[ elizabeth olsen, cis womann, she/her ] whatever you think you know about KALISTA PAYNE, the 32 year old, BISEXUAL, NEW COMER, it is likely time for you to start reconsidering. the rumored HELLHOUND is often described as ADAPTABLE + ADVENTUROUS, but don’t let them fool you; they can also be STUBBORN + HOT-TEMPERED, which often has them regarded as the DIVIDED. they are a BARTENDER at MY ALIBI, but it’s also said they are a ROGUE within the ROGUE RESIDENTS. whatever you hear, you can’t deny there’s more to them that meets the eye, and it’s time we start uncovering the truth.
Born and raised in the bustling city of Las vegas, Nevada to Alexander and Sofia Payne, who were respectively a successful business man and owner of his family’s casino while she was a professional photographer, Kalista was the second oldest child of four.
She had one older brother, one younger brother and sister who were twins. Kalista’s older brother was her role model as he was able to achieve his goals and currently works as a fashion editor for a famous fashion magazine in Germany
Kalista, or called Kali by her family, was probably the most family-loyal yet also the most difficult child of the family. When she showed no hesitation in picking up fights with her older school mates for making fun of her and didn’t come home crying when she got beaten up.
(tw start) However during high school, Kalista started to take drugs because she had sleeping issues and came in contact with the wrong friends that made her easily irritable to a point where she threatened a fellow classmate who had only asked for some papers, causing her to be almost expelled.
It only got worse, when she started to party every weekend, skipping on her extra study sessions until one night, where she caused a severe car accident by colliding with an incoming truck and was pretty sure that she was dying.
However days later at the hospital, Kalista woke up and had miraculously survived the accident without any serious wounds on her, much to the surprise of her family and the doctors. (tw end)
Despite the protests of her parents, she returned to high school with a more focused mind and her grades improved alot, eventually graduating with flying colors.
Kalista decided not to attend any colleges or universities as she wanted to travel the world and being away from her family
Months after the accident, the hellhound which was the sole reason why she had survived, revealed itself to Kalista when she found herself in a dangerous situation during a night out (which explained the noticeable changes in her behavior and the occassional memory loss, not remembering how she got to places or when)
She was shocked at first but then she felt gratitude, for giving her another chance at life when she was at her lowest point and they managed to establish a strong connection in the following years
Deciding to settle down after years of travelling the world on her own, Kalista moved to Creation Peaks, fascinated by the mountains and it’s surroundings - unknown of what might lie ahead of her
WANTED CONNECTIONS:
best friend, close friends, frenemies, former flings and exes, on-off relationship (it should have been all fun and no strings at first, then they got to know each other on another level and in the next they break it off over the most stupid reasons..)
- open to anything so feel free to dm me! or thru discord if you’d like to!
The wendigo smiled brightly as Kalista validated his observation. Sure, if he really wanted to listen to music, drink and chill, Mando could go to a bar or regular club. Since feeding with Nyx, however, the wendigo felt plenty comfortable in a small, lightly lit room with half naked humans… Which was a nice change of pace.
Raising his glass to his friend in silent toast with a solemn nod of his head once Kalista poured him the rum. “You have nothing to thank me for,” he assured with a soft smile, remembering well enough what it was like to be the new kid on the block. “Turns out… Rum is rum regardless of how much it costs,” he judged with a chuckle after half a cup.
She almost let out a snort at his words, since she was simply saying the truth. “Hey, without your help, I would have probably chosen the wrong neighborhood or looked into the eyes of the wrong people.” The house where she was living was in a pretty decent area, not far from her work or from her fiancé’s, it was perfect. “Well, you pay mostly for the brand”, Kalista stated after serving another customer, returning in front of him, “I could like pour you a cheaper alcohol and say it’s the most expensive one, if you have never tasted it before.”
An amused laugh fell from Christopher’s lips as he shook his head at his fiance’s words, amusement spreading against his features. “I say we wait until tomorrow,” the wolf countered. “Considering I’ve gotta get my stuff moved in anyways, it’s just gonna get messy again.”
“That sounds reasonable.” She hummed in agreement, continuing to walk with him as she reached up to tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear. It would make sense since they would have to rearrange the placements and everything. “I assume you have lots of boxes, love? I mean the house is really big, it even has like two guest rooms that I only used as storage rooms till now.”
nadia had known about the supernatural world from a young age, but she was still surprised. “ how does it feel ? ” she asked with her eyebrows knitted together. “ oh, sorry about that ” the banshee mused, now feeling somehow guilty. “ i’ll be fine, y’know, you can go home ”
"It’s.. awful. I’m like having this urge to get close as possible to where it happened.. the more recent, the stronger it is.” She casually wrapped her arms around herself, pressing her lips together for a moment and took a deep breath. Remembering those earlier days where she didn’t know how she got to one place, Kalista was glad that she had managed to build up a strong connection to her hellhound and suppress those urges from time to time when she didn’t felt like it. “No, no.. it’s okay, he will understand. Besides we haven’t seen each other for a while.”
the banshee let out a sigh, her eyes moving to meet kalista’s dark gaze. “ i guess this kind of situation just affects us both, in different ways ” she sighed, they were just so different but they were linked somehow. “ thanks, i really appreciate this ” nadia smiled warmly at the other, “ were you close when you heard me or ? ”
Upon hearing the other’s word, Kalista slowly nodded her head, humming in response. “Yeah it does..” Her own smile grew, letting out a soft chuckle. “Not that close but still, I heard you. I was actually taking a walk through the park and was on my way home since Chris is probably waiting for me.”
“It’s settled then,” Chris mused, a smile pulling against his lips as his icy gaze met her hazel hues. A soft chuckle vibrated against her lips as they brushed against his own, her words pulling amusement from him as she peppered her lips against his skin, blue hues falling shut at the tingling sensation she left behind each time. A hum was quick to leave his lips at her words, his hues reopening as he moved to force their gazes to meet again. “How could I ever say no to that,” he questioned tauntingly before pressing his lips against her own for a moment before pulling back once more to peer down at the woman. “Lead the way, sweetheart.”
Thinking about it, got Kalista really excited as the last date that they had was before she left for her trip and it was the hardest decision she had ever made. She smiled against his lips upon hearing his answer, finally pulling away to wrap her arms around his and gently tugged him in the direction of her, soon their, house. “It might be a little messy but I’ll clean it up later..”, she glanced up at him, “Or tomorrow.”
The gravedigger chuckled when told the night was going fun. “I get it.” Although his slow days were spent chilling at a graveyard at night, but it wasn’t as bad as people thought. “At least I can finally hear the playlist… it’s actually really good.” Most of the time, people were screaming everywhere to speak to one another, large parties shouted out of excitement… It was a bit chaotic, to say the least.
After taking a seat, a little hooking up was offered and caused Mando to smile brightly. “I owe you one,” the wendigo agreed to the top shelf stuff at bottom shelf price. Sadly, he couldn’t hook her up with a free grave—which would also probably just unnerve her. However, he could bring some people next time and talk them into buying top shelf stuff and the such. There was always a way to scratch each other’s back in Creation Peaks. “I’ll take a glass of Ambassador then. See if it’s really worth 300 a bottle,” he jested with a chuckle.
“Right? Finally people can listen to it and just enjoy their drinks, rather having someone yelling or anything.” Shaking her head at his word, she grabbed one of the clean glasses along with his chosen alcohol, smoothly pouring it before placing the drink in front of him. “Happy tasting, also you don’t owe me anything”, she chuckled softly before reaching below to take a sip from her own bottle which was just some soft drink. “It’s kinda a way of saying thank you. For helping me out when I was pretty new in this place.”
“I know,” Chris mused, shaking his head as a chuckle eased from his lips. A smile was quick to pull across his features as her nose scrunched, finding the small action adorable before she continued speaking which garnered a nod of his head. “How about we go for coffee and pastries in the morning, then?” Brows furrowed slightly as his fiance stopped, features only relaxing as a hand was placed against his chest, his own digits rising to settle atop of it as his free hand found it’s resting place against her waist. Amusement was evident as he failed to conceal it, laughter falling from his chest as he slowly shook his head. “Big house with lots of space, huh,” he questioned, voice low as his grip against her waist tightened slightly and he pulled her frame in a little closer, features dipping down to lightly brush his nose against her own, lips ghosting against hers. “I might need to be the judge of that.”
A low hum slipped from Kalista upon hearing his suggestion and she nodded her head. “A breakfast date? I’d love that.” Her heart skipped a beat when his hand engulfed her own, the simple placement on her waist sending another shiver down her spine and that’s how much he was affecting her. “Mhm.. we could go now..”, she briefly brushed her lips against his, moving to place another light kiss to his cheek and finally one on his neck, just where his pulse was. “And you can judge it tonight, love.”
His last relationship came about not even two hours after the other guy called it quits. It’d been with someone who he had some late night encounters with back in high school, but he ended up moving away, never to be seen from again. That was until Micah received a like on one of his many dating apps and come to his surprise, it came from said high school boy toy. There was a mutual attraction then and it still lingered after all these years, but after eight months together, he too called it off. It was after that breakup that Micah started to wonder if it was something about him that was the issue. “I’m an EMT, so I hear a lot more of everyone’s medical woes on the lob, give or take. What do you do if you don’t mind my asking?” Finishing his drink, Micah ended up ordering another once the bartender came back over and took her order as well. “Everyone I know tells me that, too. You’d think by now I’d listen. Curse the need to please others.”
"Oh I work as a bartender these days, sometimes I get extra paid or not.” Reaching out, she grabbed one of the small bowls with the snacks and plopped a peanut into her mouth, chewing on it while watching the bartender do their orders. These days Kalista was still learning some tricks here and there by simply watching others do the job before trying it herself once she was back at work. “I guess that’s kinda a hard habit to get rid of..”
Quinn hadn’t been the first one of ‘them’ to react to the presence of this other person. His eyes instantly flared their fiery glow and while small, he could feel a flicker of flame forming around his fingers. However, before it could form actual flames, Quinn shook his hands, sending actual embers flying off of them like a burnt log that had just been poked and pushed to the side. “Stop it… you already ruined the night for me.” He spoke in a low whisper. It seemed to work as the feeling like he was falling into somewhere dark faded but he could feel something, something that felt very familiar to him but that one he couldn’t quite pin down. “I’m… okay. Just walking up in places I don’t remember going to. Ahhh…. sleeping walking I suppose.”
"Must be some pretty intense sleep walking if you ended up.. well here.” Her eyebrows knitted together, gaze roaming around the location which was quite deserted and a bit unusual to land it but she couldn’t really judge him since she did sleep walk a few times until she found out about her hellhound. “Do you want a cab to go home or anything?”
A soft chuckle eased from his lips as he gazed adoringly down at the hellhound within his arms, continuing to move down the street with her as he marveled in all of the little things about her like her laugh and the sound of her voice, the way her hues lit up when the lights hit against them. Amusement began to pull across his features as laughter rose in his chest and he shook his head at Kalista. “I know, I know,” Christoff mused humorously. “Maybe I just wanted to wait and try them with you? I know much you love baked goods so I thought it could’ve been something that we did together.” A hum eased from his lips at her question, a grin tugging at his lips. “A hotel,” he admitted before he feigned a look of surprise. “Ms. Payne are you asking me to move in with you? I’ll have you know that I am a very happily taken man. Whatever would my fiance think of this proposal?”
"I’m weak for baked good, babe. No matter which place, I always have to try them out first before even knowing where the next shopping mall is.” She laughed out loud, scrunching up her nose at her own silly habit. “But that sounds good, let’s try them out next time.” Upon seeing the feigned look of surprise on his face, she stopped them and placed a hand on his chest while letting go of his other, only to sneak it around his neck. “Well, Mr. Odegard, I’m pretty sure your fiance wouldn’t mind that, given the fact that it’s a big house with lots of space.. and a nice backyard”, her voice turning a bit husky at the end, smiling up at him.
nadia looked up at kalista for the first time since she appeared at her apologize, she didn’t want to sound harsh. “ i’m sorry, it’s not your fault at all ” she assured. “ this affects me too much and … well i can’t control it ” nadia explained. “ not right now, maybe later ” she smiled at the other, letting out a sigh. that familiar feeling still in her chest, she wished she could just forget about it.
“No, no.. I should get it by now, how worse it is for you than me, Nadia.” She still had to learn more how it felt for Nadia, or more, the Banshee side of her. “The urge to just go and see where it happened.. it’s there, but I’m trying my best to hold it off”, she gave her a small smile, reaching out to place a hand on her shoulder. “Whenever you’re ready, I’m here for you, okay?”
A smile was shot down at the woman within his arm as she chuckled, the melodic sound wrapping around the werewolf like a song he had known all his life as he pulled her in further and place a gentle kiss against her temple. “Far too long but I’m here now,” Chris mused, tone soft as she leaned her frame against him and their digits intertwined. A laugh eased from his lips as his fiancé mentioned Geeks and Freaks, shaking his head within his amusement as they continued to move down the sidewalk. “I was in there the other day actually,” the wolf admitted. “Didn’t try any of the baked goods, I was a little too wrapped up in the Daredevil comic I found but the coffee was decent.”
Kalista hummed in content in response to the kiss, affectionately squeezing his hand and she couldn’t be more happier to have him back around again. The separation was hard for them but it was necessary if they wanted to have some peace, settle down and build up the future together that they had always wanted. “What, and you didn’t..?”, she gasped at his words, shaking head before a laughter slipped from her lips. “I know you can be a geek sometimes, which is one of the things I love about you but not trying their heavenly baked goods? That’s a crime, mister Odegard.” Of course, she was joking and gently poked his side, continuing to walk with him. “By the way, where have you been staying? I finally managed to move into the dream house that we have always wanted.”
Finding himself at My Alibi, the wendigo couldn’t help the uncharacteristic apathy towards the food around him. What would’ve usually been a great exercise for self-control and learning about his boundaries, was now just another bar to drink at.
Seeing the familiar face behind the bar, the wendigo smiled. “Good afternoon, how’s the shift so far?” he asked as he took a seat at a stool nearby Kalista. “Doesn’t seem too full today.”
Working during the week sometimes felt like a chore especially when there’s less customers than usual and less gossip to listen too and Kalista was unable to just nothing. She decided to clean some glasses, glancing between the television and her phone, waiting for a response from her fiancé when she heard a familiar voice. “Hey, Mando!”, she flashed him a soft grin, putting the glass away to take another and sighed out loud. “As you can see.. very fun.“
When Kalista had moved to Creation Peaks, she was a bit lost until she met Mando who had offered to help her settle in and since then had considered him as one of her friends, to whom she was still very thankful for to this very day. “Since my boss is not around, I can give you the most expensive one, for free. Just this time or else, she is going to notice it.”
nadia’s eyes were now lost at the end of the hallway, for a second zoning out after feeling how life was taken away, she wasn’t able to tell if that happened far away or not. at this moment she was just trying to push that feeling was feeling away when a familiar face walked close to her. “ i - i can’t be alright after this ” she simply answer, letting out the air she had been holding. “ how am i supposed to be alright in this town ? ”
Crossing her arms over her chest, her gaze stilled on nadia before she glanced of into the direction where she felt that it had happened, fighting the urge to dash off to the location. “sorry, wrong choice of words..”, Kalista apologized, shaking her head at herself and sighed, “Do you.. want to talk about it? ”
