what's  with  these  buffoons?  it's  the  first  thought  he  has,  brows  twitching.  it's  like  he  turns  around  and  there's  a  wind  breathing  student  breathing  down  his  neck,  barging  into  his  space. where the hell does suzugi find them all? 

narrowed  eyes  snap  in  the  other's  direction,  as  if  he  can  will  ryokaze  with  just  his  eyes  to  disappear  at  once.  but  the  moon  …  his  gaze  drifts  reluctantly,  turning  upwards  instead  of  the  pointed  look  shot  to  his  fellow  slayer.  it  is  lovely,  he  finds, though it is just the moon. nothing special about it.

his  mouth  parts,  then  promptly  closes  when  the  other speaks again.  he  lingers  in  the  moment,  mulling  over  the  question  in  his  mind  before  sighing.  sharp  eyes  level  on  the  man.  “  will  you  leave  me  be  if  I  agree?  ”

ryokaze laughs sharply into the air between them , smile brightening a touch. still , he watches as the other slayer's gaze drifts up towards the sky. the moon is the moon , it doesn't exactly change much. even still , it is nice to look at sometimes , to take a moment to notice the finer details of the world around you.

but clearly his presence isn't so intolerable that he's being turned away , so ryokaze will take the small victory for what it is. one hand moves to rest comfortably on the handle of his blade , a habit he's formed out of need more than anything else.

he  hates  going  outside  during  the  day.  the  sun  has  a  tendency  to  scorch  the  pale  complexion  of  the  wind  breathing  student,  not  that  he  minds  the  excuse  to  stay  indoors  –  that  is,  until  the  dim  light  of  the  setting  sun  paints  the  sky  in  colors  that  make  him  think  of  home.  of  a  village  long  since  gone,  likely.  of  a  family  that's  shared  such  a  fate. 

ayuto  drifts  outside  with  barely  a  sound,  quieter  than  even  a  mouse  –  or  so  lady  hamamoto  would  say.  so  when  he  creeps  up  on  a  fellow  swordsman  and  comrade,  friend  even,  ayuto  nearly  jumps  out  of  his  skin  when  he  realizes  he's  been  spotted  at  all.  “  good  after  –  ah,  evening,  asakura-san.  ”

he  takes  the  offered  seat  –  sitting  across  from  the  elder  of  suzugi's  students. though slides to the ground fairly quickly.  knees  pulled  close  to  his  body,  ashen  tipped  dark  locks  pooling  to  one  side  as  he  watches.  “  do…  do  you  do  that  every  night?  ”

❛ when it is needed , yes. the best weapon is one you are most familiar with , & what better way to familiarize oneself with a sword than to maintain it ?? ❜

ryokaze doesn't look at ayuto when he speaks , amber eyes looking down the length of his blade. swordsmanship was perhaps all that he cared to carry from what remained of his former life , a hobby that'd become his livelihood now. he supposed , in a way , it was relaxing , a way to decompress , to right himself after long days or difficult missions.

when he's satisfied , ryokaze sheathes his sword once more , glancing over towards his companion. ayuto is so silent that were the land around them not so still , he may not have noticed him at all. not that that's a bad thing , not at all.

❛ i quite enjoy this time of night. i find the world is much more at peace when the sun goes down. at least , most of the world. ❜

ryokaze laughs to himself , hands clasped behind his back as he stands beside the thunder breather. the moon truly isn't unlike every other moon he's seen , but the sentiment still stands. his gaze drifts from the sky down towards his companion , kind smile still sitting on his face.

ryokaze's smile is chipper as ever , even taking in the lingering warmth of the setting sun. he offers a polite bow of his head towards his companion before turning back to polishing his sword. he's strict with its maintenance , it's as much an art to him as is the swordmaking itself. his trusted blade shines in the low-light as he hums to himself.

driver (his name is casey tho i am not immune to propaganda) is so much like a wounded shelter dog to me. he's afraid and on edge almost constantly, and his fear is where his violent tendencies come from. he's afraid and violence is the only thing he's really ever known to be a constant in his life. he's used to being violent and experiencing violence (heavy on the receiving violence), but he's only ever violent when he's afraid, afraid of losing the people he cares about, afraid of them getting hurt. he doesn't want to be a violent dog, he isn't a violent dog. when casey feels safe, he's all soft smiles and sweetness and a little shy. make no mistake, he's certainly got a history of biting, but never the people he loves.
