30 Days of Gamera Day #24: Which unmade Gamera project would you most like to have seen? I was tempted to say Gamera vs. The Ice Men just because of how bonkers it sounded, but I so adore the two projects that did eventually come out of it (Gamera vs. Barugon and Daimajin) that I can live without it. Instead, I’m plumping for the easy option and going for Gamera vs. Garasharp. To be frank, the story itself sounds very much like something of a retread of Gamera vs. Jiger, but I really like Garasharp’s design, and I would love to have seen how Daiei’s staff brought her to life. Gamera’s never really fought a serpentine kaiju, let alone one that physically dwarfs him (in the Showa series, at least), so it would’ve been a very visually interesting fight, if nothing else. Would Gamera vs. Garasharp have saved the series? Probably not, to be honest, but it wouldn’t been nice to see it regardless. Plus, who wouldn’t want to see the sheer and utter madness incarnate that is Marukobukarappa brought to life?
