No Turning Back

There was no way she could show her happiness. There was no way she could even feel it. Sophia was too exhausted for that and figured she would have enough opportunity to show her appreciation later. It was her fault, she shouldn’t have ran away and stayed where she was like Rick told her to do. Instead of running back to the highway she went the complete opposite way and got terribly lost. Or at least that was how she remembered the situation.
She took big sips of the water, too bit and too fast, which made he spit out half of the substance. It didn’t seem to matter though because Rick lifted her up and carried her back to where the others were waiting for them.
Rick continued to give the small girl water, just happy to have found her. For a while there he thought after the first forty eight hours, he’d be too late. Sooner or later a walker would have turned up and gotten her. That was what he had thought. he hadn’t wanted to believe that. He wanted to believe in a better outcome, so he held out to hope.
“You’re safe now. I’m taking you to your mom.” Which is what he did, he returned the small girl back to Carol as soon as he touched down at the farm. he brought the girl back to her crying tear ridden mother who looked overjoyed at being reuinted with her child. This time the story had a happy ending.
