Me - Me
Nothing's here forever
Said the aunt to the mother
Her voice a quiet echo,
Her eyes a younger other
You wear the weight of seasons
I carry winds of youth
But both of us are shifting
Both searching for the truth
Don’t get too comfortable
The river bends its course
The child becomes the elder
The seed becomes the source
We are mirrors facing mirrors
Reflections intertwined
Two halves of one becoming
Through change the self aligned
I was you at one point
Carefree and unaware
Of the looming hands of time
Of burdens we must bear
Yet even as the hours
Carve lines upon the face
They etch a deeper wisdom
A tenderness, a grace
So listen when I tell you
This shifting is divine
Awakening is not ending
It’s the soul’s design
The aunt becomes the mother
The mother turns to sage
And all of life is calling
To rise, to turn the page.
