smirk returned to her lips “You wanna put some money on that Officer Keen? I bet you he doesn’t figure it out, without someone telling him outright.”
Morgan didn’t Lian like she knew Mar’i or Jake, but she trusted her all the same. She’d seen the girl’s bravery and strength, seen her kindness. Though that part of her was less shone, in Lian’s defense they didn’t have much opportunity’s for kindness in the world they had lived in. Relief seized her at the rescue, appreciation clear on her face. “You gotta teach me how to do that with the pole thing.” She spoke, somewhat out of breath from the encounter. “The daughter of the Tin Man… yeah, that’s a bit me.” Her dad would probably get a kick out of that. Morgan nodded her head, her throat tight. “Yeah, I have to stick to the buddy system or ubers or something. I don’t know what to expect from here.” She confessed.
.
Lian wasn’t big on interacting with people outside the safety circle of friends she held for herself, she’d known of Morgan after all Mar’i was rather friendly to anyone and everyone so it was really inevitable that she’d run into her once again. Of course, she hadn’t pictured it would be something along the lines of a rescue but she handled it just the same. “That? It took a couple of years of practice to get down, though I’d think you should learn something along the lines of defense as that guy had you quickly pinned.” She mused looking at the other for a moment “It’s the best system as Mar’i would say but I’m not usually huge on hanger oners so where were you headed?”
“Right?” Jake shrugged gently. It was bittersweet to see his parents; Jake had to fight himself constantly because half of him wanted to spend as much time with them as possible and the other knew that Mar’i was right. That it was neither safe nor fair to put the weight of this on them. “If you want a tiger just ask Damian when we get home” Jake rolled his eyes playfully, shaking his head. His Uncle acted tough but he would do anything to make his nieces and nephews happy, really. Especially Mar’i. “Thank you. I just want to be included” he teased dramatically.
.
We must be the weirdo our group wanting to return back to our time” Lian mused but in truth, they’d gotten used to where they lived. Life was different but it was still their life and when Mar’i had this idea part of her wanted to go so badly yet she’d long since broken hope out of her system at a young age. “You know he would get one for me, after all my sword skills are better than most” she teased him a bit given how close their families had become even though she had little knowledge of where she’d come from. “Never fear, where Mar’i and myself are concerned we’ll never leave you behind, after all, I need someone to make faces to when things get too happy”
Roy was grateful when Lian finally stopped to talk to him. His mind was reeling but…he was happy. His daughter was here in front of him. Alive and beautiful. Proof that he wasn’t a complete waste of space. “Mar’i? Who’s that? Handle what?” he asked getting closer slowly. She clearly was upset by something, and he didn’t want to make it worse. “Kitten I’m your father. It’s my job to bear your weight. No matter the timeline.” he said softly. “What happened Lian?”
.
Lian knew better then the rest when it came to talking about the future with those of the past but there was still a part of her that longed for her father. In her time she barely remembered him, not to mention the fact when she’d finally figured out who she was he was gone. “She’s my friend, this little ball of sunshine even I can’t understand...Kori’s Daughter actually” She mused looking at the other get close tensing slightly at the nickname No one called her such but him and she could feel her resolve breaking. “This weight could break you and I don’t want to lose you again” She whispered honestly, sounding much younger then she was.
"Bravery and strength do not equal goodness.“ Jon had seen it way too often: people mistaking bravery and strength for someone good. It could be argued that Lex Luthor was brave and strong to take on his dad, but he was the furthest thing from a good person. The case was the same for Brainiac or Brain Cells. They weren’t mutually exclusive, and that was the point he was trying to get across.
Lian looked at the other as he spoke “Yeah I kinda got that, but that symbol on the other hand holds a lot of goodness, unless you are telling me you are just wearing it for kicks?” She teased him looking around, she hadn’t expected running into a super boy that’s for sure but he wasn’t trying to stop her which probably meant he hadn’t seen what she’d just collected.
Cass looked up as Lian spoke, a shy smile touching her lips. She was working on her social skills, slowly, and she thought she was getting better – but being pulled from her book like this felt like someone had tapped into a shell she was in, and it made her feel almost like her old reserved self. “Oh, I…” She looked up at Lian. “It’s just…about the…the Civil War. I’m learning about it.” She paused. “Alfred is helping.”
.
Lian looked at the girl she was rather familiar with her given their last meeting she liked hoe quiet she seemed to be. Only talking when completely necessary but also she had a look within her eyes that told her she was always analyzing date from what she’d seen. “ Civil War huh? That’s a rather depressing theme to look into but then again to each is their own” she mused taking a look at the book smiling softly “does Alfred give you homework to ensure you’ve done your reading?” She teased.
Peter smiled softly. “I know that,” he assured her. “I’ve always got yours, too.” He gave a little chuckle as she spoke, shrugging her shoulders. “Sometimes, yeah,” he said. “But it’s usually more complicated than that.” Who knew that better than the two of them? Their mothers may have both done some bad things, but on the other hand, Jade and Babs both loved their children fiercely. Even if they didn’t always show it in conventional ways. He snorted. “Okay, well, it’s not my money in our time, either,” he said. “It’s my mom’s money, and I don’t like asking her for help. I can do it myself, it’s just that maybe the stuff I can get for myself isn’t as fancy as the stuff she can get for me.” He smiled a little. “Yeah, that part is definitely weird,” he said. “It was nice to talk to her, though.” Even if she was definitely suspicious.
.
Lian smiled “Aww my little pete, I’m so lucky I found you on that playground years back” she replied teasing the other nodding her head “where we are from I don’t think we know how to do anything that’s isn’t complicated if I’m honest.” She knew her mother loved her after all she wouldn’t have been breathing if she didn’t but she also was busy and a free spirit of her own and in truth having a daughter never seemed to slow her down. “And just like that the Gordon genes shine through, I don’t know how either of you got such humble being from such wealth, either way you know me I’m all about that bargain brand type stuff.” She mused before nodding her head “You know, one of them is going to figure this out, your father I’m less inclined to believe he would but your sister is very clever”
“I definitely hope we’ll be back home soon, so yeah, dinner’s on me” he chuckled. Jake was a pessimist at best, but he couldn’t afford to be negative about this. He had to believe that they were going to make it back. “Again. No zoo with Mar’i. Ever. Under any circumstances. You’ll only encourage her and Uncle Damian is bad enough..” Jake sighed. “Plus, that’s my job” he playfully pouted.
.
Lian chuckled softly “it’s gotten rather sentimental back here, I’ll admit I miss our fucked up future” she mused honestly before nodding her head with him “Fine just this once I wont allow Mar’i to pull into another scheme, but then again I still want a tiger, I’d call it Camilla” She smirked before laughing “Well I would never dream of taking your job away so if any zoo breaks happen I’ll be sure to call you first.”

Lian has various relationships with all the feature kids, she never spent long periods of time with Morgan but that didn’t mean she’d allow someone to try and hurt her. She quickly picked up a pole she’d found in the alley before using it to knock the assailant unconscious before turning to look at the other. “You know you remind me of that book something about lost in oz and the daughter of the Tin Man, this time isn’t like our Morgan, these streets are mean and cruel, especially to those with kind hearts.”
❛ When you listen to me, I think the stars will fall. ❜ Roy sighed as he looked at his daughter. A fact that he was still trying to wrap his arm around. Jade had left with the smaller version of their daughter, worried about her being in such close proximity with their larger version. “Lian please. I just want to talk.” he begged. “why are you back here?”
Lian loved her father even if she couldn’t remember his face after a while she knew that he loved her, the only problem was that he wasn’t there watching her grow. Her mother had taken her younger self once they’d proved her to be theirs meaning she’d already changed Young Lian’s fate at this point. “I didn't want either of you to find out, came back because Mar’i couldn’t handle this alone but I never planned to face my past” She explained before looking down at the floor. “Bad things happen in the future dad…..you shouldn’t bare that weight with me.”
[ STUDY ] : for your muse to join mine to study / read || @cassxndracain
Lian never had much time or resources growing up when it came to learning, she learn street smarts, which alley to hide, and which person was kind enough to kids to feed. But now in this time and with her friends, she expressed slight interest in learning other things as well. So when she happened around Cass studying something or other she plopped down on the chair next to her. “So what are you studying? You are pretty deep in that book”
Peter laughed softly and shook his head. “Despite what the two of you seem to think, I can take care of myself,” he said lightly, a little smile on his face as he shook his head. “Maybe not quite as violently as you two would, but still.” He chuckled. “Thank you, I appreciate that,” he said. “At least while I’m at work.” He laughed as she spoke, looking over at her. “It was different when it was a bully on the playground,” he said. “I had a growth spurt, most of the bullies are around my size now.” Peter looked over at her and snorted. “Lian, I work at the police department, there is not much to take from me,” he said. He smiled and shrugged. “I’ve been good, though,” he said. “Just working mostly.” He considered the fact that it seemed pretty likely that Babs might make him soon. “My sister stopped by the other day.”
.
Lian looked at the other rolling her eyes “Of course you can, but then again that’s friendship kicking others asses who mess with you. You know I’ve always got your back” She mused before shrugging her shoulders “okay okay but what is a grown up baddie? If not a bully on some type of playground” She replied back looking at her friend smirking she knew he could take care of himself but it was the principal of the thing sometimes certain bullies needed a little reminder on proper manners. “Ahh but you forget back in our time you have quite the little fortune, just like Jake and Mar’i you little heir you” she teased looking at the other for a moment “how was that? I mean it must seem so odd to see her close to your age?”
Lian had told him once that if he ever needed to talk that she would be there for him, an offer that Jake had brushed off at the time considering that he never wanted to talk about his feelings. He’d always been better at avoiding them, but then why would he have to avoid them alone? “It could include food” he chuckled, shaking his head. “Just as long as it’s nothing too fancy. I don’t have a Wayne Enterprises card in this timeline, remember?” he reminded her. “I’m glad you’re fluent” he smirked, not denying it. “Please, and I’m begging you, never go to a zoo with Mar’i”
.
Lian looked at the other if anything she could see that something was bugging him something that he didn’t want to outright have to spell out to someone. She’d always found between the two siblings while Mar’i was like sunshine Jake held a darker element to him much like herself. “Well lucky for you my tastes aren’t expensive though if you ever do get your hands on that card again I’d enjoy being taken out by one of Gotham’s elite wealthy” She teased him nodding her head “I take Sunshine would enjoy a prison break if we did? I can’t say I blame her, I’ve always wanted a Lion or a tiger what do you think it goes with my aesthetic right?”
“Hey, uh, I get that you’re probably busy and everything but, uh…if you had the time I was wondering if you might like to go to the aquarium with me?” Jake asked with a sigh. “It’s dumb but I could use the distraction and, well, I guess you aren’t the worst company in the world” he rolled his eyes, a small smile growing on his face. “Just let me know, okay? No big deal either way”
Lian looked at the other for a moment, in truth she was doing an expert job of avoidance when it came to her father. She could see how curious he became when she’d finally introduced herself and being Daddy’s little girl, she wouldn’t be able to lie to him for long. “The Aquarium? I suppose I could if this trip also includes food” She mused moving to grab her jacket before smirking “That’s Jake speak for you love me, and sure I’d love to see a fish in a bowl with you, maybe we can release a squid or something” She winked at the other whatever was causing the other to need a distraction she’d gladly lend a hand
Peter snorted softly. “You and my mom have a way lower bar for ill intent than most people,” he said. “I’m pretty sure the both of you just go around looking for fights.” He gave her a grin and shrugged. “Well, thank you, but please don’t beat anyone up,” he said. “Or maim them in any way. Especially not at the precinct where I work. Or any of them, for that matter.” He pouted again, ever so slightly, shrugging his shoulders. “Yeah, well, I can be spoiled and right at the same time,” he pointed out stubbornly. He smiled, standing up and following her out of the room. “Okay, okay, sounds good.”
.
Lian looked at the other while she did a fake face of hurt mixed with innocence “Anyone who dares pick on you that isn’t me or Yara will meet my fist it’s the pack we made when we were tiny little youngsters” She teased him shrugging a bit “I mean sometimes it adds spice every life and I promise to be on my best behavior just for you” she teased him, after all, she didn’t want to draw too much attention while in police headquarters. “You used to love it when I maim have we hit a stalemate in our relationship?” she pouted before smiling “You are so lucky we are besties otherwise I would’ve robbed you blind by now, so tell me how are things going being rookie?”
