there is something in the air today that he’s not particularly fond of — read: he’s in a bad mood today, but taohan being taohan, he’s not going to blame it on his lack of sleep, on his casual social media drama or the fact that he has to do laundry today — nope, today is just a bad day and there’s something in the air, in the circumstances or whatever else that has caused this. not him, never him.
he reckons this is the one pet peeve of his mother, his inability to accept that certain things happened because he allowed them, that certain things happen because he causes them. in small words, he does not know the concept of accepting responsibility for his acts, but it’s not something that particularly keeps him up at night, at all.
but at least he can be a responsible adult for once and do his laundry, right? so he thinks until he walks into the room, the grip on his basket becoming tighter, almost painful. seriously, world? of all days? of all hours? of all minutes and seconds? of course he has to find yeona here; and good god he wishes yeona was simply someone he’s not fond of for whatever reason: maybe because she’s a noisy neighbor or something else. but no, this is way deeper than a simple problem between them, this is about their past, the one he’s tried so hard to forget, to leave behind, to not even think about it, but alas, it’s not something he’s accomplished successfully quite yet.
he looks at her for a long, very long minute, wonders if he should say something or if maybe it’s best to turn around, walk away, pretend this never happened. but how pathetic would that be? no, he can’t do that, his pride wouldn’t allow him to. so he walks in, nods at her politely and keeps walking over to the one machine that is far away from the one she’s using. he pretends like he’s not looking or paying attention or doesn’t care, but he wonders if she buys that.
he takes a different approach then.
“it’s hot today.” it’s pathetic and unnecessary. why initiate a conversation with her? just to try to prove he’s no longer upset and heartbroken about what happened? that he can’t quite get over getting dumped years ago? how pathetic! “or something. weather’s just... annoying today, i don’t know.”
of course he’s been aware that she moved in to the same building as he did, but he tried to pretend that wasn’t the case, sneaking around to make sure he wouldn’t cross paths with her, but here he is.
ah, of all days, why did he decide to do laundry today? fuck.
