@ofwinthropes
dear vincent,
                                                yours truly,                                                        theo
bytheshoreâ:
theo winthrope + olivia flanagan:
olivia leaned her elbow against the bar, facing theo with her head resting in her palm. she seemed uncharacteristically fidgety, shifting in her seat and having trouble meeting theoâs eyes head-on. but her grin didnât waver, not even at the brunetteâs sardonic reply.
âyou think thatâs good, just wait until you try a five-dollar pitcher of the finest beer on tap, served in cloudy plastic. thatâs the real shit.â she paused, finishing the remainder of her drink before setting the now-empty bottle back on the counter.
âso howâve you been, then?â olivia looked curiously at theo. âthatâs what iâm supposed to ask, right?â then, looking as though it took her a great amount of effort to admit such a thing: âi donât know, i just missed you.â
.
being around olivia again was odd. it was a lot different than she imagined, and theo wasnât really sure what to make of that. in all of the times she had thought through the scenario of running into her ex again, she had never seen the possibility of things being so...civil. olivia fidgeting and smiling just confused her, and theo didnât like it. she wasnât sure how to handle this situation when she wasnât even sure what was going on in oliviaâs head.Â
wrinkling her nose, theo shook her head. âi have zero intentions of trying beer from a pitcher,â she replied bluntly. theo didnât even like beer; the thought of drinking it from a place that probably didnât have a great rating from the health department sounded like a nightmare to her.Â
theo paused, her face carefully schooled into a neutral expression. she could handle this question - just talk about how great things were going now! it would be easy. but then olivia had to say that sheâd missed her, and theoâs chest hurt. she had wanted to hear that olivia cared about her a year ago. hearing it now, after knowing that she wasnât oliviaâs first choice, just wasnât fair. âyou donât get to say that.â she told the blonde, finally turning to face her completely.
bytheshoreâ:
.
olivia took another long sip from her beer, finishing it off and setting it down on the bar before turning her body to face theo. she looked much the same as she had a year ago, but with browner hair at her roots and a new floral tattoo spanning her exposed shoulder. she matched the somewhat dingy vibe of the bar, in ripped overalls and no makeup on her lightly sunburned face. olivia folded her arms over her chest, looking a little embarrassed, but not nearly enough to phase her demeanor.
âsounds like fun. and you, what, thought youâd just sneak off to my neck of the woods for the hell of it? they have actual nice bars downtown, you know.â olivia grinned. âyou never know who you might meet at sketchier places like this.â
.
as olivia turned to face her, theo pointedly remained facing the bar. she wasnât going to make this easy for the blonde. last summer, theo had been the vulnerable one, the one who had tried to make things work. if olivia wanted them to be on okay terms with one another, then sheâd have to do more than buy theo a drink.Â
theo took the time to wipe her smudged lip gloss off of the glass she was drinking out of while she considered her answer. olivia was right - there were nicer places than the crowâs nest. âiâve always liked adventures,â she replied evenly, raising an eyebrow. theo hadnât come here looking for olivia, even if thatâs what it seemed like. if sheâd wanted to see her that badly, she would have gone with the others to the grocery store at some point.Â
âbesides, how could i turn down a watered down vodka sour in a glass with streaks on it?â maybe she was being a little judgmental, but when had that ever stopped theo? it wasnât as if she were known for being nice, and she definitely wasnât feeling particularly generous.Â
tockasâ:
softly humming, kieran halted in his steps when theo aimed her camera at him. he stood still with his own camera in his hands, and let her take the photo. perhaps that represented him best â simply doing nothing. after the familiar noise of her shutter clicking, he tilted his head downwards to look through his recent photos. he paused at one of theo with her eyes closed in the car, taken during their road trip. âyou look pretty here,â he mused, turning his camera to show her. his mind drifted back to that day, but he buried his thoughts down.
âso iâd be the first person to accompany you there then,â he wondered out loud, and a small smile appeared on his face as he opened himself up for a joke. âdoes that make me your first? wow, theo, what an honor youâve bestowed upon me. iâm touched, really.â kieran snickered as he draped his arm around her shoulders and dragged her along the beach.
he walked with her for only a few steps, until kieran stopped short. picking up his camera dangling from his neck, he lifted it up with his free hand with the lens pointed at them. â5 a.m. sunrise selfie,â he drawled, but he felt content; maybe even happy, walking on the beach with one of his favorite friends. leaning his head down on top of theoâs, his finger hovered over the shutter button. â3, 2, 1âŠâ
snapping the photo, kieran quickly turned it around to see the playback with her. âwe could be models without even trying,â he half-joked, before finally shutting his camera off. âall right, letâs walk to the diner. itâs a nice day, i doubt anyoneâs outside at this hour, and we can catch up.â
.
âi always look pretty,â theo teased, though she was only half kidding. she had confidence - there was no point in denying it. âthank you, though.â theo offered her friend a genuine smile, something that was rare for her. she tended to hide behind that confidence and use it as a shield. it was rare she let down her guard in general. kieran was one of the very few people who were allowed to see theo like that.
âcalm down, romeo,â she laughed, shoving kieran away as they walked. âiâm not sure how much of an honor it is to take my diner virginity.â theo rolled her eyes at him being silly. âbut if you want to pay for it, i wonât say no.â of course, theo would probably end up stealing the bill before she let him pay for it. why charge others when she had her trusty black card with her at all times?
grinning, theo allowed kieran to position them for a selfie. âthis will be so cute,â she said, already brainstorming instagram captions as he took the picture. before he pulled away, theo pulled kieran in for a hug, relaxing for the first time in awhile; her friends had a way of making her softer without even meaning too. it was just so nice feeling like she didnât have to try so hard with them.Â
âso, howâs your vacation so far?â she asked as they walked to the diner. putting her camera back in itâs case, she adjusted the strap around her neck. âanything noteworthy yet?â

theo winthrope + olivia flanagan:
olivia was leaning over the bar on the opposite end to where theo sat, chatting obliviously and animatedly to the bartender. when he paused the conversation to take theoâs order, however, her attention was turned, and she froze for a moment before taking a large sip from her beer, standing up from her stool, and getting the bartenderâs attention again.
âactually, parker, you can put that on my tab,â she instructed him, well within theoâs earshot. then, looking directly at her: âi owe winthrope a hell of a lot more than a drink.â olivia paused, holding eye contact with theo for a good moment as though unsure of whether to approach or just leave it at that. then, after mumbling âfuck itâ under her breath, she moved into the empty seat right next to theo.
âso. youâre back,â she observed, now looking at the bar before them. âand with a college degree. congratulations.â
.
theo was half-tempted to act like she hadnât even seen olivia, but that was ridiculous considering how tiny this dive bar was. and it wouldnât be the mature move, though theo was rarely known for that anyway. but, it seemed unavoidable now, so she might as well try to leave with as much of her dignity as she could manage.
she just really hadnât thought the first time she saw olivia this summer would be like this. theo thought that her friends would be around, and she would be looking hot and way too cool to care about the fact that olivia had broken her heart a year ago. instead, she was alone in a dive bar on the wrong side of town, wearing her fourth best outfit and hoping her curls looked as good as they had when she left.
theo almost told the bartender that no, olivia would not be buying this. embarrassing her in her own element would have been nice, butâŠwell, olivia did owe theo a hell of a lot more than one drink. and if the other girl wanted to spend her paycheck here, then so be it. she took another long sip of the drink, hoping it would calm her nerves a bit and bring back her usual confidence.
âthank you.â theo said, because she wasnât a complete monster. she was still furious with olivia, and she wouldnât mind getting in a few digs tonight, but olivia being nice-ish was throwing her off, honestly. âi brought some of my friends to norbury this summer to celebrate.â that line would have definitely been more impressive had she thought to bring even one friend with her here tonight, theo thought bitterly. this was the last time she snuck off on her own.
no, it wouldnât be, but still.

4. what are some of your rp pet peeves?
well, i would say the biggest red flag / pet peeve for me is when people bubble rp, or thereâs like a strong culture of only plotting with people who have fcs that are popular ? like, thankfully now in skeleton rps i see that less, but back when i did more like fandom rps or appless rps, it was a big turn off when it felt like no one wanted to plot. now i just vibe with small groups and itâs nice !
13. who are five of your favorite characters?
this is absolutely not a top 5 faves of all time list; these are just faves that popped into my head as i was thinking. in no real order and with very little explanation:Â
princess/general leia ( literally my childhood idol )
alex claremont-diaz ( i love his passion ? itâs just always refreshing to see a protag who like...actually gives a shit about a lot of things ? also being from a red part of my state, his passion for trying to turn texas blue like legit made me tear up the first time i read about it )
molly peskin-suso ( literally i was molly for so much of high school and at times thatâs hard to read, especially the parts about her hating herself, but itâs also nice i guess to feel seen ? )
elizabeth bennet ( especially keira knightley ?? yes )
nick miller from new girl and iâm not that ashamed of it
16. do you like to queue your replies or just post them when you finish?
both ? it depends. if itâs like something i want to get a lot of replies / attention, i queue it for when i know people will be active. but just a normal reply usually gets posted as soon as iâm done, usually with zero proof-reading.Â
irish breakfast, milk, chai
irish breakfast: what country do you want to visit?
iâve not done a lot of traveling outside of the us, so really anywhere. iâve always wanted to go to europe - specifically italy. i would also love to see france, germany, spain, scotland, england...again literally anywhere !! i think it would be really cool to visit japan, brazil, new zealand and egypt too...iâm just a broke bitch who wants to see the world.Â
milk: do you have any allergies?
i donât have any allergies, but i am intolerant to egg whites. for some reason, my body just like...refuses to process them. i can eat baked goods and stuff, but not eggs or quiche or anything like that. sometimes i do, but then i hate myself for like the next day when my body reminds me that thatâs not a good idea.
chai: what do you order at starbucks?
i...act like a coffee snob but iâm basic at heart, whoops. i usually get a dragon drink or a vanilla sweet cream cold brew. i like sweet, iced drinks. i also really like the medicine ball / honeycitrus mint tea.Â
earl grey, green tea !
earl grey: how do you take your tea ?
okay it depends on the tea ! i am a big fan of herbal teas with lemon juice and honey, or english breakfast with milk and sugar. but overall, i prefer coffee.Â
green tea: where do you feel most at peace ?
not to be clichĂ©, but nature. hiking or kayaking are like my go-to stress relievers. iâm a plant, i need sunlight and dirt to survive thanks.Â

date & time: june 10th, evening location:Â the crowâs nest availability: @bytheshore
going off on her own was sort of theoâs go-to move. sheâd mastered sneaking out at an early age, often finding use for it when partying at boarding school. as much as she loved her parents, and now her friends, sometimes she just needed some time to herself, to not feel like she had to be perfect for a few hours.Â
the crowâs nest wouldnât normally be her first choice destination on a night like this, but the captainâs tavern had just seemed sad. after all, being a restaurant too, it was a bit more of a family establishment than the crowâs nest. and theo did not want to get drunk in that environment. besides, if any of her parentsâ friends had finally arrived in norbury, she didnât really want them to see her throwing back a shot. she knew she was tempting fate by venturing to this side of town, but she found she just didnât care.
opening the door, theo schooled her face into a neutral enough expression and walked in confidently. she wasnât trying to get anyoneâs attention tonight, but she also probably wouldnât turn it down either. approaching the bar, she found an empty seat on the end and ordered a vodka sour. as she took a sip of the drink, she saw a familiar blonde. fuck.Â
tockasâ:
.
suppressing a yawn, kieran attempted to blink away any leftover sleepiness but he was already planning on taking a nap later. on the bright side, taking photos with theo was worth the messed-up sleep schedule. he was touched when she invited him out to do this, feeling nostalgic for the days when they first met and he clicked with her instantly.
if he was really being honest, norbury creeped him out a little. he hadnât forgotten about that weird town sign, albeit nobody else noticed it so kieran stayed quiet and brushed it off. still, after a few days here something just odd about the small town and he wanted to ask theo about it. maybe there was a gruesome past in norbury that he wasnât aware of.
kieran trailed behind theo on the beach, pausing to take a photo of her as the sun rose behind her in perfect lighting. he chuckled, but he couldnât fully agree with her since he was enjoying the quiet breeze on the beach. âcan you take decent photos when youâre half drunk, half sober? i got high with vin once and tried taking pictures of the sky afterwards, but i was so confused that i ended up taking photos of vin the whole time.â kieran crouched down in the sand and lifted his camera up towards the sunrise, adjusting the buttons until he found the right settings, and snapped a photo.Â
âsure, coffee sounds perfect,â he stood up and flashed her a smile. âactually, do you wanna just go for breakfast? at the diner, maybe?â
.
as dramatic as she was being, theo was genuinely glad to spend time with kieran one on one. she wasnât sure what the next year would bring, so it was nice to hang out with him this summer. hopefully they all stayed close, but if theo moved to paris...well, who knows? she hoped this wasnât their last hurrah, but it very well might be.Â
stifling yet another yawn, theo made the executive decision that she was napping once they got back to the house. the beach and shopping could wait until she was feeling well-rested. after all, town was dead this year. it wasnât like she had to worry about the shoreline or downtown being crowded.Â
she smiled, trying to look as candid as possible for the picture. nothing was worse than an overly staged shot, in theoâs opinion. once he finished, she snapped one of him before he could protest. âoh absolutely. some of my best work has come from being half drunk.â that wasnât entirely true, but theo was willing to give it a shot. and honestly, she had taken some cute candid shots while tipsy before. at his mention of taking pictures of vin, theo hummed, choosing to remain silent. she did raise her eyebrow, though.Â
âi could definitely go for waffles,â theo agreed, although she hoped she could stay awake that long. âi donât know that iâve ever been to the diner before, honestly. usually we eat downtown. hopefully itâs good,â she shrugged. even after all of these years, there were still parts of norbury that theo had never been to. maybe this would be the summer to properly explore.Â
bytheshoreâ:
theo winthrope + ??:
he appeared to consider theo for a moment, looking amused at first by her refusal to back down or be intimidated by his condescension. then, recognition flickered in his expression.
âyou must be charlotte dayholtâs daughter, or one of her friends,â the man remarked after a pause. âshe mentioned to me her daughter had summer plans here with her little posse from school. glad to see you all made it into town in one piece.â he grinned. âas for the town, well, i suppose tourism hasnât picked up as quickly as usual, but itâs still the beginning of the summer. iâm sure things will get busier. besides, all the easier for you and your friends to enjoy what norbury has to offer, minus the crowds. you should be excited.â
.
âyou know ingridâs mom?â theo asked, looking at the man curiously. she didnât know much about charlotteâs business, just the bits and pieces sheâd heard from her friend over the years. still, it surprised her to know that this man might work with her, or at least knew her. small world. âiâm theo, ingridâs friend.â
she nodded, hoping he was right and that tourism would pick up. theo wasnât used to norbury being so quite; it was honestly a little disappointing. the lack of crowds did allow them to get to do more than they normally might, but there werenât extra people around to liven things up. and honestly, she didnât like this random guy telling her how to feel about things. âiâm sure we will.â she said neutrally with a small shrug.
bytheshoreâ:
theo winthrope + ??:
.
the man rolled his eyes and brushed coolly past her, taking a drag from his already-lit cigarette before turning back at the sound of theoâs voice. he was smartly dressed, in a shirt-and-trousers combo that just screamed white collar, and he also carried a brown leather briefcase slung over his shoulder. he smiled coyly at theoâs question, before breathing out a trail of cigarette smoke, not bothering to turn his head so it wouldnât blow in her direction.
âcare to be more specific?â he replied, taking a step closer. âitâs a big world, lots of things going on. most of which donât concern me, and even fewer that concern you.â
.
narrowing her eyes, theo studied the man in front of her. she had seen his type before in every man or boy who thought she wasnât worth their time. unfortunately, that was most rich guys. she had grown up in a world full of people who underestimated her until they realized just how much of a mistake that was, and this time wouldnât be any different. theo didnât flinch when he blew smoke in her face.
âsure, i can be much more specific,â she replied, her voice sickly sweet despite her expression being anything but kind. âdo you know why norbury seems deserted in june? usually downtown is packed around now.â it was weird that this asshole was the only person around. if it werenât just him, she would have asked anyone else.
even now, theo had half a mind to insult him or provoke him in some way, but she wanted answers first and foremost. she could always comment on his hideous briefcase later.Â
date & time: june 8th, mid afternoon location: downtown norbury availability:Â @bytheshore
so far, their trip to norbury was turning out to be just as fun as theo had hoped. she was enjoying getting to show her friends around the town she had come to think of as home. true, it wasnât her actual home in los angeles, but in so many ways, the beach house was more special than that. growing up, she was at a boarding school for nine months out of the year and the other three were spent here, on the sandy shores of norbury. the la mansion was just a place she stayed at for two weeks around christmas, assuming they didnât go skiing in the alps instead.Â
after spending some time settling in, theo had decided to take off on her own adventure for the afternoon. she had a habit of slipping away and disappearing for awhile; she had mastered the irish goodbye at a young age. theo doubted her friendsâ would worry about her absence, if anything, they may have expected it to happen sooner.Â
strolling through downtown with an iced coffee from norbury coffeehouse in hand, theo glanced at some of the businesses as she passed by. sheâd yet to see anything that made her interested enough to go inside, but she still liked to look. lilyâs boutique had some things that were cute enough, but she wasnât sure if sheâd ever wear them outside of norbury.Â
while trying to make a decision, theo realized that she was blocking the sidewalk. âsorry,â she apologized, stepping closer to the building to get out of the way. it struck her as odd, though, that she hadnât been in anyoneâs way sooner. âis there something going on today?â theo asked, unable to help herself. maybe the local would know why norbury seemed so empty this year.Â
date & time:Â june 6th, early morning location:Â the shoreline near 15 dogwood lane availability:Â @tockas
there were very few things that theo would get up early for. it was no secret that she was much more of a night owl. she preferred to stay up to watch the sunrise, not wake up for it. but, this had been her idea. photography was something she and kieran had bonded over early on in their friendship, and she wanted to him to get to see the beach before it was crowded with the rest of the tourists.
except, well, it had seemed sort of dead around town the last few days. theo had tried to ignore it, but it did strike her as odd that it seemed like none of the usual tourists were in town. maybe theyâd changed their minds and headed abroad for the summer, like vin had wanted to do, or maybe they were delayed on business and more of the wealthy tourists would be trickling in over the next few days.Â
either way, she found herself on the beach as the sun rose, camera in hand. she adjusted the lens, snapping a quick photo of the waves crashing onto the sand. âif i ever suggest this again, tell me no,â she remarked, capturing another picture. âor tell me not to even bother going to sleep the night before. letâs me do this after a night out when iâm in that sweet spot of half drunk, half sober, before the hangover sets in.â
the sunrise was beautiful, at least. âwe have got to get coffee after this.âÂ
