Quickly reaching for the beverage, Leo lightly smiled. “Glad to hear. Although, it would have been weird if you told me it was a bad day. Usually people lie about such things. You know what I mean, if you’re having a bad day, tell someone you’re doing fine.” Leo rambled, although he was not sure why he was even speaking. Lifting the drink up he took a drink after opening it.
“Visiting my friend,” he chuckled. Leo did not exactly consider his dealer his friend. It was a transaction that he greatly enjoyed. Weed, poppers and other fun things to get him through the day living in Deerhaven. “So, anything in here I might be interested in?” He questioned figuring most of the town knew by now that he was flamboyant and enjoyed more feminine things.
Fane laughed softly. “Yeah, well, I ain’t a great liar,” he admitted. “Even if I said ‘fine’, I’d be that TV show stereotype of the angry woman telling her partner that everything is fine, even though everyone can plainly see she’s furious. But! It’s genuine. It’s a pretty good day.”
Fane pursed his lips. “Hmm... well, if you like comics, I have a few that I could recommend, or graphic novels too,” he said, mind whirling. “If you like anime and manga, I have some figures and standees if you like that kind of thing. Accessories too, like jewellery and backpacks. Uh... I doubt you’re a board game or RPG kind of guy.”
It had been a month since he took the morning off to just go be a full adult kid, he stopped by the record store to pick some new records, and now he was entering the secret realm to see what new comics he could get for his bathroom reading selection and anything new that would catch his attention. Daniel loved how homier he always felt there and how welcoming they were with Arya, his dog, too. “Fane, my man. Anything new that you got for me?”
Fane was just finishing up with a little kid holding their father's hand, likely buying their first comic book. He handed the bag to the little boy, smiling. The two left after, and Fane waved a little. Looking up after, he smiled. "Hey, Dan," he greeted, already reaching into the drink case for Dan's usual drink of choice. "I've got a lot of new stuff in. One day, I'll convince you to check out the board games, but for now, we got a new shipment of comics in last week. Plus, I got a few lucky finds and managed to pick up some collector pieces if you want to check those out."
In many ways, Leo was too old to be buying weed off dealers that worked at the comic shop in Deerhaven, but the man had nowhere else to go and it was not as easily available as it was in New York. As he made his way in, sharply dressed as usual with a floral printed top and tight jeans he looked over at the male. Leo was aware he was a vampire older than him, but it always made him feel weird since Fane appeared to be a preteen.
“Oh,” he murmured more to himself wondering what he had would be enough until the next time. “How are things today? Well besides slow.” Leo asked as he started to wander around the shop. It was not exactly his place to hangout, but there were things that caught his eye at times.
Fane grabbed a soda from the drink case and held it out to Leo. “All things considered? It’s a pretty good day,” he said with a smile. “When school starts back up, the day’s are usually ghost towns in here with the kids gone back to school.” He debated getting a soda for himself. He was, unfortunately, one of the rare vampires that had a hard time tolerating human food and drink, but...
Fane grabbed an orange soda. Sometimes, he wished that he’d been human when they invented these sweet drinks. He’d like to be able to enjoy them without his body’s repulsion to it. Sue him. He had a sweettooth. “Bad day or just... visiting your... friend,” he said, being vague. The less specific they were, the better.
Realistically, Fane shouldn't be nervous. But he wasn't exactly good at dates, but... still, he was happy to have the time with Win. He still made Fane feel more alive than he'd felt since he was a kid in the 18th century.
Still, Fane wasn't quite sure how Win would react to the classic-styled arcade. Fane had always loved them, and he just wanted to share a little of some of his favourite games. "So, I know it's probably stupid, but I love arcades," he said to the blond. "Ever since the first ones. I remember playing old pinball games in an arcade in the 1930s. And man, the lines for that..."
Fane shook his head. "Sorry, sorry, nostalgia, I suppose," he said softly. "Still, they have all kinds of stuff in here. Hopefully, we find something you like?"
Fane was lounging on the couch. He didn't often have a day off. Running his own business was an awful lot like work. Still, Fane was planning to spend the day off just being home, maybe working some on the song he had on his mind. But later, right now, Fane was basking in the day off.
Of course, peace could never last. The door opened without any kind of knock, but Fane didn't even flinch. He could already tell it was Sutton without even looking up. "Hey, kid," he said, finally lifting his head to smile at the younger vampire. "Whatcha up to?"
Fane twirled the straw around his can of Cuervo. It was a slow day at the shop, which was unfortunately common during the week while school was in session. Even when school let out, and it picked up in the shop, Fane was pretty sure he could handle it. He didn't have any events on the calendar, so likely, he'd only see some kids in to play board games and buy some snacks. Fane had sent home the other employee, knowing he didn't need the help.
The door chimed, and Fane looked up, seeing familiar sandy hair. He finished off his can and tossed it into the recycle bin. "Hey, Leo," Fane said, giving a little wave. "I sent them home early today. It's pretty slow in here." Fane didn't ask for details, but he was pretty sure he needed plausible deniability.

HISTORY
TW: Death of Parents, Death of Sibling
Born in Carlingford, Ireland, Fane's parents were Jacobites, in Ireland, during the time of the most conflict between the Jacobites and the Williamites. Fane grew up believing the the Jacobite cause, even after his father died fighting the English. He still believed in the cause after his mother died in childbirth. Then eighteen, Fane never even met his sister, but he gave her a marked gravestone next to his parents, inscribing the name his mother intended to name her.
With little time to grieve, within the next month, Fane was pressed into service of the British Navy. He was criminally underpaid (rather he barely was paid at all). But he managed to buy a lute off of another sailor and began playing in ports for spare change. He collected the shillings with the hope of buying his freedom from the ship. Until a day that he met a man, Desmond, from his home country and offered him the thing he wanted most. Freedom.
Fane took the offer, determined to have any bit of freedom he could. All things have a price. And Fane's turned him into a vampire. Despite being told by Desmond the details of such an offer, he saw it as a curse, afraid of what he'd become, but Desmond was there, making sure he truly started to understand. As such, Fane learned to embrace it. Fane realised that by giving him immortality, Desmond gave him both a family again and preserved his music for eternity.
He spent most of his life since near his sire, but a few times over the years, Fane decided to go to school. School was not something he could afford when he'd been growing up, and the idea that he could learn and relearn the world was exciting to him. He moved with Desmond to Deerhaven about five years ago, buying the then-for sale Secret Realm and running the place. He continues to make music and grow as a musician, though he's apprehensive about compiling an album or even an EP.
