He’s not kidding and he knows it. He thought similarly at one point; where as this man thinks everything is pointless, he thought life deserved hatred. Anger. And what happened because of it? His mother fell into a coma.
He’s learned that if there was no effort to preserve safety, if anger purely controlled actions, that things go south. To combat this, people fight for good. It’s back and forth, but about more than half the time, good prevails. So he’s not believing this ‘truth’. He’s already found it on his own.
“Dumbass, if you view the world like that, everything will become chaos. You’re thinking ‘oh, life is soooo pointless, let me just ruin society more by choice to prove it!’ Maybe if you just stop causing the chaos to begin with and let me do my damn job, then life would be more safe. Thinking like that isn’t just villainous, but it’s also cowardly.”
He didn’t seem phased by what this boy said. Children were always naive, always so used to clinging what they wanted to believe. This boy did not understand the truth, he was pushing it away, clinging to the falsehoods that enveloped this world.
“I do not need to ruin society when all of you are already doing a fine job of it.”
“I became trapped by the illusion of comfort, of that things could be eternal; but what became of my complacency? Only suffering, in the end. You think that my point of views are a lie, but tell me; in 100 years will anything we have done mattered? Will you so-called heroes still be around?
We cannot become complacent in the lies of this world, and there is but one way to free ourselves from such a state of falsehoods.”
This boy will wake up one day, just as he did. But Tome will not fight this boy, not unless the boy tried to start a fight first.
For would not resorting to violence only prove himself right?
“Well of course things aren’t eternal. Things change, and that’s just part of life. And immortality is kinda boring, in all honesty. But it doesn’t mean that life is pointless. Just means we should be focused on what we have now, so when it does end, we have good memories to think back on.”
“And how the hell are heroes ruining society? We’re literally saving people’s lives from dying from villains. People get to live longer lives thanks to us. As for heroes being around in the future, I don’t know. Maybe one day we won’t be needed, or maybe the opposite. I don’t focus on the future that much, and even when I do, it’s not for 100 years from now.”
Shiko cracked his knuckles silently, a shadow looming over his face. Now that the talking’s over, it’s time to take care of this person who stopped everything around them.
“Now, you said this was your quirk, meaning you’re interfering with hero work and might possibly be the one who started this chaos. You can either come quietly or I will not hesitate to kick your ass.”

Chaos broke out, and he had come to put an end it to it. However, that man kept staring at him from a distance, looking from the corner of his eye as he got people out of harm’s way, and it was distracting him a bit, honestly.
It was…unsettling to him.
So you can imagine his shock as things quickly became frozen, people’s faces stuck in fright or anger. His head quickly turned to the voice, the only sound left, and it was that man that stared at him.
“What the hell are you going on about, man? What truth of the world? And why the fuck is everything frozen but you and me!?”
“The only truth that matters, young man.”
Yes, the boy was unsettled. Was it not strange to see everything freeze as it was? Perfectly preserved, like a photograph taken at just the right time. But this boy was indeed unaware of the harshest and most important truth.
Tome would certainly tell him.
“That eternity, that everything, is a lie. Look around you - safety, comfort, humanity. I have preserved this scene with my Quirk, but soon even this will end. Will you savor this sight? This fleeting moment of the greatest lie of all?”
