Harper’s Bazaar | Natalie Portman
When is Natalie Portman not the picture of perfection and elegance? She has the warmest smile that is beaming throughout the editorial accompanying her August 2015 cover shoot for Harper’s Bazaar US. In images captured by Norman Jean Roy, Natalie dons an array of pretty pink garments from Prada, Gucci, J. Mendel, Givenchy and more.
In her featured article Natalie talks Hollywood’s focus on fashion, balancing her career and parenthood and her Israeli roots:
On Hollywood’s focus on fashion and gender inequality: “I like to look at what people are wearing, but I do see the sexism in it. Yeah, you could reject it all, but I don’t know anyone who has done that and been able to maintain the level of work that I’d like to maintain.”
On balancing parenthood and her career: “Very early on, I asked [Cate Blanchett] about being a parent. I said ‘How do you do it? You’re a mom. You’re the best at what you do.’ She said, ‘You just do. Stressing about it doesn’t help.’ Most men I know are dealing with the same issues. They say they feel like if they work too hard they won’t have enough time with their families. Maybe those questions need to be asked of men, too. Maybe the men need better questions.”
On her Israeli roots: “If you say, ‘I’m from Sweden,’ everyone says, ‘Cool.’ Then when you say, ‘I’m from Israel!’ everyone wants to have a 10-hour political conversation. Everyone has a very strong, very passionate opinion about it. But I’m grateful for it. I had so many friends who asked, when we were younger, ‘Who am I? What’s my identity?’ I never questioned my identity.”

Flare Magazine | Kate Mara
I have been a fan of Kate Mara’s style for awhile now. She manages to balance ladylike charm with edgy intensity really well. However, aside from House of Cards (in which I found her irritating as heck) I haven’t seen or heard of much she has been in - I am sure that is all about the change with her starring role in the Fantastic Four movie.
To promote the film Kate nabbed the cover of Flare Magazine’s July 2015 issue. In studio images photographed by Nino Muñoz, Kate looked the picture of summery elegance styled by Johnny Wujek in an array of floral embellished looks by Simone Rocha, Valentino, Bluemarine, Yanina Couture, Preen and more.
In the cover story Kate dished on the Fantastic Four movie, her cast and keeping her private life private:
On Fantastic Four: “You do get that exciting, fantastical action-packed thrilling thing, but you also get the emotional and very real human part of who these [characters] are. The movie really is about family coming together and what lengths you would go to protect them.”
On having fun on the Fantastic Four set: “The movie is very intense, so the set was an intense environment. But because of our dynamic, there was a lot of joking around. When you’re having to emote a certain kind of energy and vibe all day, you need to joke around to let off some steam.”
On working with Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan: “I screen-tested with Mike and Miles, and for Mike and I, because we play siblings, it was so obvious how comfortable we were with each other. And Miles is a really fantastic actor as well; bantering with him was awesome.”
On keeping her personal life private: “It’s so simple to me, because as an actor your job is to convince people you are someone else, and it’s harder to do that when people know a lot about who you are and what you do on a Saturday. I’m a private person, but I’m a very open person when it comes to my inner circle.”

Street Style | Paris Couture Week
Some girls get their style inspiration from the runway, some get it from magazines and others from their celebrity icons.
I however get mine from looking at photos of street style - seeing real women looking awesome and showing off their personal style. Paris Couture week has to be one of the best events to ogle the fashion elite and get some inspo for the current season.
Here are some of my most envied looks from Paris Couture week thus far!

What’s in my bag?
That is a question I get a lot. I tend to be one of those bag horders that uses their purse as a carryall. It ends up weighing 20LBS and can be used as a weapon which also helps me validate the weight further. I get horrible back aches and juggle it between shoulders - something i’m sure you can all relate to. I would be prepared for everything, I mean everything; 2 USB cables, a flashlight, my Nintendo DS (in case my phone died and I needed entertainment), snacks and more.
Part of my New Years resolutions was to end the crazy. I switch up my bags a lot so I keep a bin in my night table drawer full of mini products and purse necessities that I can pull from. Lately however, I have been using my Proenza Schouler PS11 Classic bag - it is small but I am always surprised with how much I still manage to fit in it. A benefit though is that I am petrified of ruining it so I never overload it.
Let’s get to whats inside shall we? Many days I am out from morning till’ night so I like to have on hand some mini products that can help me do that. Typically I have a pouch with a small eyeshadow palette with neutral shades that look good all day, a liquid concealer, liquid eyeliner, lip balm, cream blush and blotting papers. I also keep a mini nail file and mini Tweezerman tweezers that can be a great multi use tool.
My wallet situation has always been a mess. I have tons of them and they are all huge so I end up over stuffing them with receipts, empty gift cards, expired coupons and points cards from places I don’t even live anymore. I switched over to this small square ACNE Studios wallet I have overlooked for years. It is compact enough to fit in my bag without taking it over and small enough that I only carry what I need. The best part? It has a change purse - something that my last wallet lacked and in turn made me look like a fool every time I dropped all my change at the checkout counter.
Lastly, I carry some business cards, a scrunchie to hold my hair back while driving, a multi use USB stick and a lens set for my phone camera - a blogger must. Not pictured - kleenex and bandaids - they don’t look as cute to include in the photo.
So what do you guys keep in your bags? Are you organized or do you pack heat in your carryall?
Who Wore It Better: Sheer Trend at The MET Gala
I gotta say, I am kinda over this whole sheer gown thing. It is starting to feel way too overdone - I mean there are only so many ways to strategically place beading and lace details to cover your lady business. At first it felt edgy and fun, and sure, there have been times I have loved it - case and point Emma Stone at this years SAG Awards. Now more often than not I can feel the desperation to feel relevant and shock. Sometimes enough is enough with the overexposure
At this years MET Gala Beyoncé, J.LO and Kim Kardashian West all showed up donning variations of the sheer trend. Lets take a look:
Beyoncé: For the second time Beyoncé wore a sheer Givenchy Couture gown. Im on the fence about everything going on here. First off, I cannot decide if the candy coloured gemstones make this look fun or if it cheapens the look and feels too Eastery. Secondly, the high pony, however adorable, also feels a little crazy with the pastel pops of colour. But I mean, who can really argue when she’s rocking it all so hard?
Jennifer Lopez: Nothing has ever been more J.LO then this crimson beaded number. It is hard to make out in photos but the embroidery takes the form of a fire-breathing dragon that encircles the dress keeping in tuned with the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ theme. Overall this was my least favourite look of the ladies because I am really not feeling her hair and makeup game - it all kinda falls flat in my opinion. Furthermore theres some odd pulling on the nude fabric killing the sheer illusion.
Kim Kardashian: I must say Kim looks insanely gorgeous in her custom Roberto Cavalli and of the sheer looks from the night this was by far my favourite. However, is anyone else having a serious case of déjà vu? Swap out Kim for Beyoncé and dye the dress black and purple and you have her Givenchy Couture look from the 2012 MET Gala. I think I just made my case for my point above about running out of ways to make sheer work.
So which look do you love? Do you agree the the sheer trend needs to take a break or does it leave you screaming more?
Top footwear designers reimagine Cinderella’s glass slipper
When I was a little girl…ok let’s start this again. Being a majorly obsessed Disney fan I obviously spend an embarrassing amount of time imagining myself as a Disney princess. Handsome prince, fairytale castle, envious tresses and a killer wardrobe that even Sarah Jessica Parker would drool over. Typically these daydreams big and end with Cinderella, one of my favourite animated icons.
To celebrate the live action version of Cinderella film hitting theatres this March, Disney has commissioned everyone from Stuart Weitzman to Jimmy Choo and more to reimagine the iconic glass slipper.
Make sure to click through the gallery for each designers sketch - which will be available at Saks Fifth Avenue come March.
If you have not already check out the trailer below to witness Cinderella’s gown and pumps in all their splendor:
Couture Fashion Week | The Street Style
During Couture Fashion Week in Paris it is not always about what is making its way down the catwalk but rather what is strutting around outside the venues on the street.
Couture clients, celebrities, models, editors and journalists alike are photographed making their way to shows showing that the street style show can be just as exciting and inspiring.
Enjoy!
Elie Saab | Couture Spring 15'
Sometimes when gazing at Elie Saab designs I day dream that I am a princess, or better yet - a glamourous actress waving at my fans while I basked in how awesome I look on the red carpet. They just have that effect on you. Each gown exudes effortless confidence and femininity while always maintaining a high degree of detailed artistry. By always keeping the silhouettes simple, flattering and elegant, his designs stay very accessible. It is no wonder that the front row of his couture shows are lined with clients rather than the typical A-Listers and editors.
Fifty-five heavenly garments made their way down the tree-lined runway during Paris Couture Week, each more lovely than the last. The fairytale like atmosphere made the perfect backdrop for the romantic jumpsuits, cocktail dresses and red carpet worthy gowns. For spring, his latest collection boasted a palette of ivory, rose, powder blue and mint with delicate ostrich feathers, sparkly appliqués and embroideries and intricate crystal beading. Towards the end of the presentation tulips and abstract butterflies ruled the runway. Elie Saab sited his mother as his inspiration for the collection.
"With every new collection I conceived, the striking image of my mother in this tulip-print silk dress reappeared endlessly."
The final look, a rainbow-hued wedding gown, ended the show on a high note. Modeled by Anna Cleveland and dramatically spanning the width of the runway, the gown solidifies that Elie is never one to disappoint.
Best Dressed | 2015 SAG Awards
I could write an intro blurb about the SAG Awards, but I am already a little late on posting this and am far to lazy so let's just jump right into it shall we?
1. Camila Alves: Always the perfect plus one, Camila looked insanely stunning in an aubergine hued Donna Karan gown. If this gown were black it wouldn't nearly have had the same dramatic impact showing us the difference colour can make.
2. Eddie Redmayne: The consistently delicious Brit is my pick for best dressed male. The best actor winner looked as handsome as ever in a double breasted Prada Tux and Chopard timepiece.
3. Rosamund Pike: One of my favourites from the evening was Rosamund's bold Christian Dior Spring 2014 Couture hi-low gown with Fred Leighton jewels. Her hair looks so fun and fresh with the hi-low floral fun gown. Everything is perfect however, I would have loved to see some of the original sheerness from the runway version remain.
4. Felicity Jones: 'The Theory of Everything' actress wore a Balenciaga blush-hued gown which featured a simple silhouette and an off the shoulder structured criss-cross. Both Naomi Watts and Emilia Clarke donned similar looks but Felicity's styling and hue definitely made hers stand out.
5. Lupita Nyong'o: The little girl in me always wants to cheer for those who can pull off a princess gown on the red carpet and after her award winning number at the Oscar's last year, here Lupita is again in another show stopper. Her long-sleeved Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2015 gown featured a plunging neckline, bold floral print and graphic black striping - a look she carried into the night when she swapped her gown for a cocktail version.
6. Emma Stone: Anyone who knows me at all knows that I have an intense, deep, creepy love of Emma Stone. So obviously it makes me insanely excited when she completely knocks it out of the park on the red carpet. She is by far my best dressed of the night in this incredibly cool Christian Dior Couture tuxedo inspired number with sheer paneling peaking out of the top and a long sheer train.
So what are your thought's on this round of red carpet looks? Who were you picks for best dressed?
Elizabeth and James // Resort 2015 Lookbook
Day to day I tend to wear a lot of black, white and neutral colours. I am not really one to wear bold, poppy brights even in the summer. Elizabeth and James released their 2015 Resort lookbook and it tickles all of my fancies. Now if only I had enough money in the bank to go out and buy the full line.
Olivia Palermo weds in Carolina Herrera
Socialite, MTV starlet and accessory Queen, Olivia Palermo was married recently to German model Johannes Huebl in an intimate ceremony for family and friends. Always one to walk to the beat of her own drum she chose a cashmere sweater, white tulle skirt and white shorts adorned with ostrich feathers all from Carolina Herrera. Now I could never picture myself choosing something so boldly different and nontraditional for my wedding day but I really think this is so Olivia and so perfect for her. My favourite part of the look? Her something blue courtesy of a stunning pair of royal blue satin Manolo Blanhik heels.
For more of Olivia's wedding day check out her blog here.
Red Carpet Fashion: Rihanna at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards
Always one to push the "more is more" envelope and not shy away from displaying full boobage, RiRI managed to shock the media world once again. The queen of exhibitionism donned a body skimming custom Adam Selman fishnet dress that featured over 200,000 Swarovski crystals which highlighted every curve.
The first thing I thought of when I saw this was the gown made of chains and mesh that Rose McGowan wore to the 1998 MTV Movie Awards. From the boobs to the bum to the admitted "I wore it to cause an uproar", Rhianna seems to have followed suit.
One thing I will give her, however, is that she rocked it. The elegant shape of the dress, the crystal sheen, lovely head piece and smokey makeup aid her in pulling this off and the event itself was definitely the place to wear it and get away with it.
Since everyone seems to have an opinion on this look I would love to hear your thoughts! Too brash? Too much bum? Not enough bum? Sound off below!
OOTD: Watch from Michael Kors, Belt from H&M, Shorts from Bluenotes and top from Buffalo.
Tattered shorts and a cold shoulder to distract from my split ends. It is definitely time for a hair cut.
