Her brain is working a thousand miles a minute as he talks to her. She’s listening, but there’s also a very loud ringing in her eats. She’s quiet, which is new for her. Typically, she’d be yelling by now. It feels like that’s all they’ve done lately. Evidently, it got them nowhere. So, she’s going to just stop it. All of it. “Alright.” Was all she said. “I’m sorry.” Then, she moves her way back to the passenger side of the car. “Ready to go get a puppy, Lil?” She asks, as she buckles her seat belt.
With the expectation of receiving some sort of snarky response, Crash was noticeably caught off guard when Charlie didn’t say anything and although it was a nice alternative to another argument, it aggravated him. “Whatever.” Clenching his jaw, he rolled his eyes and shook his head before stalking off to the car. He said nothing as he backed out of the parking space and drove in the direction of the nearest animal shelter.
Somehow, he was still mad at her. She had done everything in her power to settle him down, but it apparently wasn’t enough. The only sound for the entire duration of the car ride was the radio, and Lilly singing quietly in the background. They pulled into the parking lot, and her daughter practically launched herself out of the car.
