guess who got sick over the weekend and now has no voice, a v sore throat, stuffed nose, cannot breathe, a terrible cough that keeps them up at night, and achiness all over... this giiirl.
i’ll be trying to post some starters tomorrow during my free time, since i made a starter call while i was on hiatus. hugs to everyone. wash your hands so you don’t get sick like me!

“my father said that once you come to the throne… there is no separation. but as myself, i am just afraid for what is to come, as anyone might be. chaos seems to continue to reign, when peace and order should, and it only makes me fear that there is no end in sight to this conflict. it worries me as catherine, not just as a sovereign. and i am afraid of feeling quite alone at times, too, truthfully.”

lamia: how do you feel about children?
“i feel that my parents should have had more of them, so that their sole son might not bear so much weight on his shoulders. in all seriousness, though. i do enjoy children. i’ve always enjoyed entertaining them when they came to stockholm and to the palace, and now… well, i feel pressured. to have them, of course.”

lamia: how do you feel about children?
“i love them so. i would desperately like to be a mother one day, to raise children and teach them to be kind and intelligent individuals… i feel that they’re a blessing.”
mammon: when were you most greedy? for what?
“my mother used to tell me how unbecoming it was for a lady to be filled with greed. but i think there is a significant difference between greed and earnestness; i have been earnest much of my life for knowledge. greed, though– how greedy i am for the time of those i love, and their affections. i know there are… a select number of individuals whose time and affection i am always most greedy for.”
ornias: talk about a time where you felt drained of energy
“the day of my father’s funeral. it was a long occasion, and many dignitaries wanted to express their respect– rightfully so, of course, but i simply wanted to be alone and mourn my father. i had nothing left within me.”

“most likely with song and literature, although not solely about myself. i do not consider myself that vain, but i do appreciate music and poetry. a bit of beauty in small places, small statues and such– i would like that.”

“without a doubt, the person i want to destroy without hesitation– the man, whoever he may be, who killed my father, leveraged that fatal blow… i know it is war. but my father was, and still is, so much to me. justice should be served.”

“quite difficult. perhaps a wolf, a horse, and a falcon.”

head had needed to be cleared and adelaide found herself most free whilst riding a horse. something her father had taught her how to do, and she had done often as a child — her own taste of freedom in a shielded and sheltered life. the princess had raced down to the stables as early as she could, and was out riding within one hour of awakening.
hands caressed the fur of her favourite horse, brought to bern with them, and she had ridden at full speed for as long as she could before the animal grew tired. she was nearing the palace again, with it in sight now, and slowed her pace considerably: yet she was surprised to hear somebody approach, and head turned, hair tucked carefully behind her ears. “you startled me.”
one must always remain at their peak abilities. never falter, never stumble. his father’s words rang in his ears as augustus rode across the grounds of the swiss palace, challenging his own endurance ( and, of course, that of his steed ) with a long ride. the king had been riding at a quick pace, but at the familiar sight of adelaide, he slowed to a walk, approaching her and her horse.
he realized she might not hear him nearing, as his horse was rather quiet as it strode across the grasses, so the king clicked his tongue slightly and encouraged his horse to trot towards her a little more quickly. at the sound of her voice, his brows knit together. “my apologies,” augustus quickly replied, sincerity in his voice. “i was merely hoping to catch up. it has been too long,” he added, shaking his head. “how have you been, as of late? have you always been one for such early rides?”

he may have often been found outdoors — for that was where he was most as peace — but libraries, espeically grand ones such as the current one aleks found himself in, they were another sanctuary. he peered a certain title, the familiar name catching his eye and an ever so slight smirk bloomed on his face. within moments, aleks had pulled the book from the shelf, flipped it open to the back page — finding the very letter he was looking for. written by one of his spies, no doubt. he slipped the letter into his coat pocket, not even bothering to glance around. ( what was the point? the library was near dead. )
she had always been fond of books. as a child, the now crown princess had always been found with a volume in hand, fervently devouring literature, history, and science. although many things had changed since then, catherine’s almost signature trait had not. for once, the heiress had a spare moment, and she had stolen away into the library to find a few new titles. the englishwoman perused with a careful hand, fingers passing over the spines of the books as eyes read the lettering. ever the observer, though, something strange caught her eye on the other side of the shelf-- a man quickly opening and closing a book. catherine moved to see who it was, gliding across the floor and stopping at the end of the aisle.
“did you not care for the title?” she asked, tilting her head a degree. realizing her question might be a bit too pointed, she quickly added: “my apologies if i’ve startled you. i did not know there was company to be found in these shelves, other than that which i always discover within these pages.”
