Survival Mode: Task 005
Exhaling a gentle breath, the witch shook her head lightly. “Not entirely,” she replied, trying to decide how to word the next part. “There’s something about you… that I’m drawn to,” she paused. Seth and her hadn’t really spoken about what they were, now that so much had changed. And while a part of her was telling her to hold back until the two of them did talk about it, she just couldn’t put it off. “I’ve never been able to truly connect with many people, especially in death, but you… I see this light in your soul, and I like it.”
Eyebrows raising further at her response, Alec’s smile waned. To say he was uneasy about her admission would have been an understatement--considering what had happened the last time he had allowed himself to feel for another woman. Swallowing a small lump in his throat, he willed himself to smile once more. “A light? Are you sure about that?”

Alec’s apology had caught Ria off-guard. She wasn’t particularly used to interacting with spirits who actually had a conscience, or who took the time to right their wrongs. Though in this case, the witch knew he never truly meant to cause her harm. What happened to him was peculiar, and she couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was that set him off originally. The house? Another ghost? Something else? Regardless, she was never one to turn her back on, well, anyone. “It’s alright, I’ve endured far worse. This kind of stuff is a given in, uh… this house.” A weak smile lifted the corners of her lips as she tried to lighten the mood of the moment. “Forgive yourself for what happened, because I’ve already done so.”
Feeling the weight of his guilt ease off his shoulders slightly, Alec finally looked up to meet Ria's gaze. He had fought his PTSD so often that when he lost, he blamed himself for being weak. Smile lightening his features, if only lightly, the ghost's eyebrow raised. "Was that the only reason you've been thinking about me?" He asked, attempting to change the mood of their little encounter.
“I can’t stop thinking about you.” ~ Ria
Eyes unable to meet hers, Alec ran his good hand through his hair. He hadn’t allowed himself to be seen since the night he had attacked Ria. Everything was starting to get too complicated for him once more. He had even considered going back into hiding. “Ria...I’m sorry,” Alec said, sincerely. “I can’t get what happened out of my head. I never meant to hurt you.”
Stumbling along with the other ghost as he hauled her through the house and into the basement, Ria shot glances around her surroundings to ward off anyone who happened to stumble upon them – warning them to just mind their own. Once downstairs, however, the raven haired spirit attempted to retract from his grip. “You need to let go of me, right now.” Her tone dropped to a more serious one as her somber hues latched onto his. She never did like the basement, it was crawling with the vermin of the house, and the fact that he had taken her there left her on edge.
Alec’s hand only seemed to grip harder onto the other woman as she tried to move herself away. “Answer me woman. Where are my men?” His voice was forceful, angry. In his current state of mind he couldn’t understand why he couldn’t find his men. They should’ve been there. As a matter of fact where was he even at? “What did you do?” His head began to hurt--causing him to let of her arm and bring his hand to his head.
Grimacing as Alec shoved her against the wall, the witch squinted at him when he continued – though now, she was thankful his hand was off of her neck. She liked Alec, there was something about him that drew her, a magnet-like force that told her he was meant to be in her afterlife for one reason or another, therefore she didn’t want to go to the extremes of hurting him to spare herself. Not just yet. “By all means, take me to them,” she tested, unsure of what she’d be getting herself into.
Patience wearing thin, Alec gripped her arm, his mouth forming a sneer. “Fine, but don’t blame me if they kill you,” he growled. Looking around he had to get his bearings. This place didn’t seem like the usual barracks that the military had assigned his team but he was always up for something different. Dragging her into the house and down into the basement, Alec searched for the men that were known to do the interrogations. Where could they have been? Unless...unless the terrorists had gotten a hold of them before he was able to acquire the woman. “What did you do with my men?” Alec demanded, his fingers gripping Ria’s flesh.
As cautious as Ria had been, she certainly wasn’t expecting the other spirit to knock her to the ground. She hit with a hard thud, eyes shutting for a brief moment as she awaited the tingling pain to fade. Upon reopening them, however, she was unable to hide the shock, the fear that resided deep within her icy hues. It was right then and there that she’d realized she didn’t know as much about Alec as she’d hoped to, and the situation at hand was very fragile. At least for someone in her position. “Alec,” she exhaled, eyes widely set up at him. Part of her hoped that the utter of his name would at least bring him back from where he was, even a little bit, though something was telling her it would take much, much more.
His name floated through his head, and suddenly the ghost was confused. How did this native know his name? Scowling, he picked her up off the ground and slammed her against the wall--his good hand moving to the woman’s shoulder so that it would be easier to make her talk. Hard eyes stared at the dark haired female, Alec’s mouth turned to a grim line. “Tell me now or I’ll have to hand you over to an interrogation team. We know you’re a radical, now just talk.”
While the Fourth of July had passed it never failed to leave the tortured spirit in a mess. The fireworks reminded him of distant gun play, not to mention the flashbacks to missiles screaming around him thanks to the people who shot off the “screamer” versions. Typically the ghost would go into hiding so he could suffer in silence but he had lost track of the days and now he was too raw. His past tortures and kills ravaged his mind’s eye. Staring out into the distance, Alec sat on the back porch–his focus torn from keeping his appearance so that his glamour was faded, exposing the burnt flesh from his death.
A peculiar feeling had hit Ria as she stepped down the stairs and into the foyer, and whatever it was, had something within her gut tugging her toward the back porch. Turning into the hall, the black haired spirit wandered until she found herself at the back door, and from there, she wasted no time in opening it. She had really become a face your fears kinda girl over the past few years in the Murder House, and though the vibes were off putting, she proceeded on. It wasn’t until her attention was taken by a mangled familiar face that the witch froze in her spot – ice blue hues wide with mostly shock. Slowly, she moved forward, her steps like molasses as she approached to get a better look, but cautiously so. While there were things about Alec that she wasn’t aware of, that didn’t stop her from pausing just a few feet away from him, for the time being trusting that he wasn’t too far gone for her to make contact with him. But she didn’t want to startle him, so she remained quiet, awaiting her presence to register in his mind.
It took a few seconds for Alec’s mind to register there was someone else standing close to him--unfortunately for Ria, his mind was still far off in the desert of Iraq. Ghosting to tackle her down, the spirit's hand clenched around her throat. "Where's the bomb?" He demanded, his mangled face twisted in an angry glare. His memories were swimming in and out of clarity and all he could do was force the information out of the native. "Tell me and you won't die."

Can’t really say I blame her, I guess.
Who, uh… you alright?
Alec turned to look at the unfamiliar voice. Lips twitching up slowly, he nodded. "I'm fine. Just thinking out loud."
Well at least…every time I run into you.
“You’re not mistaken,” the witch offered a small smile. “I am a very questionable person.”
A ghost of a smile lifted the corners of Alec's lips. It had been a while that he had felt amused by something. "Is it that you like to cause questions or are you trying to play mysterious?"
Can’t really say I blame her, I guess.
On his way to the kitchen, Alec noticed a small form laying in the couch. Concern for her well being, the male paused and softly shook her. "You probably don't want to be sleeping out here," he said softly, hoping to wake her.
Is that so?
Well at least...every time I run into you.
Hearing Alec’s words she felt her heart ache for him. The ache spread through her chest and she pressed against him. “Are you going to leave me?” Bailey asked and it was almost muffled by how close she was pressed to him. Her voice was barely there as she mustered the courage to even say that out loud. She was surprised that it was even her voice saying that.
Her question left Alec feeling miserable deep inside. While he knew he couldn't be with her--he never thought he could leave her all alone. "I'll always be here for you." That was a better answer than the answer she wanted to know.
Depends what you class are doing?
...I'm sorry?
