Heads or Tails?

Who do you think I am-- the Riddler? This is no game I play! This is obsession! I do what I do because of what fate has made me-- not because I enjoy "matching wits" with the Batman! Nor do I particularly care to make his life hell-- as the Joker does! Fate has cursed me with duality-- and I decided long ago that it is my ugly, evil side which dominates! Similarly, Batman's fate-given destiny is to oppose evil and ugliness. I act and he reacts! Let him come! I never run!!

“I mean you could try if you must, but don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Retaining injuries wasn’t something that happened easily to her. Bullets had a habit of bouncing off her elastic skin or bring absorbed completely in that blundering blob form. Gumption? Despite the situation Rita couldn’t help but smile at the compliment. “Well thank you I am quite proud of my gumption as well.” A guess wouldn’t hurt, it might even uncomplicate things if she got it right. “I suppose I’ll go with heads then.”

The gumption on this woman was amazing. Not only was she just standing against him but even had the grace to enjoy his compliment. “As you should be, I’m curious as to what your name is. I've never seen you around Gotham but it has been awhile since I was set free. They call me Two-Face” He mused before smirking as he flipped the coin, he wondered what fate had instore for the woman simply because she fascinated him. So when the coin landed on Heads he couldn’t help but nod his head and uncocked his gun. “Looks like fate is on your side, justice always finds a way of happening.”

“Oh, okay. Gotcha. Harvey has left the building.” She paused, thinking it through. “Or I guess he’s probably locked up in a mental basement somewhere.” She pursed her lips. “Huh, okay. Duly noted.” She jumped a little as he shot the man she had been having fun with right between the eyes. “Jeez Louise, Har – oh, sorry – jeez Louise, Two-Face. Warn a girl, huh? I didn’t even get to call it.”

Two-Face eyed the girl she was so much like her mother it was crazy but then again that was the best thing about Lucy. “That’s correct, very good Lucy for now Harvey is left the building and now I’m making the choices.” he replied before smirking at the other raising an eyebrow at the other when she almost slipped again with the wrong name before laughing “I’m sorry I took your fun, but surely we can find another one you can call it on?”

“Oooooh!” Jerome grinned widely as he approached, an excited little giggle catching on his lips. He wasn’t surprised that Harvey had tripped over from the “good” side to the other part of his dual nature. He personally thought this side of him was his real self, the self that everybody buried so deep, that society made them hide away. Jerome had been like that too, once, although his transformation had happened when he was so young, he could hardly remember being another way. “What fun!” He pranced to Harvey’s side, grinning. “Can I call it, Harv, huh, can I? Can I?”

Jerome was an interesting soul not quite part of the Rogues gallery but still sick enough to enjoy causing chaos and fun wherever he went. Two-Face was glad to be out, there was no denying that he had plenty of territory to regain now that he’d once again taken control of Harvey’s body. “My name isn’t Harv, he is dead and buried I’m Two-Face, you will call me by my name under you want this bullet to enter your gut you little brat.” he replied to the other moving the coin between his fingers debating if he should flip it or not. “I suppose you could call it but what do I get if you lose Jerome? A little mayhem is to be had on this night and I need to rebuild my empire.”

Lois bent and picked up a portion of a shattered brick, one of many that littered the street as a result of the general mayhem. She wound up and threw it at Dent, landing hard in the middle of his back. It probably wasn’t even hard enough to bruise, considering that one of her many strengths wasn’t actual physical prowess, but she hoped it was enough to distract him from whatever poor bastard he was attempting into an example of his twisted justice. “You know, you’ve been doing this whole coin schitck for a long time,” she commented idly. “I think you could change it up. Maybe dice? You know, throw in some more options.”

Two-Face felt the brick hit his back causing him to growl at the woman not only had he failed to catch his coin allowing it to drop on the ground but he was interrupted by the terror that was Lois Lane. If Harvey didn’t like the little journalist then Two-Face hated her, so he couldn’t help but smirk at the tails part of the coin showing as he shot the guy in the back as he tried to run away. “Tell me Miss Lane, is that blood on your hands as well? Fate might have been in his favor if you didn’t hit me” He mused, grabbing his coin from the ground while keeping his gun trained on the other. “More options muddle the point, there is no one to bride or beg when the coin decides who lives or dies. So far you’d done nothing to break the Law Miss Lane, you haven’t done something to deserve my wrath, so I’ll give you this one chance to walk away.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa…” Lucy stared at Harvey, her hands up – granted, one hand was still tightly grasping a baseball bat, but still, it was a clear gesture of sorry. “Hey, Harv, what’s the big deal?” She pouted. “I’m just having a little fun, that’s all.” She shrugged her shoulders, her eyes widening plaintively. “You know me, I don’t mean any harm by it, really.” She glanced down at the man she had beaten rather soundly with her bat. “I mean…he’s probably gonna be hurting in the morning, but I don’t think I broke anything.” She paused. “Maybe a couple of things.” And then she brightened. “But, you know what, I can fix him right up! And I won’t even ask him for insurance or anything.”

Two-Face eyed the girl he’d seen her before through Harvey’s eyes and knew she was off limits but it did ruin his fun as he growled out his displeasure “Its Two-Face, little Harv isn’t here but I know of your importance to harley and Pam so you will always be safe.” he paused looking at the man who was still breathing even after the brutal beating “you friend though” He flipped his coin as it landed on tails shooting him between the eyes “Wasn’t so lucky, I’m afraid you can’t fix death Little one, maybe the next one.”

Rita had faced down a variety of different beings in her long time on earth. Both villains, heroes and all in-between. She wasn’t much of either, even when she tried to be. Perhaps she should be more afraid when facing down the barrel of a gun, and god knows what Larry would be saying (probably something along the lines of Rita no). Nonetheless she found herself unable to be fretted about life or death when she’d lead both intolerable ones. “The law? Do I look like someone who has vandalized the law?” Then again her memory was a bit scath on what the updated laws were nowadays, but Rita was sure she hadn’t broken any of them. She had perfectly good behavior! Except maybe when people died on account of her inability to quite literally keep it together, but besides that bit. “Good luck with that.” Her hands were on her waist as she spoke with a light huff. “Neither have gone swimmingly I must say.” Her life had been a shitcluster and then she died, only to not die and live an even bigger clusterfuck.

Two-Face faced the woman whose style was something he could appreciate but he’d been told to wreak havoc on the Streets of Gotham, announcing the arrival of Two-Face and the death of Harvey Dent needed a body pile. She wasn’t scared which made him smirk at her as he moved to slightly lower his gun “You aren’t afraid of the judgement the Coin may bestow on you?” He questioned curiosity about the others; not many in Gotham acted this way; plenty knew of him and once Two-Face arose the fear seemed to follow. “I like your gumption, not many have it when facing me so I’ll do something I’ve never done before, I’ll give you two chances to live, I’ll allow you a guess of Heads or Tails. This way if you claim it to be Tails and it falls on such you will walk free if you guess wrong and it still lands on tails your life is mine.”

Not being able to fight the source of the friction of the chaos that swallowed the city within the walls of the Sanctum, leaving Rita in the safety of the walls with Bats. Took to the streets of Gotham where mayhem reign, he moved to the centre of the street to cast a spell when he was stopped by a peculiarly calm man with crazy eyes from the monologue that followed, Stephen had to button his bottom lip to his top, not to laugh out loud. What the hell was with the villains in this city, that of a cartoon villain they all seemed to be cut from and it was humorous to the sorcerer, yet he kept himself as serious as possible. “And I am Doctor Strange,  meaning I swore an oath to do no harm to others.” He stated as serious as he possibly could muster in this situation. But when the coin came out. “You’re serious?” that is when Stephen lost the serious note to his tone, chuckling out loudly. “Kill me if it brings an end to your cheesy monologue of your life story, I ain’t got time for it.”

Two-Face looked at the other as he spoke these heroes got so dramatic when it came with their naming's now this one claimed to be a doctor which shouldn’t surprise him as most of his closest friends were ones with PHDs but still it never got old finding what new heroes to crush under his boot. “Strange you are, as many people in Gotham would rather keep walking than partake in any that has to deal with the rogues.” He mused looking at him flipping his coin in the air “I’m very serious the only true justice is fate, it can’t be brought or fixed Heads people live Tails people die.” He replied looking at the other as it landed on Heads “Sadly luck is on your side, so you shall live for now.”

     Whatever small amount of guilt Duela may have been feeling surrounding her involvement in swapping out Harvey’s pills over all of those weeks had quickly dissolved the second that she had watched her father - her real father - finally take off that do gooder mask, revealing all that had been hiding beneath the surface. She hardly even tried to hold back her ecstatic grin as she followed along, a giddy laugh leaving her at the mention of a surprise. “I like surprises” she nodded, stepping into the warehouse and clocking the victims he’d gathered. “Too long, but everything had to fall into place to keep the capes off of our scent, I’m sure you understand” she rolled her eyes. “Heads” Her smirk was sinister, plotting. She knew how it worked, however. Whatever the coin says goes, no ifs, ands or buts.

Two-Face favored Duela; there was no denying that within her he found something he’d been long since missing. The childish want of Harvey’s to have a child of his own had molded into a much darker version when they’d crossed paths with Duela the girl never shied away from him like most did. His true face seemed to make her excited and his methods overjoyed her. “I know you domy  sweet” he replied knowing that he wanted the start of this party off right and that wasn’t something he could do without Duela by his side. “Of course it did my dear, you played your part to perfection, but now the city is in terror and descended into Chaos now is the time for fun.” he mused before nodding his head as he flipping his coin before catching it “Tails, dear I’ve won this round but I’m feeling generous I’ll let you take the shot.”

        Crane faced the camera, his face hidden behind his mask. It was the first time he had slid it on in what had felt like a lifetime. 365 days is a long time to go without fear. “All that remains is for you to watch as I drag your beloved Gotham into oblivion.” His tone was calm, steady. Malice dripped from the promise as he addressed the Batman. Tonight was his night. Gotham belonged to him and there was nothing Batman or anyone else could do to take that away from him. His plan had been perfectly crafted. Every detail meticulously planned for the execution they were prepared to perform. Everything was in place and all that was left was to head for Arkham. 

         The cameras cut and Jonathan pushed out of his chair, turning around to face the person who had stood behind him. “What are you waiting for?” He asked, walking towards the other. The city was already engulfed in his fear gas. Their next move was to head for the asylum. Breaking the Riddler out was tonight’s big performance. “Tick Tock.” Scarecrow clicked his tongue. “We don’t have time to stand around. The city waits.”

Oh it was good to be free, he’d owed alot to Crane and Duela and he planned on using tonight as his way of thanking them for releasing him from his mental prison. The other rogues were showy and outside of his token two sided suit he preferred more simple approach. Justice at the flip of a coin something he had to admit the other didn’t always like his obsession. He waited until Scarecrow had his fun spreading his message and toxin throughout Gotham the cries of terror now leaking through the walls. “Always one for timetables and schedules is it a crime to stand here enjoying my freedom Scarecrow?” Two-Face chuckled carefully loading his guns and fixing his suit. “I’ve waited a lot longer then you to finally take control of this whimp and I’m going to enjoy every moment of it” He flipped his coin as it landed at tails before shooting the guard they’d tied up. “Guess fate wasn’t on his side today, I’m ready to descend on these people like wolves to a slaughter.”

Two-Face was back in charge as it should always be, Harvey was nothing without him that much was certain. His face no longer reflected his true personality but the night was young. Breaking Ed out was beyond freeing, riding that high Two-Face took to the streets he had a lot of building up to do given how goody two shoes Dent. It didn’t take long to find his first victim as he titled his head still wearing his gas mask. “Fear is such a lovely tool Scarecrow uses but it was never my gig, mine is justice you aren’t affected by the Gas currently so you have a chance at living but then again how many times have you escapes the laws grasp? How fortunate for you, to have run into the path of Two-Face.” He smirked holding up his coin “Heads you live, Tails you die”

His darling daughter, the one he knew would always have his back, if not for her he’d still be locked up within Harvey’s mental prison. Two-Face was proud of their deception but Harvey was beyond disappointed in her but that was to find Harvey was enjoying some time in the prison he’d spent so many years in prior. “Duela, my sweet daughter, Father has a surprise for you” He mused, leading her into a warehouse that held a couple of victims saved from the gases affects“ How long has it been since we’ve had a bonding experience my dear?” He smirked, moving to hand her his gun “Pick darling, Heads or Tails?”

Harvey Dent is Dead, With a flip of a Coin Two-Face has risen from the ashes once again.

Harvey Dent has once again been pushed into the dark space being forced to watch as Two-Face once again took control of his body. Crane with the help of Duela ensured that Harvey stopped taking his medication allowing the voices to come back. During this time he would’ve seemed a bit more tired and agitated as his Two-Face alter slowly started wearing Harvey down. 

Harvey and Two-Face easily figured out that Duela was the one to mess with their pills allowing his crazy to slowly slip back into place. Harvey was very hurt and disappointed to know that she’d betrayed him so horribly while Two-Face was beyond excited to know their Daughter truly loved them at their worst. 

Two-Face is very different then Harvey Dent, he sticks to his coin of fate flipping it to see if his enemies live or die. He isn’t quite happy that Harvey allowed his territory to fall or his crime boss status to be retired so he is back with vengeance. Currently he is part of the four horsemen set to bust Edward out of Arkham so the rogues could have some real fun. 

As for looks Harvey’s face is still fixed, he hasn’t had another accident to disfigure half of his face yet but he still takes to wearing the two colored suits, acts very much like a crime lord rather than a lawyer. He also has his obsession restored with his justice letting fate decide. Don’t call him Harvey either it will end with a bullet wound to the gut, he isn’t Harvey he is Two-Face and he will be mentioned as such.

 ​     “You seriously live in a City like this and the worst thing you think you need to be worrying about is rent?” she rose her brows, perplexed by the other’s statement. Living in Gotham City was like living through a terribly long horror movie in itself but everything was always turned up a notch or two once Halloween finally came around. Everybody seemed to thrive on the chaos and even Emeli couldn’t deny that she felt like she could get away with anything like some kind of pumpkin themed purge. She was different now, though. Better. That part of her life was behind her.

“You asked for a normal worry that is a normal worry Emeli, I never really worried about rent personally given I worked hard to get everything I wanted. Two-Face usually just took what he wanted of course so money isn't really an issue for him either.” He mused honestly looking at the girl it was strange to think most of the rogues had children now, especially when it came to Duela and Emeli as she always seemed a permanent fixture where his daughter was concerned. “It's close to Halloween, are you making plans to do anything?”

Lucy beamed at the words, which she took as a compliment. When she was a little girl, she’d pretended that she was Alice, that Wonderland was a place she and Harley could go to be together – to be safe. “Thank you,” she said. She gave a little gasp and looked up at him. “Oh, come on, you gotta!” she insisted. “It’s Halloween, it’s the best holiday of the year!” She bounced on her toes. “You can be, uh…the March Hare. I’d say you could be the Mad Hatter but Jerv would get mad at me.”

Harvey smiled looking at the other Lucy as such a wonderful person he found that she reflected so much of her mother within her which was a blessing. “You’re welcome dear, just please stay clear of Jervis while dressed like this, I’d hate to start a mini war between him and Harley.” He replied before laughing “Me being the March Hare? Does it have anything to do with the fact I wear Suits and live by a clock?” He teased, still unsure if he would even participate in the holiday given it was Crane’s coming out night and he didn’t feel like being crazy once again.

       “Do you really think you’re free?” Crane asked, eyes darkening as he peered at the other man through his glasses. “That modern medicine will save you from what lies within you even now?” His questions were genuine. Jonathan didn’t understand how Harvey could think that he would be able to hide from what he was forever. Once a Rogue, always a Rogue. You didn’t escape the kind of mental illnesses that consumed the group. Not pills, not plastic surgery, nothing could change that. Two-Face was hiding somewhere in there waiting for an opportunity to show himself and Jonathan would make sure the better half would get the chance to before Halloween.

Harvey took a moment to consider the other’s question, it was his fear of losing his mind to Two-Face again, he had built this life for himself, pulled himself from the hardest of homes and made something of his life instead of just falling into some bad habits. “Modern medicine saves plenty of people, Dr Crane, why should I be any different? To answer your question is no, I’m not silly enough to believe this medicine is a cure all because it isn’t. My time spent in a broken home to my rise within Law enforcement created a sickness within me that can never truly be erased.” He paused looking at the other “But unlike most I’ve never been one to take things lying down, the world is cold and cruel to everyone I have little right to take my pain and anger out on others simply because I can.”

      Donna supposed it had in one way or another but she couldn’t think of a story like it coming out of Gotham, at least not in recent years. “Is that why you don’t want to share yours?” She asked, wondering why he was so against allowing the press to run his story. Letting out a soft laugh, the Amazon shook her head. As easy as it would be to blame everything on a curse that gripped the city, it just wasn’t that easy. “I don’t think it’s a curse.” Donna admitted. “But there is something here that brings out the darker side of people.”

Harvey found that he preferred to stay out of the limelight when possible which he knew was the opposite of his other half but it wasn’t always good to attract attention when he was younger. “Possibly or I’m scared everyone is rooting for me for a second time only to slip back into madness and make everything I’ve rebuilt look like nothing.” He mused honestly it was a thought that was often on his mind, pills would eventually stop working and Two-Face would take control again. “I suppose calling it a curse is a bit of an excuse, either way this place has a way of reflecting your worst parts and glorifying them.”

Jerome pursed his lips, considering. “No, probably not,” he said, thinking of Zatanna. “But, uh, they went the beat Jerome for no reason route instead, so, ya know…” He shrugged. “I did what I had to do. Couldn’t let ‘em just get away with it, now could I? That just didn’t seem right. What goes around comes around.” He shrugged. “Just because he’s dead doesn’t mean he was wrong,” he pointed out. “Galileo figured out the whole Earth revolving around the sun she-bang, he’s been dead for a long time but he’s still right about that.” He gave another little shrug. “Maybe we can toss his kid off the bridge or something,” he said. “The little one, I mean. He’s more, uh…” He mimed a movement like throwing a football. “You know.”  He giggled. “Yeah, have a few drinks, huh? Hey, remember when he had Ed stuck inside a big block of ice in the Iceberg Lounge? That was funny.”

Harvey eyed the male for a moment as he spoke wondering how different the boy could’ve been had he come from a slightly more understanding home yet he understood the beatings and the hatred one felt for those who made them. “You speak of Karma yet I must tell you it’s the world’s revenge to take not yours, Jerome.” He replied honestly before shaking his head “Spoken like a person who’d never met the mad man, to live by his words is truly madness.” He explained looking at the other shaking his head “He wasn’t right about everything and to compare him to Galileo isn’t really a fair match. The Joker isn’t this big loss to Gotham, I assure you Jerome his ideals are not something one should live their life by” Harvey glared at the other “I would pretend I didn’t hear that unless you want a trip to Arkham Jerome I’m more than sure we still have your cell ready. To even think of harming Peter will not end well for you.” He let the lack of thread hang in the air given how much control he’d held back with instead of just taking the male out like how he was sure Jerome wanted. “I bet you loved that huh? Having the smartest man in Gotham stuck within a block of ice is nothing more than a cautionary tale of not to mess with him.”
