a knowing smile grew on rhiannon’s lips, fresh with a soft vanilla lip balm, until it reached her eyes. it was not uncommon, as friends and her parents ( chief among those she knew ), for her to so easily lose her way in conversation with another–digressing from the topic at hand as easily as she exhaled. furrowing her brow with sincere apology, she was quick to save face. “i’m sorry–” she chuckled, wrinkling her nose as if possessed by an impending sneeze, and tucking a shock of coppery hair behind her ear. “–i just get carried away when I talk about antarctica.” i just wish i could go back, the word lingered on her tongue and died before having chance to fruit at her lips. “i remember ice age a little, but only because we used to joke that one of my father’s teaching assistants looked like sid the sloth.” she confessed, almost laughing aloud at the memory.
She chuckles too, finally remember to bring the soda bottle to her lips. Lowering it, she frowns a bit as she seems to rack her brain, tilting her head a little. “I was just thinking about it because... Antarctica’s all ice, right? I’ve never actually seen it.” She struggles to see how anyone has. It seems so endlessly far away, especially from little Faulk Hollow, and this place sometimes even felt like the end of the earth. Herself, she has barely even left the country, not really offering much thought to the world that lies beyond. “I mean, you can talk more about it if you want, I don’t know anything.”
