Well, we are not associated in anything but name to the original Dashcon people, but speaking balls, that ball pit will make a lovely center piece at our convention.

Hello all!  Well, we aren’t dead, and after our team got pummeled by life for a month, we have all returned to give out some news! We have some good news and some bad news, and so to start, we’ll give the bad news first so we can end on a high note.
So to begin, unfortunately we will not be able to host Dashcon in a physical location this year. :(Â
We know you were all terribly excited to meet up in person, cosplay and geek out over all your favorite fandoms from this year; but unfortunately, our funding ran out, and we’ve had to make do with creating an online forum for our meet up. This decision comes hard for us here at Dashcon 2017, since we’ve put our blood, sweat, and tears into this project to try and make it perfect for all you guys who were so disappointed by the first Dashcon. However, there are still some artifacts from during the planning process we’d like to share, and that’s mainly what our good news is for this update!
So for the second bit of news, it is my pleasure to announce the designs for the armbands for our upcoming convention!Â
While we may not be having the convention in a convention center anymore, there were some print outs to try and get a feel for what we wanted for armbands to help convention goers to find each other in the convention hall. We will post the picture in the post, as well as a separate post just to cover bases. :)
We here at Dashcon2017 hope that this update was informative and we hope to see you guys at Dashcon2017 this year! We here at DashCon2017 apologize profusely for the blatant lies we told about how we would be hosting our convention at McCormick Place in Chicago. We will not actually be hosting it at McCormick Place in Chicago. This is also why we have deleted the original post announcing where we were at.
As I’m sure you’ve guessed by this point, DashCon2017 does not actually exist. We will still be updating this blog as the time approaches the date we originally set up for our pretend convention, since we have put a surprising amount of effort into planning some of ruses we would be pulling to make this look more legit. However, there will not be any convention taking place at any convention center. At this point, feel free to meme it up in the comments, since that was part of the original goal for those who figured out we were fake after we posted the pictures we had planned.Â
Anyways, we here at DashCon2017, hope that you enjoy today, and look forward to more updates as they happen! (we also wouldn’t mind some shilling as a parody account, because we DID put in a ridiculous amount of work on some of the updates we have planned)

I mean, that’s up to you. We’d be down to watching people still gather in Chicago and sending us vlogs about it. And we’ve got a discord channel now for when the convention comes around so we can celebrate DashCon2017 in a way that allows for anyone to come, not just those who are willing to spend the money on a trip to Chicago.
But yes, feel free to visit the fossil museum in Chicago again, there just won’t be the physical convention excuse anymore.
(Also, feel free to drop by the discord drunk af, since it sounded like you would enjoy a night of partying. ;) )
Update: FAQ Edition
Hello everyone!
We know we’ve been kind of quiet the last day or two since our big announcement, but since then we’ve been hard at work pulling a little something together that you all might enjoy!
As we mentioned in the update to our FAQ section on the blog, we are planning on hosting a Discord channel during the convention days, so that those unable to attend in person can gather together on a chat/voice client so as to not miss out. Well, Mod Tumblr was a bit disheartened that the big announcement went out so early, so she decided to spend some time and get the server up a month early! (For those who don’t know what discord is, think Skype and Facebook Messenger combined into one, but with no face chat. You only need an email to sign up, so that’s a plus!)

Forgive us, we have failed you spectacularly. :( However, we do still plan on finding the original ball pit, and if you want to wallow in pee, we will happily skip out on cleaning duty for you to do so. ;)

There will be no physical meetup for Dashcon2017, no. We are, however, open to hosting a discord channel on the days that we planned the con, and having a hang out for all interested parties. ^_^Â

Unfortunately, we will be operating at a dry convention center, so that would not be allowed. However, feel free to bring lots of water and energy drinks! We know it is incredibly short notice to be bringing artists for booths into the loop, but this was the soonest we could contact people. We hope you take this opportunity into consideration, and if you can’t do it, we understand completely.

Oh no, it’s entirely alright! We’ve been keeping a lid on this for a very long time now, to make sure that all the details could be in place before asking people on board.Â
However, we are finally ready to fill in the final little bits and pieces, and thus, we’re reaching out to artists here on Tumblr to see if any would be willing to do some art booths! I know it’s incredibly short notice, and if you are unable to attend we completely understand.
