So, I guess this is a free space where I can talk about some theories and speculations about Silent Hill F (please, if you didnāt play the game, donāt ready this. It has spoilers all over.).
I had seen some people having wrong conclusions, especially about the real age of the protagonist, Hinako, and her friends. Some are using the statement that are said in the ending of the first run (that the bride is in their twenties) so they can look at hinako in a more sexualized way, without the guilt of seeing a minor that way. That is disgusting, even if it was true.
The other point is that hinako is trapped in the ilusion of the best days of her life, the high school days. And she is not letting go of that, and thats what she fighting for. Which is obviously wrong.
The game is about the early maturity of women stuck in a society where they are nothing without a man. They are doutrined by them, forced to obey the rules for all their life. The statues, the dolls and paintings without head and faces, the treatment over brides and call the marriage ādeathā, and, especially, the amount of flowers blooming in her body before the transformation into the ābride formā proves that she is being forces to grow and be a woman, even in her teenage years, to fullfil her role, having to let go of her house, friends and old life to turn into whatever the man want her to become.
Hinakoās biggest fears is to be part of this. To become her mother and sister, lost and stuck in this cycle of violence in a forced family. Is not even about love (that she feels about Shuu). Not about feminility (she donāt have any problem with being a girl herself, just with the obligations that she didnāt chose and that comes with it).
She donāt want to āgo backā to high school years (she was NOT happy there). She just donāt want to let go of her immaturity yet, ācause sheās still a teenager. The second playthrough confirms that what we are playing is the present, and she did not married at the age of 23. Her final form is like 10 feet tall, she was running and never got identified by the authorities. That statement we hear in the first finale was the estimated age of a running giant bride. Other proof is that when she enters in rooms that look like the high school, she says it looks like years ago, implying that it wasnāt.
So, that said, is always WRONG to objectify hinako. For godās sake, thatās the problem the game and the protagonist wants to fight all along!
