Lord, let me and all high school and college students have a good school year, good grades, good friends, good experiences, and good mental, physical, and spiritual health. Amen.

Just saw the Hadestown proshot and first, it was phenomenal. Second, not seeing nearly enough talk about Patrick's performance in The Boot.
I was fortunate enough to see a production on stage first and Hades is usually played with a sort of strong, straight-backed, sturdy posturing. Then this is played for the reversal in his dance with Persephone as he becomes loose in his movements, soft in his gestures. It's a great performance, but both would be so hard to perform with any confidence or grace in a boot.
So Page didn't try to copy his old style of playing the role! He adapted the whole performance to utilize the boot and the cane. His movements became more serpentine to avoid pressure on his leg, and he skulked about the stage, using the cane (with a dog head handle, fantastic detail) both for stability and as a way to gesture and bring emphasis to his movements. He does not appear infirm, instead he appears partially robotic, a cold man becoming something less "human" over the years. It made him seem far MORE threatening in some scenes I would argue, as it changed his whole body language into something strange and unfamiliar, the position of the boot holding his leg in a way that made me think of werewolves.
And then, in the emotional turn, instead of making him a graceful dancer, he does suddenly look more infirm. This isn't the King of Iron, this is an old man that has worked himself so hard for so long, to the point of self-destruction, trying to protect things he was losing in the process. He is hurt, he isn't as fast as he once was, but he tries to match his wife's dance, hobbling through the steps. She tearfully holds his hand and dances around him, goes slow, so happy to be able to connect with him again, to love each other again. She accommodates his limitations, it doesn't matter that he's not what he once was, they can be something new together.
I just adored this production, this different way of portraying the character. The flexibility of the production to make sure Page could be in it if he wanted is admirable and I'm so happy they did. I could gush for hours about how well done this was.
this is technically not brought on by anything in particular, just the general attitude many people on tumblr show time and time again, but i think it is time for one of those posts again:
there is NO group of people that you are morally justified or obligated to murder. NONE. killing people is not the activism you think it is.
if you can do it, so can she. if she can do it so can we.
finally got around to making some obc hadestown art who cheered!
So much of what I assume is competence is actually just habit. Remove me from my standard routine, and there’s a big chance my brain will just start flopping around like a fish out of water.
"One time a piano student asked me: 'Why play the piano if these days my tablet or smartphone can do it automatically better than me?'
He then showed me several apps that played music using scores.
I explained to him: 'Your cell phone always plays that Debussy score in exactly the same way. You, on the other hand, with your emotions and flaws, will never play the score the same way twice. You will not play the same way on a sunny day when you have just fallen in love as on a cloudy day when a relative has just died. Music is not just a score - you too are part of the music. Art includes you in the experience; your human imperfections are also part of the work.'"

Whoever invented the word "dead" to describe things that aren't alive was really going off. Love how monosyllabic it is, with a hard final consonant. Very definite. Very fatal. Good word.
get in loser if we’re all going through it might as well do it together

I knew immediately this is a ferry to the San Juans where I live, and indeed on his instagram, the artist tagged Orcas Island as the location!
his other pieces in this series are so lovely. that's exactly how the light hits the benches in real life. really beautifully captured.
Photo I took on the same route a few weeks ago. He nailed it.

As of TODAY Twitch has quietly added the Generative Ai Training model into your account without your permission.
For the time being it is TOGGLEABLE and you can TURN IT OFF!
However, we do not know if Twitch will force this to be on at all times like some other platforms, like X/Twitter, have previously done.
Regardless of IF YOU STREAM OR NOT you should TURN THIS "TRAINING FOR GENERATIVE AI" SETTING OFF IMMEDIATELY!
To do so you must go to: https://www.twitch.tv/settings/security
And then scroll all the way down near the bottom.
There you'll find the "Training for Generative Ai" setting, toggle it to OFF!
Be sure to keep sending messages to Twitch that you do NOT want this to exist.
And another reminder that if you do stream on Twitch, like I do, you should start preparing you and your audiences to migrate elsewhere ASAP.
Oh! So I maybe haven’t been actually surrendering to the will of the Lord so much as just preparing myself to be disappointed which! Is decidedly not the same thing.
