Once they watched Lea depart through a corridor of darkness, Ienzo and Aeleus split up to continue sifting through the available records. Lord Ansem’s study held a few things that could be useful for future hypotheses, but its ransacked state left them looking for further work after a relatively short time. Ienzo wasn’t sure how Aeleus felt, but he assumed it wasn’t far off from his own state--seeking answers while going through the motions of being helpful.
While Aeleus took off to search the king’s former quarters, Ienzo headed back towards the laboratories. Lea had swept through the rooms and the manufactory beyond with his usual nonchalance, accepting that he wasn’t going to find Isa and Braig within the castle before setting his aims to other worlds. Logic seemed to dictate that they would have found them in the labs if they had indeed fallen to darkness there, but...
There were holes to his memory--to their memories. He knew that both he and Even had lost their hearts around the same time, and Braig had still been in the room with Xehanort. Xigbar had been vague about what had happened afterwards, and Xemnas kept Xehanort’s reticence, leaving it open where exactly they had fallen.
With a frown, he stepped over to the master computer, pulling up the access console for the underground lab. Xemnas had continued visiting the underground lab long after they moved operations to the Castle That Never Was, so it remained a viable place to think of people entering. Perhaps something had shifted while Braig, Isa, and Xehanort regained their hearts, causing them to physically appear elsewhere in the world. After all, there were still many questions; he had no idea why Even and Dilan required so much rest while the rest of them were able to function much faster.
The computer beeped at him as he sent a call down into the depths of the underground. If someone was down there, perhaps they would hear it and answer.
