"There are, in a lot of games... Trainers, items that give skill boosts, that kind of thing. But with realism being such an... Important aspect of gameplay in this situation, they really make you work for it. Which isn't very convenient, considering the setting can make encounters few and far in-between."

She looked on with accepted resignation. It didn't really affect her whether he found out or not-- other than the possibility arising of him prodding further into the issue, knowing of the personal significance, but that was a hurdle she would face when it became necessary.

It didn’t make much more sense after Nanami explained herself. It was just so…selfless. She paid no regard to her own safety for the sake of others. If she was scared, she didn’t show it, nor did she seem to care. She refused to back down just because everything was hopeless. Nanami Chiaki was brave, selfless, strong…nothing like Leon.

It was almost infuriating. How the hell was he supposed to understand someone like that? How could he do anything but envy her.

“So…” He glanced out the corner of his eye. No need to look the gamer straight on, haha, right? “How…how can you do that…?”

His avoidance to meet her gaze straight on didn't go unnoticed. Had she caused him some level of discomfort? Nanami was sure on a role of alienating others. Her face didn't betray the inner-workings of her mind, however-- her expression remained stoic, neutral in the presence of disbelief.

"Baby steps. Careful planning. Brute force isn't an option for me... I have to use my wits. If I find someone that needs help, I help them in whatever way possible. If I run into someone causing trouble, I calculate a counter-attack. ... Not-- a literal attack, necessarily  but... Do you know what I mean? I take it day by day."

"I know, I know... Speech has always been one of my lower skills. Even with a high intelligence stat, I get counted off for being too... Vague. Which I guess is technically a bad thing, but is it really so bad to avoid spoilers? To give others a sense of discovery?"

If Hinata hadn't caught on yet that she was using the game as a metaphor, he likely would soon enough. Her subtlety was slipping in favor of being invested in the conversation. Comparing everything to a video game simply allowed her to process things in a different way-- a way that clicked with her, that kept her approach strategic and focused.
