hayley marshall. 20/35. hybrid. mother. you were DANCING in your tube socks in our hotel room, flashing those eyes, like highway signs. light one up && hand it over, rest your head upon my shoulder. i just wanna + feel + your lips against my skin. white sheets, bright eyes, crooked teeth && the night life. you told me this is right where it begins. but your lips hang heavy underneath me. and i promised myself i wouldn't let you ✰ complete ✰ me. i'm trying not to let it show, that i don't want to let this go. is there somewhere you can meet me ??

“ getting stuck in a town is one thing, but having kids shoot at me with water guns ? now, that’s a whole different scenario. ” hayley commented with an exasperated smile, looking down at her damp clothes.

“why does being human suck so much?”  shock had a slight g l a r e though not to really anyone in particular ( maybe just the entire fucking universe ) “really, everything about it is just — horrible and gross. not even in a GOOD way.” she took a lollipop out of her pocket and took the wrapper off. “i liked it better when i wasn’t alive.” she said nonchalantly & took a lick of the candy.

“ i wouldn’t know, you tell me. ” hayley couldn’t help but smile at the other. she remembered her upside down life before she triggered her curse, but the truth was --- ever since having hope her existence truly felt more meaningful. “ hey, kid. it’s not all bad. yeah, a lot of it can suck & leave you feeling more vulnerable than you’d like, but i think you’ll make it work. you just have to try your damn hardest. ”

“So … what the hell is there to do around this stupid town that’s actually fun? If I’m going to be stuck here for a while, I don’t just want to sit on my hands and do nothing. I was stuck in SPACE for a while, but there was at least GEMS on my tail the entire time to keep things interesting — here, there’s absolutely nothing.”

hayley listened to what the other had to say, a small scoff leaving her lips at the ridiculousness of it all. she believed anything was possible with the route her life had taken her. have a beautiful miracle baby, turn into a werewolf-vampire hybrid, have crazy things happen on a daily occurrence ? nothing surprised her. “ space guy with a gem tail ? tell me more. ”

(¸.• ♛ → Her eyes were a bit watery now, pulling away a bit, to look at her mom “Yeah but….I can’t believe you are here” Her voice almost broke “I’m not okay, my dad, my uncle elijah….they died as well to destroy the hollow, mom,  everything was on me, I’m very sorry for everything that I did, please forgive me, I never thought all of that was going to happen” She couldn’t help but say that now, looking at the older woman, it was nice to have her here, finally.

“ i know. ” hayley replied with a soft voice, gently squeezing her in a hug before pulling back as well. “ they’re --- what ? no... ” she practically froze at her words, not expecting anything like them. the hybrid had no idea what to do other than gently take hope’s hands in her own. “ look, no matter what happened, none of this is your fault. you don’t need to apologize to me, or to anyone. i’m proud of you, hope --- and even if --- even if they’re gone, they’re still proud of you. never forget that, okay ? your father & uncle love you very much & so do i. ”

(¸.• ♛ → When her mother hugged her, she couldn’t help but also hug her back because all of this was way too emotional here, having her mom here was just perfect “I can’t believe this” Her arms wrapped around her mom, feeling some tears rolling down her cheeks. A small sigh escaped from her lips and the girl just couldn’t help sobbing about all of this, she was so happy to see her “I’ve missed you…”

“ honestly ? neither can i. it’s real & i am just so glad that you’re safe. ” hayley gently ran her hands through hope’s hair, closing her eyes for a minute to simply cherish the moment. she had been so worried about her. especially after everything they had both been put through. “ i’ve missed you too. ”

“I don’t know, I sometimes feel like I will never get used to this place.” Tyler muttered as he took a sip of his drink. It had been a few months since Tyler had been brought to this town and while with time he had managed to settle down, there was often a nagging feeling in the back of his mind, a reminder that he didn’t really belong here – a feeling which stabbed at him from time to time especially when he came across people who were new and as confused as he had been before. “I guess it’ll just never be home, so – whatever.” 

hayley took a deep breath the second that her eyes landed on the familiar face. sure, they had been friends once upon a time but then she betrayed him by getting his pack of hybrids killed & he betrayed her right back by trying to murder hope before she was born. it was safe to say that their relationship was rocky. hayley clenched her fists and dug her nails into her skin. be cool, hayley. “ you sure have a lot of nerve, lockwolf. ”

(¸.• ♛ → “Mom…?” She muttered, now her gaze on the brunette, trying not to freak out about this but she was feeling now her eyes watery a bit, the girl crossed her arms, looking at her “How is this possible? Am I dreaming?” Hope muttered, maybe like that day that she dreamed about her.

“ hope. ” hayley breathed out, running over to wrap her arms around her daughter in a tight embrace. “ you’re not dreaming, i’m really here. i don’t know how, but i’m glad. ” she felt that this was a second chance & whoever it was that granted it had her eternal gratitude.

the dark one watched the other carefully and very slowly nodded. “indeed it is. i’ve been trying to find a way for a while now, and being that i am usually pretty alert with things that have happened or gone on, this time i am not, and that in itself is concerning…” his native scottish language was apparent. “its not so bad here… though being seperated by ones that you… love…is hard…”

hayley sighed. she was the type of person to try & fight for what she believed in or just a way out if there was something blocking the exit. right now, she had no idea what it was that seemed to be blocking her --- which was frustrating to say the very least. “ i have a daughter i need to get back to. she’s strong & beautiful & she can cope without me, but she shouldn’t have to. she’s already lost so much. ”

“i’m told this is colorado,” david said. “all i know is.. people appear.. almost magically here with no clue how they got here,” he sighed. it never got any more normal every time he saw someone new arrive. 

“ colorado ? ” hayley replied with an incredulous look. nothing seemed to be making sense, especially after hearing the man’s words. “ what --- so you’re saying that something or someone is just bringing us here to some town in colorado ? ”

“Hayley?” Did it surprise him to see the mother of his niece alive? No, how could it when he lived in a world where the dead never truly stayed dead. He was a prime example of that, dying twice only to be resurrected both times. 

“ kol. ” hayley let out a sigh of relief upon seeing a familiar face. even if they never really talked that much, he was hope’s uncle & that made him family. “ got any ideas on how we ended up here ? ”

“ right. ” hayley had no idea how any of it even happened. she wasn’t even meant to be alive let alone in colorado of all places. “ i’m guessing that nobody knows a way out ? ”

“well dearie, it seems you to have wandered into the unknown. this place is different to any other place. it isn’t… normal…” his voice was calm, and hood was up, covering his face. “and apparently, there isn’t a way out, either…”

hayley turned & focused her gaze on the hooded man, crossing her arms. “ you have got to be kidding me. ” the hybrid shook her head for a moment, not knowing why she was talking to someone so mysterious. it didn’t seem to surprise her, though. “ so, we’re in the unknown with no way out ? got it, thanks. ”
