Joules was filled with stories from adventures both great and small, and even in the short time he’d been with the Derelict’s crew, he was already making a name for himself. He wasn’t necessarily popular with everyone, but it was fun to find people who seemed to genuinely like him and listened to his tales with great entertainment. as
She asked about his rope braiding, and he nodded. “Yeah. Hutts can’t really do much with those fat, tiny arms of theirs, so they paid well for others to do it for them. Ropes are primitive as hell, but they’re cheap and useful. If I wasn’t thieving to stay alive, I was braiding. Only thing is that it can be rough on the hands, and… I had tiny hands. I’ve always been kind of a runt. But I’m made of tough stuff, so don’t let that fool you,” he mused. He didn’t really like talking about his life on Dandoran too much, but Pomona’s questions were harmless. “A Wookie is a giant, furry beings from Kashyyyk. Their booze is fucking amazing. Xel almost killed me with it the other night, my hangover was so bad. But it was totally worth it,” he said, grinning at the thought of their shenanigans. “But their fur is long and tangly. They can be kinda smelly sometimes, but… you didn’t hear that from me. Whatever you do, you do NOT fuck with an angry Wookie.”
“See? I can do different ones, too. The ones close to the scalp. Big ones, tiny ones. Just depends on how much time we have, and how you like ‘em!” I could even braid my own hair, but honestly, these little buns are gonna be a trend. Soon, you’ll see all the other boys on the ship wearing ‘em,” he teased, laughing softly. He grinned when she said she’d refer all the other girls to get their hair braided by him. “For you? It’s free. For everyone else? They better have credits,” he teased. “Alright, I’ve told you a little bit about me. What about you? Where do you come from, Pom?”
Pom never doubted that Joules wouldn't be a strong person. If any, she was most often misjudged too, because of the way she looked and the fact that she was a princess. Of course, no one on the ship knew that, and to them, she was just a simple girl. Pom couldn't help but feel bad, not because she pitied him, there was always a bitter aftertaste when it came to people pitying you. The princess just never understood hardships like that, not until now, as she was hiding on a ship with strangers that were slowly becoming her friends. "I think your hands would tell them the truth. It doesn't matter the size of you; hardships and survival are the same for everyone if they come across it." Besides, it was more meaningful that the hands that went through so much could do something so nice and special as braiding someone's hair.
She was curious about the other species, the Wookie already sounding like something that extremely outstanding. Vena would've been a good place for them with the heavy furs and long hair, a great way to stay warm from the cold. Her planet was pretty humane, the more she thought about it --- only rumors of exotic animals coming to mind, the ones are hidden under the hefty amount of ice and snow or the tales of the monster that was swimming in the silent seas until it was monsoon season again.
"Maybe one day, you can make me meet one?"
Pom beamed at the offer and his compliment. "You look amazing in the buns, Joules. I wonder if I can get the captain to wear them?" She snickered at the idea, perhaps if they were drunk enough. Pom looked away when he asked her about where she was from. What could she even tell him? Did it matter if he knew something about it? "My planet is very cold sometimes, but the seas are beautiful. The bluest I have ever seen them. The snow the purest white like crystalized sugar. --- I was very loved. I wonder if they miss me."
