A GUIDE FOR ALL NEWCOMERS INTO THE WORLD OF WINNER

As the boys have been getting more recognition the last few days, with a very successful debut album topping charts, I thought I’d do a little guide for all the people who wanna get to know the boys a bit better.

THE MEMBERS

The basic information you need to know about each of the members of WINNER, and a few facts that will help you ease your way into the fandom. Also some links for the members who were active before joining YG.

KIM JINWOO (91.09.26) ⟶ VOCAL How to recognize him: He looks like the maknae, acts like the maknae and dresses like the maknae but he’s the oldest hyung. He gets lost pretty easily, even when he hasn’t even gone outside. He trained the longest out of all the members and he’s pretty close to BB’s Seungri.

LEE SEUNGHOON (92.01.11) ⟶ RAPPER The YG fanboy who made his dreams come true. He’s the rapper and occasionally the choreographer of the group, just look for the guy that’s always moving around and you’ll find him. He’s also the tallest member and usually forgets to put on pants, but you won’t hear any complaints. He writes the lyrics for all his rap parts.

SONG MINHO (93.03.30) ⟶ RAPPER He was almost a member of Block B but had to drop out before their debut, later he debuted in a ballad group called B.O.M, but things didn’t work out for him either. Thankfully he ended up in YG and is now the main rapper in WINNER, he plays a big part in composition and lyrics for the group, and he’s one of the two members with solos on their debut album.

In Mino’s case I should direct you to THIS post for all his pre-debut stuff, cause it’s mostly audio.

KANG SEUNYOON (94.01.21) ⟶ LEADER, VOCAL The leader of the group, responsible for most of the composition, lyrics and nagging. Doesn’t mind taking his clothes off in front of people and might seem a bit weird at first glance. Whenever WINNER’s doing an acoustic set he’s the guy with the black guitar, seen in pretty much every episode of WIN.

NAM TAEHYUN (94.05.10) ⟶ VOCAL, MAKNAE Look for the guy with the droopy eyebrows who looks like he’s 3000% done with everybody and you’ll find namtae, the boy who got on his knees to sing for his YG audition and got laughed at for not being “yg style”. He’s got a million hidden talents but to name a few: he can sing, compose, write lyrics (the second member with a solo track on the album), beatbox, breakdance, box and act well enough to trick his group members into thinking he’s a crying drunk mess. People might take him for a diva, but he really loves his members, he just has trouble showing it.

YG WHO IS NEXT: As a fan who suffered through this show in real time I wouldn’t blame you if you choose to skip it, but I feel like it’s the most important part to understand the foundation of WINNER. And it’s on YouTube with subs so don’t be lazy.
