So uh Me and my friends wrote Of Mice and men fluff where lennie is upset bc they've started serving rabbit stew at the ranch and George comforts him, we're planning to make kinda kinky later. The Geonnie fandom exists.
omg! that sound.. really good plot tbh.
yeah you should definitely submit that B))
curley's actor totally did not star in a film playing a wimpy highschool nerd kid in a movie called three o'clock high shhhhhhhhh ((this isnt evn a question im jus tellin u this for a laugh m8 to ruin curley's reputation))
high school au
i suggest a little sign-up sheet for th OMAM fandom >:D just to see what you guys would come up with xD what are the requirements? ??
you must accept slim as your lord saviour
Sorry if this is weird or something, but what do you think the characters would be like in a modern-day au? What do you think would have happened instead?
well i guess it would be totally different. id like to believe curleys wife wouldnt be married to curley and maybe doing drama lessons.
george and lennie would be living happy lives together with proper education and care about people with conditions like lennies.
crooks, a thoughtful and well educated man would have a good, well paid job (maybe a journalist?)
slim is still prince of the ranch somewhere
candy might be retired and living happily. maybe he lives in the same street as george and lennie and they are kind neighbours
and curley would probably be some boxer while his father's in jail for treating his employees badly.
How old do you think everyone was in the book/movie? Can just be a range, doesn't have to be specific!
hmmmm man i cant remember if any were given a certain age (i dont think so) but i do have reasons to think they are:
slim: we have no clues as to his age. in his introduction hes described to be ageless, so i guess he could be any age. 20-40
curleys wife: shes only about 16 since in that time women married very young and she lived with her mother only weeks before this, who was very protective of her daughter running away with men making movies.
curley/george/lennie: id say all somewhere around 20s but that’s a pure guess
candy: around 60s? maybe younger
crooks: late 30s/40s id say.
omg I love your blog and sorry I've been creeping
well hey there
Do you think Curley's Wife would have left him had she not gotten killed?
i think she wanted to leave him, but because of the status of women at that time couldnt - she said it even. she hated curley and was waiting to be swept away by the “guy”. if she had left by herself she would be completely isolated from society and been left for dead on the streets. personally i think steinbeck was commenting on the sadly low class women were held during the time and many argue she is the loneliest character in the book for this reason. when she did die she was finally at peace from her longing to escape her life.
Omg! I love this blog. Where is the fandom at, though?
its hard at work on the ranch
Thank you so much for this blog! I love this book and the movie adaptation was great. I have a lot of feelings about the characters (George and Curley's wife in particular) and nobody else who I talk to seems to be as enthralled by these characters as I do! So THANK YOU!
yess!!!! thanks!!! i love the depth of characters, they all represent oppressed groups and its all very good very good indeed
who are your favourite and least favourite characters in OMAM?
well mine is slim and admin curleys is..curley i think? (admin curley might edit this)
but i love all the characters especially curleys wife
I'm looking at joining the fandom but don't know how old everyone else is, how old are you?
we're both 16 ‘u‘
make a thing for curled wife
wife: curled
“No,” said Feels. “No, Pepe. I ain’t mad. I never been mad, an’ I ain’t now. That’s a thing I want ya to know.” The voices came close now. Feels raised the gun and listened to the voices.
Pepe begged, “Le’s do it now. Le’s get that place now.”
”Sure, right now. I gotta. We gotta.” And Feels raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the muzzle of it close to the back of Pepe’s head. The hand shook violently, but his face set and his hand steadied. He pulled the trigger.
I cannot fucking believe that I am actually seeing the ending of Of Mice and Men replaced with fucking Feels Guy and Pepe jesus christ
One masterpiece after another
Right so Gary Sinese directed the Of Mice and Men film?? Was his thought process basically just "Hmm, who is talented enough to be the main character? Hmm, I know. Me."
Oh my, I didn’t even notice that at first! I didn’t look in too much to the directors of the film, but my oh my that’s unexpected. But even if he was the director, I personally think he fit the role of George extremely well. In my opinion, he played out the role with perfection - the emotion, the expressions, everything. But yup, that was probably his thought process.
The Character: Candy
The gossip known as Candy is portrayed as a rather old man who likes someone to talk to. Candy’s dog show’s his dependence and loneliness, as when it is put down by Carlson, Candy is desolate. The way the dog is put down show’s Candy’s greatest fear. Candy is afraid of being canned and disposed of when he is no longer able to do any work, just like his dog was. Candy is a big gossip, and he is so because he is sees it as a way to become friendly with others – he is lonely just like all ranch workers. Steinbeck uses Candy as a way to show the discrimination towards the aged and the handicapped.
Candy desperately involves himself in Lennie and George’s dream. He instantly sees an opportunity for him to have a better life and he tries to grab it – however that opportunity is lost when Curley’s wife is killed. Although, because of Candy the dream almost became a reality for both him and George.
“The door opened and a tall, stoop-shouldered old man came in. He was dressed in blue jeans and he carried a big push-broom in his left hand.”
