Helping Hands || Zuriel & Bade
zabrakzur:
“cool,” he says easily, pulls a screwdriver out of his belt and throws it at the other man in a little curve so that it’d be easy to catch. he doesn’t expect the man to flawlessly catch the thing, but he’s not looking anyway so if it takes a little bit of a messy flailing in order for the screwdriver to end up in bade’s hands, that’s between the man and the tool.
the conversation about man versus machine in terms of durability is all but closed off in his head, his mind focusing back on his task at hand and therefore dropping anything else that it might have been considering. without further ado, he’s walking away, over to the hallway where the panels are he needs to work behind, and when he reaches the first one he taps it lightly.
“this one,” he says calmly, continues on and taps the next four as well. “this one, this one, this one and this one.” he glances over his shoulder at the other man to see if he understood the instructions, then walks towards the other side of the hallway so he can fix the door control while the other man takes out the wall panels.
Bade set to work as Zur pointed out what needed to be done. He wasn’t sure if it would put him in the good graces of the other, but he was sure that making a move on at least would get him to be asked to help again. Or accepted if he offered it. Good enough for him, for now. He was aware that some trust had to be win slowly, and some would never be won at all. But if he really planned on staying on this ship as long as he was, then it was worth it. Then he had to make it worth it.
He started unscrewing the tops and setting them down on the floor, not looking over at Zur as he worked. He worked quickly, especially with such an easy task. “I guess this is the best kind of ship you can be on, as a mechanic? Lots of things to do, work never done, always things to take apart and put together better?” he asked, hoping to keep conversation going.
