had to try && make modern dorothy gale with my favorite p.ic.rew maker right now lol.

but anyway!! here are some modern dorothy headcanons:

1. dorothy is a cottagecore / soft girl lesbean who loves musical theater and vintage fashion [ #vintage fashion not vintage morals. ] 2. she is also a registered animal crossing gay && her island is very cute. 3. she has a tiktok with around 1k followers so it’s “small”-ish but her content is mostly farm animals being cute and also gay stuff and baking. we stan. 4. she loves earrings && especially loves getting them from small businesses. she has little rubber duck earrings, teddy bear earrings, jelly fish earrings, various fruit earrings, lollipop earrings etc. etc. 5. she’s an iced coffee gay && yes she does hold her cup in the trademark gay way, thank you for asking. 6. a whole ass little baby gay, please protect her. 7. is a christian but one of the good ones don’t worry. dorothy grew up being afraid that god wouldn’t accept her into heaven because of her sexuality but now she knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that he loves her very much. 8. she goes to protests && even though she’s 4′11′’ she’s still gonna try to protect other people against the c*ps. 9. dorothy doesn’t know how to function when a pretty/cool girl talks to her. she gets flustered very easily and blushes and stammers a lot. this is an invitation to tease and flirt with dorothy gale and make her blush, by the way.

i’m terribly sorry that i keep disappearing. i just feel extremely insecure about my portrayal of dorothy && find it hard to get the inspiration to write anything here. not to mention my disdain for the recent dumb-lr updates. but recently my mom surprised me with a whole complete collection of oz plush dolls from 1998 in extremely good condition and they’re a super cute addition to my little oz collection!

🌈🌺┋*:・ﾟ✧ it’s five thirty-six in the evening and dorothy is trying her best to get back to the farm on time at six o’clock sharp like she’s supposed to. she’s normally very good at following her over protective aunt’s strict rules but she lost track of time; having spent the latter part of her city outing at the library reading fairy tales && classic literature as well as collections of poems and sonnets; mostly romantic ones. it’s one of the extremely rare times that emily has allowed her to come to derry on her own for an entire day. and dorothy is afraid that if she’s late coming back home, she might keep her COOPED UP in the gale house until she’s old and gray herself.

so she decides to take a short cut, in hopes that she’ll get there in time to avoid any consequence. she knows her aunt would lose her mind with worry && fear if she knew she was straying from the carefully designated path home but really --- whatever awful thing had once hurt her? was surely long GONE BY NOW.  really, she loves her aunt very much but the woman could stand to relax a bit! as she’s doing a sort of half walk / half run of sorts; dorothy checks the time on the wrist watch she borrowed from uncle henry. it’s five forty-eight.

since she’s not paying attention, she doesn’t see the ground beneath her feet has become a bit UNEVEN. dorothy yelps in surprise when she trips and hits the ground with a painful thud. she’s experienced a bit worse running around on a farm of course but still. dorothy’s knee is scraped up a bit, it’ll need to be cleaned && bandaged. she’s quite glad that nobody is around right now to have seen her tumble and to see her eyes welling up with tears in the aftermath. 

or rather, she was under the IMPRESSION that nobody was around but a small noise makes her pause. no, it’s most likely just her mind playing tricks on her. she really shouldn’t have read that short scary story whilst at the derry library, she gets spooked so easily! the stillness && quiet suddenly seem...uneasy.

❛❛ hello? is someone...---no, stop being a silly goose now dorothy. come on, we’re already running late. auntie em is going to keep me locked up in my room until i’m on my DEATH BED. ❜❜ she talks out loud to herself as she makes herself stand up. her knee still throbbing with discomfort && pain.

“Sorry if it’s a bit itchy.” Neville mumbles as he rummages through his old crate in search for a jumper for Dorothy to put on.  “Most clothes Gran’s gotten for me are a bit itchy.”

Neville’d offered to lend his friend one of his jumpers after noticing that she frequently folded her arms over her chest.  Is the morning air too crisp? He asks himself as his hands find a light teal jumper.  Just as he suspected, it was a bit scratchy.  Oh, he hoped Dorothy didn’t mind!  As he stood with the large jumper in hand Neville’s ears turned pink with embarrassment.  Hopefully it wasn’t too itchy. .

“Is this all right?  It probably won’t look fashionable over a dress but it’ll at least keep you warm.” He sounds a bit down, anxious: He’s obviously stuck in his head, worrying about the itchiness of the jumper.

🌈🌺┋*:・ﾟ✧  ❛❛ oh no, please don’t fret over anything. you’re being awfully kind, letting me borrow something of yours in the first place. i would never, ever complain. it’s just...i don’t like how TIGHT my blouse feels. i mean, it fits perfectly but i’d like something that’s not so form fitting. this is perfect neville && it’ll keep me extra warm as well. ❜❜ she takes the teal hued fabric, feeling the material with her hands. it is a tad bit itchy but not unbearable by any means.

she puts it on over her top, it’s a little BAGGY on her much to her relief. ❛❛  it’s perfect, i can wear a skirt over it; i’ll just tuck it in a little bit...i quite like how loose it is. thank you so very much for lending it to me. everything is mostly hidden, thank merlin. you’re such a darling friend, i hope you know that? ❜❜

IN MEMORY OF NAYA RIVERA

Naya Rivera was a mom, a sister, a daughter. She was an actress, a singer, a writer, a model. She was a latina woman who went through a lot in this life. She was always vocal and open about important issues such as homophobia, racism, toxic relationships, sexism, motherhood, abortion. Her character in Glee was probably one of the most influential and important representations for the LGBTQ+ community and she always talked about how Santana was important for young LGBT people and how proud she was for being able to represent something good. If Santana ever helped you, Naya was so proud of that and of you. She changed lives.

Thank you, Naya. You’ll be remembered and missed.

so, dorothy didn’t grow up with any sort of lgbtq+ representation in the media she consumed. she didn’t grow up knowing anybody on the lgbtq+ spectrum either needless to say. she grew up hearing negative, hurtful, and sometimes even violent things in regards to lgbtq+ community from people in her conservative community and church. 

this all not only resulted in dorothy being closeted for a good majority of her life, but also in her lack of knowledge about her own community. for example?  i imagine that the first time she learns about transgender people, the concept is very confusing to her. but she’d approach it in a way that’s like:

 “ i don’t quite understand this but if changing your body and/or wearing certain kinds of clothes makes you feel happy and comfortable, i think that’s lovely. “ and she’s always willing and happy to learn and try to understand more.
