● "Kiki and Bouba Dancing" series 2024
Oil pastels, colored pencils, watercolor, and india ink/nankin on paper (A3)
I drew two characters based "Kiki" and "Bouba" shapes from the Kiki and Bouba Effect, where people would relate the words kiki and bouba to spiky and rounded shapes, respectively;
For Kiki, I did very straight lines with pointy corners, along with straight lines and triangles as patterns on her dress; I chose the color yellow because thats a color i would associate more with the word. As for Bouba, I did more wiggle and curvy lines, with circles and wiggle lines as dress patterns; shes done with watercolors because it was more fitting
Did this one as a final for one of my classes in college, took me an entire night (started during the early afternoon and finished at around 6AM); It took so much time and effort, it had my wrist screaming 💀 I had some issues with the ink and watercolors (random splashes and color mismatches) but the end result looks great!
So, I know that the "Adventure Time" comics aren't canon but I really love the part in "Marcy & Simon" when Simon gives Marcy a new teddy bear that looks like Hambo, so I like to think that bit is canon.
[ID 1: a traditional fanart of Marceline from "Adventure Time" floating with Hambo on her lap. Some bits of the page are covered with pink post its and there are 3 little star stickers.
ID 2: the same image in a different angle.
ID 3: a screenshot from the comic "Marcy & Simon. The first frame has Marceline holding a teddy bear and Simon (out of the frame) is saying "I know this silly toy isn't Hambo, and you're not that little girl anymore and I'm not the Ice King anymore, but I'm also not the same Simon! Think of this toy as... something new, to remember the old and cherish it. I hope you like--". The second frame shows Marceline hugging Simon who seems surprised. The third frame shows Marceline face, still hugging Simon, saying "I love it." The forth frame shows the two of them face to face, Marcy is floating with a tear in her eye, she's saying "After 1000 years, I never thought I'd see you again, let alone her that from you. I'm just so glad I have you back, Simon."]
