        The muscles of Terra’s frame tensed slightly at the sound of rustling bushes. His eyes quickly fell to it, concerned it may have been an Unversed trying to get the sneak on him. It was quick reflex that denied his trained instinct to summon his Keyblade as a figure leapt from the bushes. Thank Kingdom Hearts that he had, because it was only a child – a little girl.

       ❝You got me, ❞ Terra answered with a slight chuckle. Immediately his body eased and he knelt down onto one knee, bringing his towering height closer to the child’s level. ❝What are you doing out here all alone? ❞ Where were her parents? Didn’t they know it was dangerous with the Unversed on the loose?

Her giggles took a while to quiet down but, once they had, she was able to grin up at him. She held the flowers she’d collected earlier  a little tighter in her hand as she rocked back and forth on her feet, 

❝I was picking flowers, but I got bored and left the garden to play!” She explained. Suddenly, a brilliant idea struck her, and she quickly pulled a flower out of the bunch to offer to him.

“Here!” She grinned proudly, “for letting me scare you!”

★“Hm?” Teenager. Too young to really know why the guards had to be so rough by the castle, yet too old to sneak through the bars like her friends did when they were kids. So instead her investigation in their stead came at a halt by the gates. When she considered jumping the end of the wall, Tifa found her leg bumped, her balance warranting an alert. But instead the martial artist in training just turned to look down. 

“Oh. You should watch where you’re going, you could have fallen!”

❝ Sorry!” Kairi repeated, shrugging her shoulders. Though her smile never faltered. “I’ll be more careful next time, promise!” She nodded a few times, reassuring the teen she was being honest. It was a moment after that that she realized where she was. Just in front of the castle that her Grandmother frequented, and sometimes brought Kairi with her. It never occurred to the young girl that most couldn’t just walk in.

Modelling, Riku would not deny, was one of the more stressful jobs that could have come with the company he worked for. There were other blocks for singing, design labels, all sorts of things – he just happened to be in that particular sector of modelling the clothes made.

Not that he was complaining – being honest, he found it intriguing how one person could make so many different types of clothes – so many things that matched so well with other different things–

He wasn’t quite obsessed – but he was most definitely interested in, and happy with, his work – which, he knew, wasn’t something easily found in today’s society.

Brushing a hand through silver locks, he could officially deem himself to be on a break before the next clothes run in an hour – which gave him plenty of time to grab a cup of coffee, a place to sit in the workers’ café ( one of the most glorious sights of the city he’d ever seen, with a seat by the wall-scale window ).

Yeah – this life, he truly couldn’t complain about.

It was as he was stepping out of the studio and into the café that he saw her, ( or, rather, her copper hair that stood out so much amongst crowds; in a good way ) and pale lips twitched in amusement.

Pale digits brushed through her copper strands in an amusing manner, and he let out a low chuckle, teal hues softening in her presence;

Kairi was used to sitting around in the cafe. Her grandmother ran the shop that was a haven for people who worked around the area taking their breaks. Sometimes she insisted on helping, bringing out a drink for a customer, and sometimes she would just talk to people about their day and what kind of work they did, so the regulars were used to the little one who hung around all the time.

She’d made friends with a lot of the regulars, but Riku was by far her favorite. He always made it a point to have a chat with her, and he told some of the best stories! Unfortunately, he hadn’t been in for a while, so she hadn’t had the chance to tell him any of her stories- like the schools she’d been taken to look at. She was going to start Kindergarten next year, after all.

It seemed like it was going to be a pretty boring day when she finally got the chance. Her chocolate milk drinking and coloring were interrupted by a hand on her head that ruffled her hair. 

❝ Hey!” She yelled out, putting her hands on her head to stop them from messing up her hair anymore as she looked up at the culprit. Her pout quickly turned into a grin when she saw who it was.

❝Riku!” Kairi abandoned her chocolate milk to stand up on the chair she’d been sitting in so she was closer to his height.

Her energy was impossible to contain, which probably explained why she was running around, practically uncontrollably, and giggling loudly. It also explained why, when she finally ran into someone, she gave a big smile instead of pouting and whining like most kids her age would do after running into someone.

❝Oops,” She said quietly through her giggles, “sorry!”

“….” She took a good look at the other younger girl. She was rather cute, but finding it curious that the first thing that came across her mind was to ask about her weapon. Being humble about it. 

“…It is. But I don’t use it much. Why’s a cute little girl like you need to know something like that though, hm~?” She asked in a light tone, as she bent her knees to reach her eye-level.

Kairi stared at the sword for just another moment before she turned her attention to the woman in front of her. She shrugged, bouncing on her toes as she started to explain.

❝The older kids are always pretending to fight each other, but they’re weapons aren’t real. I watch them sometimes, but I’ve never ever seen a real weapon before. Yours looks way bigger and, uh,” She paused for a moment, searching for the right word. “Shinier! So I wanted to know if it was real.”
