“Well, I think this is an absolutely lovely appetizer, so I hope your head chef thinks so too!”  She beamed widely at the other.  “I’m gonna be dreaming about these now, I don’t think I’ve ever tasted anything quite like this.”

“Dreaming of my food, you say?” Andy chirps, unable to hold back a goofy grin as he chuckles a bit uncontrollably. “Gee whiz... I must be doing something right.” He chides, canting his head to the side with a lingering crooked smile. “There’s more in my kitchen, if you’d like to take some home?”

“Thanks,that’s really sweet of you,not a lot of people would do that.”She commented with a small smile,her eyes on the view in front of the two.”Well,cupcakes always fill up the void inside of me. They truly are magical.”

Hearing that there’s a void within her, Andy’s interest and concern is piqued in the slightest. “What makes you say something like that, miss Lara?” He gently nudges her arm with his elbow. “Feeling down, these days? Enlighten me...”

“I love balsamic vinaigrette….” Star’s eyes lit up, nodding a little excitedly.  “God that sounds absolutely perfect - and honestly I.m tasting that kick now, I don’t think I really understand how ginger works.  Are you making these for an event?”

“You and me both!” He chides. “N-No, not an event, but... the head chef at my job wanted me to put together something new for our appetizer menu, so, I... I tried something new.” Andy nods, unable to hold back a victorious little grin, pleased with her reaction.

Most days, Ramona was lucky enough to scarf down a peanut butter sandwich before she was on the move, more important things to attend to elsewhere. She often wondered why she even still paid rent in this building, normally sleeping in a sleeping bag in her office while a snoozing teen took the couch or curled up next to her. Needless to say, the after school program was her life, and it was always on her mind, even if she needed to be paying attention to something else. However, as the male stopped her in the hallway, she all but scowled down at the food in front of her. It looked much to fancy for her to eat, her old overalls and white t-shirt setting her apart from anything that could be considered ‘gourmet’. “I’m…not sure if I’m the correct person to be giving my opinion,” she chuckled, watching him intently. “Though, they do sound absolutely delicious.”

Canting his head a bit to the side, Andy chuckles softly. “Ah, c’mon. I promise you won’t hurt my feelings.” Holding out the plate to offer once more, coaxing a bit, there’s a glint in those chocolate hues of his. “Nonsense - any opinion is much appreciated!”

I thought that was just a temporary trend like most of the things in this city. But congrats on your promotion!”Lara added with a small laugh,her hands on her lap.”I don’t know to be honest,this is a routine by now.”

“You won’t owe a thing. Promise.” He says reassuringly, a hint of a crooked grin playing upon plush lips. “Besides, it’s just kinda’ my thing to do things for the heck of it. I don’t ever expect things in return.” A small huff of a laugh. “Y-Yeah, ‘course it is. It’s a culinary staple.”

“What can I say I like basil.” He shrugged and shook his head. “Nah you’d be fine, they’re really good, very powerful as it is” He added as he eyed the plate “Can I take another..you know for science to make sure my assesment is right.”

“Fresh basil is a staple, so I can’t fault you.” He grins. As the other eyes the plate, he blinks down at it as well. “O-Oh, of course! Go right ahead.” Andy holds it out. “I’ve got more in the kitchen, if you’re interested. It’s easy enough to make. I just... needed to try my hand at it, first. See what worked. What didn’t.”

livia startled, balancing on one foot as she was about to descend the stairs – phone in one hand and victoria shouting at her down the line. she’d been yelling for about fifteen minutes now and had not stopped to breathe or notice that livvy was most definitely not paying attention. leaving the phone on, she shoved it into her bag, muffling the sound of her boss as she turned to face the other who had caught her attention. she could never turn down the chance at trying something to eat. “i have no idea what any of what you just said means,” she deadpanned as she took one from the plate observing it closely. she sniffed it before popping it into her mouth. she’d read somewhere that you eat with all your senses. livia felt that maybe she shouldn’t have smelt it so close – she may have inhaled some kind of spice. her nose tingled a little causing her to scrunch it up. “can you tell me what this is in like – the most simplest of terms? what is a blini? i know what a bellini is – that’s a drink and i am very familiar with my cocktails.” livia hummed as she finished chewing. it was delicious, whatever it was.

Unable to help but to chuckle softly at her words, he shakes his head. “No, no. This is far from a bellini, Miss Livia.” Offering a kind smile, he cants his head to the side, watching closely as she pops the piece into her mouth and awaiting a reaction. “Blini is... w-well, in simple terms, it’s like, a pancake.” He nods. “How is it? Good, I take it, from the humming you’re doing.” Holding out the plate, he offers her the last one. “Here.”

“I do think so, you’re pretty talented,” she responded, taking another from the plate. “You’re going to make me addicted to these and then I’ll have to make you deliver them weekly,” she joked. “You’re a chef?” she asked. “They’re really good, he’d have to be a fool not to like them.”

“Ah - thank you, kindly.” He chuckles, watching her take the last from the plate with a crooked grin etched to his features. “Oh, I wouldn’t mind that, at all.” He muses. “That, I am!” Andy nods curtly. “W-Well, I... I’m glad you think so highly of such a simple dish! I was hoping it’d be a refreshing, sweet and savory little appetizer. Just needed a second opinion, really.”

axel nodded as he listened to andy talk about what was frustrating him and reached over to pat his shoulder. “yeah you really need to relax a little bit.” he smiled softly. “i mean, i’ve seen how mean head chefs can be on the cook and that whole environment just looks mess so it takes a lot of strenght to deal with it. your bosses are picky eaters? that shouldn’t even happen.” he frowned.

“I am relaxed...” He mumbles. “Honest.” A brief pause as Andy sucks in a sharp breath. “W-Well, it’s not so simple. Everyone wanted my position, before I was promoted, and... the competition at the hotel restaurant is... toxic. To say the least. Yeah, the higher ups are quite picky. I mean, that’s to be expected when you work at a five star hotel, though, isn’t it?” Andy directs his gaze from the man, to the toddler in his arms, reaching out to tuck a stray strand of hair behind the small girl’s ear with delicacy. “No worries, though.” He muses, glancing back up at Axel with a crooked smile. “I’ve got it handled... I-I think.”

juniper’s lips press together in a tight lipped smile when andy speaks again, nodding her head awkwardly. her brows knit together tightly at his question, an unexpected one to say the least, before she finally flashes him a confused look. “uh, yeah of course i have. it’s hard not to with river’s cooking. uh, why do you ask?” her answer and question coming out more rambly than intended.

“Just... wondering, is all.” His meek, airy voice wavers as he attempts to keep that grin plastered to his face, though it begins to falter as he internally scolds himself for even inquiring. Of course she’s eaten, she lives with a celebrity chef for Christ’s sake, he thinks to himself as his hues wander off, brow creasing in the slightest for a moment. “U-Uh...” Andy attempts to move on, combing nimble fingers through his dark tresses. “Are you enjoying your tulips...?” His voice cracks. “I thought they’d look awfully nice and, um, brighten the place. I have a few in the kitchen, myself. I-I’m thinking sunflowers, next week. Hydrangeas, maybe?” He chides.

With a small sigh,Lara shook her head and showed him a small smile.”Thank you really but I’m not one to ask people for stuff,it always comes back to bite me in the ass.” If there was something she avoided as much as she could was asking people for anything,she didn’t like to owe anything to anyone.”Is that a regular thing for you?Like do you usually have issues falling asleep?”

“Then... don’t ask. I’ll just have to provide, one of these days.” He stifles a bit of a laugh, glancing over at the woman seated at his side briefly before directing his gaze back to the cityscape shrouded in night. With a gentle sigh escaping him, he leans back on both palms. “Uh... sometimes. Not usually. Most nights, when I work late, I end up crashing, but... I tend to work brunch hours. Not used to it, since my promotion.” A pause. “What about you, huh? What’s got you up, this late?”

Her daily smoke break now finished up on the roof, Starling started to descend back to her apartment as Andy’s voice stopped her.  Dark eyes lighting up, she nodded eagerly.  “I am always happy to do a taste test,” she reassured the other, chewing slowly and thoughtfully.  “Hmm….. I don’t know what spelt is, but I think maybe something with another…. what’s the word.  Savory note?  I feel like the cherries make it taste a little desserty.  Unless that’s what you were going for?”

He chuckles lightly as he observes her thoughtful expressions while chewing, offering a kind smile that showcases his pearly whites. “It’s meant to be sweet and savory. Though, ginger spiced cherries aren’t all too sweet when you pair them with a less sweet palette.” He muses. “In fact, it should have a bit of a KICK to it in the after taste once that sweetness wears off. I’m thinking a nice balsamic vinaigrette would tie it all together quite nicely.”

Val was just on his way home from a long day at rehersals, and a little over time spent there at Odie’s request, when he heard someone calling out. “What’s this, I thought you only got free samples of things at Costco” He joked lightly as he looked down at the plate. “So it’s Spelt Blini…but not at all” He chuckled and picked one up, examining it a little before popping it into his mouth and slowly chewing. “It’s good. Maybe something fresh tasting like…basil or parsley?” He shrugged “I don’t know much about cooking, but I know about eating”

“Basil?” He says with his mouth still full, glancing down at the plate. “You think it needs more basil?” Andy muses, tilting his head a bit. “I guess I could add more. Just didn’t wanna’ overpower the spiced cherries.”

“thank you pwince!” athena smiled widely at him while hugging his leg happily. “mmhm then who’s the one who has to hear that his food sucks? this guys.” axel joked while pointing to himself. he picked athena up and shrugged. “oh you know, same old same. i’m currently working on a really nice collection of plates and bowls for this client. nothing too stressful. you on the other hand, seem quite stressful” he chuckled.

“You’re VERY welcome, princess.” Andy chides, giving the small girl a pat on the head as she clings to his leg, quite used to it. Directing his attention back to Axel, he sighs softly. “W-Well, I wouldn’t say it sucks...” He attempts to lighten the other’s comment with a stifled laugh. But, upon having his stress level pointed out, his shoulders slouch a bit momentarily. “I... uh... yeah, I’m just a bit busy. Y’know? I’ve got the head chef breathing down my neck, and... I’m trying to come up with all kinds of new ideas for the appetizer menu. Quite frustrating when your bosses are picky eaters.” He rolls his eyes.

she feels like she can feel his gaze on her, and it makes her a little more nervous than she’d like to admit. opening her mailbox was never a challenge, and she was sure she could do it if she hadn’t had the grand idea of starting a conversation. “yeah, i know what you mean. parties and big social events aren’t my thing either. never have been,” juniper said with a shrug. she practically freezes in position when he moves his hand over hers, keeping her eyes locked with his movements as if eye contact would be fatal. “uh, thanks, you d-didn’t have to. but, uh, i appreciate it.”

Gracefully folding his hands behind his back, his gaze wanders to his chelsea boots, gently clearing his throat. That little stutter she does, tripping over her words, it causes his heart to flutter, soon fumbling over his own words and struggling to form sentences, himself. “N-No worries...” The corners of his lips twitch upward, still avoiding solid eye contact as he sucks in a sharp breath. “SO... have you eaten, today?” Andy attempts to speak up, that tone of his still light, calm and airy as always.

“why not? because then you’d blush even more with all the hot firefighters? i get it.” zoe laughed and shook her head fondly. “hey it’s fine, this is cute. at least you own up to your feelings and that’s very good.” she hummed.

“W-Wha... no! I would NOT.” He protests, face burning. “Are all firefighters considered attractive, even? Is that a thing?” Andy murmurs, glancing down as he clasps his hands together, twiddling his thumbs at the thought.
